Went to ego in Cannock to celebrate a birthday, there were 15 of us, the service was great
Ava was amazing, polite and very helpful.

I took my better half for lunch on Valentine’s Day and we had a very enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings with excellent service from a very friendly and helpful server Emily.

We both had three course meals:
Starters: Chorizo Frito Al Vino & Grilled Goats Cheese
These came quickly and we were very happy with them, the goats cheese is a favourite of my better half’s and mine was a new choice, I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount of Chorizo served in the red wine sauce very nice!!!!!!

Mains: Sirloin Steak & Belly Pork.
The A La Carte menu can be a little restricted for my better half, but she chose the sirloin steak, well done and she throughly enjoyed it. Cooked exactly as she likes, very pleased. mine was the belly pork which i have had before and it is still a fantastic dish with the pork cooked to perfection with chorizo and black pudding!!!!

Dessert: x2 crème brûlée’s and flat white coffee.
We only go for the crème brûlée’s!!!!!

Our server Emily was friendly, attentive but not over bearing with a very approachable and happy manner.

Overall a very pleasant experience food tasty, enjoyable, served hot and with no great delays between courses. We find the early afternoon time to our liking as its not to busy. Would highly recommend and we will visit again soon.

BEWARE OF USING GIFT VOUCHERS

We tried to go for afternoon tea using a gift voucher for my mum's 80th birthday but were told the voucher had expired by a week despite there being no expiry date on the voucher. I was told by a gentleman staff member to email the head office in Bolton, which I did, and received a reply from Natalie saying yes your voucher has expired, and when where we thinking about going but unfortunately never heard from them again. Poor customer service and after visiting Ego for many years to a few of their restaurants I find this very sad leaving us unlikely to visit anytime soon.

Valentines day` 2023.
We arrived in time per our booking. There was a long queue outside to enter. Ladies were dressed up in open evening dresses, heels over bare feet. Zero degree outside, freezing cold - lets keep them queuing outside for 30 mins, let put their feelings under a test! Its a Valentines night! Magnificent start!
We saw people leaving queue in desperation without meals... especially older couple, who just cant take such amount of disrespect.

It took restaurant over 30 mins to offer us a waiting coffee table by bar area where we had to wait another 10 mins for our dinner table to get ready. Nobody offered us complementary drinks or snack while we were waiting.
Eventually a waitress walked us to our table and she left. It took her another 30 mins to come back to take our drinks order! 30 minutes!!! Several starters and mains were no longer available to order (even so it was fixed Valentines’ day menu). And we had to drop starters order due to waiting time of dinner to come - 1 hour 30 mins.
Another 20 mins later, no drinks were served to us.
So far we spent in restaurant 1 hour 30 mins and we were not even served some drinks! Happy Valentines!
We went to see a manager to trace our order. A lady explained us that our drinks order was lost due to faulty order machine at the bar (and it was faulty last 3-4 days!). We had to wait more for drinks to come. Then drinks arrived together with our meals so we had no choice but to drink while we were eating.
Afterwards we ordered desserts. We waited another 30 mins but nothing was served. So we left. Manager was very apologetic on our way out, it wasn’t clear though what happened with our desserts. Probably our order was lost same way our previous drinks order did.
Manager told us that their booking system is ruled by head office and restraint is not in charge of it. When we were booking a table, we were forced to choose leaving time, it was 1.45-2 hours or so. But people dont leave it 2 hours, hence all this waiting table disaster. Nevertheless the booking system keep take bookings every 2 hours.
We ve heard quite few people were complaining about they were asked to leave their tables and move to bar area as soon as they put forks down, some people have even been leaving their meals unfinished.
Thats a disgrace dear EGO! You cant treat your customers like that!
Also, amount of tables in the restaurant is shocking. Place stuffed the the brim (it is very large and spacious place). There is no such place left where you can add one more table - its full.
So it is no wonder the staff and kitchen are failing to provide decent service and positive experience. And it is us, your customers who have to compromise on quality of service and food.
Restaurant`s managers are willingly offering partial or full refund, it seems like “common practice”.
From our two visits we had 50 pounds voucher from 1st visit and 2nd visit wasn’t charged at all except paid in advance deposit. Thats how bad it is, regarding we are not conflicting people, but rather calm and understanding.
What the point to stuff the place with tables and fail to provide decent service therefore have to offer customers partial of full refund, when you can reduce amount of tables, keep your customers happy and end up with same amount of profit? And you will have customers satisfaction as free reward?
I`m going to advise you to reach Gordon Ramsay, “nightmare restaurants”, because the way you deal with your customers is outrageous!

me/family/friends regulary go here for meals (its local to us all) and i can honestly say in all the years I`ve never had a problem and neither have anyone i know and the food has always been great !!

My mum hired the room for 20 ish people in
september and again the service was brillient

Food and service has always been perfect Ive never had cause to complain, I always compliment and also tip as the service staff deserve it.

stick your hand up for help and even though its not their table or side of the restaurant they will come and see to you.

Style over Substance!

We visited Ego on Friday for a 60th Birthday dinner.

Our table was at the end of the restaurant by the toilet which wasn’t a problem as it wasn’t a disturbance, however it was quite cold there so wasn’t comfortable.

Being a Greek Cypriot, I wanted a taste of the Med so went for the Calamari starter which was cold and limp on arrival which was so disappointing - although a good size portion.

Then I went for the hanging kebab which when it arrived was pure style of substance where It was over cooked, burnt down one side and completely dry throughout.

As we had took advantage of buying a discount coupon in advance to get money off and we had receive a free birthday meal voucher too I decided not to complain and just pay so as not to dampen the evening for my wife and daughter who were happy with there meals.

The dry and burnt kebab was obvious to the eye on how it had been cooked but yet it had still been sent to the table from the chef - Line and waiter which to me means no one cares or checks.

Hence our honest review and decision never to revisit again.

Went for a joint 50th/16th birthday meal. They made a mess of the main meals and ruined my experience. I sent feedback and have never recieved a reply. Its like they don't care they made a mess of such a special occasion.

We visited Ego Penarth today & I have to say we were disappointed we waited approximately 2 hours for our food, we were told the delay was because the restaurant was very busy but it wasn’t full at all, my Pizza arrived swimming in grease & cold whilst my fellow diners were pleased with their meals.
I used the gents toilet only to find the toilet seat was held on with one hinge the toilet seat was taped together with white tape & the lock was jammed open & no toilet paper present.
All in all not the best experience.

What a wonderful experience was had yesterday New Years Eve. The food was excellent , the service exceptional and the atmosphere wonderful. I would like to say a huge thanks to all @ the Wellington Ego Shadwell Leeds. It really shows great leadership filters down to all the staff , well done to all the Leeds team, a special well done to Daniel who served us with a huge smile on such a busy day.

I had my work’s Christmas shindig here last night, it was unbelievable.

The food was unreal, fit for the Gods

I had the Pate, Steak and Christmas pudding.

Really nice atmosphere in there, fantastic staff and the venue is beautiful.

I will definitely go again.

Fantastic meal & service, would recommend to everyone. Skye was very attentive seeing to all our needs. Thank you for making our family get together perfect.

Even though we pre ordered food for 14 people as requested they still got it wrong they serve cheap stake at high prices . Tipped a drink over me and then tried to add a 10% service charge

Starter of Calamari was over cooked but was changed straight away .The Sunday roast lamb dinner & pork dinner was absolutely the best roast dinner I have eaten in a long time . Absolutely delicious .
Staff were very friendly and helpful and Lucy the manager was just fabulous .
Will be returning for sure 100%
Would Highly recommend a visit here .

EGO Shrewsbury.
Celebrated my birthday with a meal at EGO and it was superb. The young lady who served us was lovely, very professional, very attentive and generally helpful. The food was brought out without any waiting, was hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.

Now I’ve been a head chef previously in life, I’ve worked in a fair few restaurants, managed my own business and run my own teams…

With that said, I feel that I’m pretty well qualified to recognise ‘exceptional service’ when I choose to have a nice evening out with friends and family.

I attended the ‘Ego at The Beverley’ on 22/09/22, the day after my birthday to celebrate, with my nearest and dearest.

This is not the first time I’ve eaten at the restaurant
(I’m fortunate it’s very local to myself) and certainly won’t be my last! Its a real pleasure to attend.

Yet despite being a ‘local’ this review remains un-bias, I do not have friends or family that work there and I’ve not been offered any incentive to give the team credit if it were not due.

Every single time we’ve popped in to enjoy a relaxing meal there, it’s been absolutely brilliant!
The staff are friendly, the food is incredible, the ambience is inviting/relaxing and it’s very well managed.

On this occasion I noticed a few new faces in the restaurant, waitresses that I hadn’t seen, on the days/evenings I’d visited previously…

This Saturday evening I was particularly impressed by a young lady called Tegan!
A softly spoken, genuinely caring Irish girl with a beautifully kind and sincere personality.

Tegan’s professionalism, general politeness and considerate mannerisms shone that evening like a ‘radiant star’ in a busy and lively restaurant atmosphere.

It was quite a busy Saturday evening, far busier than I’d seen it previously… But the energy of the restaurant was lively and fun, rather than boisterous and overwhelming.

I don’t believe Tegan was ‘assigned our table’ as such, possibly there to assist another member of the team, but her attention to detail and alert, positive attitude meant if you need anything, she was quick to notice and had assisted you before you needed to give much thought to attracting anyones attention.

When our food came to the table (which was flawlessly cooked and presented I may add!)
Tegan announced it confidently and politely, her soft Irish accent lost briefly in the lively tone of the room.

Yet, unlike other nice restaurants I’d eaten at previously, Tegan hadn’t displayed an ounce of frustration, there wasn’t any shake of the head or rolled eyes that I’ve seen expressed by many experienced waitresses at other venues that would be considered as ‘classy’ establishments with astronomically expensive menus.

Tegan was incredible, merely apologised and repeated herself, this time louder without shouting or coming across frustrated or impatient as she continued to hold hot plated food.

I felt that she’d had acted in an extremely classy manner and it was appreciated by us all.

Later than evening, I apologised that we’d struggled to hear her earlier, and asked if she was Irish? She simply smiled and politely apologised for being Irish, which was the sweetest gesture and got us smiling and laughing with her.
It was just the nicest display of genuine, kind and truly considerate individual.

Even as we left Tegan took the opportunity to wish us goodnight and remarked it had been lovely to meet us, and it came across as such a sincere comment that we all left the restaurant on a natural high and was excited to re-visit.

1-2 weeks later we returned to enjoy yet another lovely evening and once again she was incredibly impressive… Not only for us, but we could see her personality touching the souls of many other clients of the restaurant that night!

A quick, casual conversation with a manager made it clear that sometimes Tegan had questioned her abilities in the restaurant, as she was still new to the company/team.

Well I hope this review reaches her!

What’s more I hope it reaches her friends, her family, her employer and all the lovely customers who look forward to enjoying a good evening at the restaurant.

Because if Tegan has managed to impressive myself and others on more than one occasion, it certainly isn’t down to the ‘Luck of the Irish!’ 🍀

I had my 60th Birthday at ego in lytham.The staff were amazing and compliments to the chefs as everyone had a fabulous time and everyone...yes everyone loved their food. One guest said her steak was the best she ever had! And she is well travelled. So thank you...you did yourselves proud.

I visit the Shrewsbury restaurant on a regular basis and have just made a reservation for a table for 7 adults and 1 child for lunch in October and have been informed that I need to pay a £40 deposit Which may be refundable if there is a family emergency but was not guaranteed
I highlighted to the manager that I make regular bookings and have never not turned up but this loyalty appeared to count for nothing.
Apparently the head office have decided that bookings for tables of 6 or more must pay £5 deposit for every person at the point of booking
I feel that this may result is less bookings ……… time will tell

We visited ego Cheshire oaks service shocking very slow.waited around 1 hour for a drink food came it was poor chicken was pink sent back said would be 30 minute wait not good enough when family is already eating spent some money to night won’t be returning

We have just visited the new Ego at Cheshire Oaks. The food is excellent and the customer service from our server Jordan was amazing she went above and beyond to make our experience special.

Hanging steak kebab, on the menu the choice as slightly pink or well done, I choose slightly pink.
When it came the steak at the bottom of the skewer was very undercooked inside, near the top of the skewer it was better, by which time I had had enough.
Told by staff "they had had a few complaints. The kitchen was trying to get the food out quickly"
I noticed a few hanging kebabs being returned to the kitchen untouched, maybe for re-cooking.
Service was very slow, waited for starters and then main courses. Only thing that came fast was the bill didn't even have to ask for it, it just appeared as if by magic.
It's a large restaurant lots of tables maybe too big for the kitchen to cope with.
I've suffered with a bad stomach, stomach pains and feeling sick since I got home and the following day.
