I am giving Essentia one star because you can't write a review without one. I would prefer to give them none. I have been trying to get a billing error corrected by them for 6 months. I went to their urgent care after receiving an animal bite, which required a series of rabies shots. The urgent care clinic could not provide the additional shots needed, so I went to their main clinic in Park Rapids. I informed the registration person, and each nurse that I saw what each shot was for. It was a post incident treatment. They keep submitting it as if I was getting a vaccination, which my insurance doesn't cover. A shot for treatment is covered. My insurance has covered all of the other shots, but for some reason the morons can't seem to get it right for one of the shots. I have spoken to at least 5 different people about this. Each assures me it will be taken care of. It hasn't. I'm wondering if all of the staff is as incompetent as the billing people. I may need to switch to Sanford Health.

The Duluth, Minnesota location is literally responsible for my uncle's death. He was suffering from liver failure throughout October 2023. Instead of trying to bring him back to health, the nurses sent him on walks, fed him, gave him drinks and sent him home TWICE! He was not even in a good condition to walk in the first place. As a result of their neglect, my uncle died in his home towards the end of the month. If these kelp-for-brains knew how to treat a disease, let alone care, my uncle would still be here. He would've met his baby son, become a drug counselor and open his own apparel store. But this sorry excuse for a hospital took that all away. You should be ashamed of yourselves, Essentia. You should actively work to take care of humanity instead of focus on small tasks. This is healthcare, not a wage job.

Appointment with opthalmologist. Previous Opthalmologist said to only get exam by opthalmologist in future due to certain problems.
Couldn't find office initially, reception sent me to a huge 2nd floor room with 3 chairs to wait, but someone finally appeared from a door and took me to exam room. Spent 45min with tech (not opthalmologist) doing all kinds of tests. Opthalmologist came in at the end for 5 min & looked in my eyes for 10sec. Tech returned and I was done. Scheduled another opthalmologist visit with completely different outfit. Outcome was exactly opposite and vision numbers were quite different from the first visit. Got new glasses that are correct and great.
