Been there a couple weeks ago, rapid drop off, stayed 1 min and went my way. There are no barriers , you don’t pay on the spot, instead the signs say to pay online within 24 hours.
You can’t pay it right away whilst at the airport as if you stop you get fined 😂…
So obviously you go your way, then forget to pay, they cleverly don’t send a reminder to pay and zaaac…100 GBP fine…

Like others here I was stung for rapid drop off parking payment and my appeal was refused without any consideration of the fact that their barriers and the payment machine were not working. I don’t know what I was expected to do. It’s a rip off for a few minutes parking at the best of times but did they expect me to park up and try and find someone so I went over the measly 5 minutes? To add insult to injury I’d been through the system and paid earlier in the day when it was actually working so it was clear that I wasn’t going to simply avoid payment deliberately. All in all just a money making racket with zero customer care or acceptance of their own technology shortcomings. Avoid at all costs.

I am a taxi driver and recently picked up a passenger at stupid o'clock in the morning, as I have done more times than I care to remember. I was in the rapid drop off zone for about 4 minutes before driving to the barrier. I noticed all the barriers were up (not uncommon as they often malfunction) and cars exiting were clearly tapping their contactless payment but having no success, and then just driving off. I tried unsuccessfully to pay by contactless before also driving off. I have now received a £100 fine reduced to £60 if I pay within 14 days, because apparently users now have to pay online by midnight the following day. Apparently there is signage somewhere on site outlining this new payment system, but oddly not at the contactless payment points at the exit! Yet another way to extract even more money out of people using the airport parking facilities as they know full well many people just won't see the elusive signage, or will forget to pay online by midnight the following day (not everyone is online especially many elderly people). Rip off Britain at its finest once again. Why UK airports feel they have to financially exploit passengers being dropped off or picked up is particularly unique to the UK. Most major European airports don't charge for rapid pick up and drop off at all, and the few that do don't charge the exorbitant fees that UK airport operators do, and certainly don't have entrapment charges in place. Last year UK airports made over £673 million on parking charges, or £1.8 million per day. Gatwick alone makes over 20% of its none aeronautical operating profits from parking, it's most profitable none aeronautical side of its business. Why are UK consumers always being mugged off.

If I could leave a no star review I would. The car parking system for drop offs is designed to rip you off for £100. No option to pay cash, only option is online through a system that doesn’t work 😡

I paid the carpark fee after the 24 hours time. It was an honest mistake and the paperwork I got actually says I was only there 2 and a half minutes. APCOA are awful. Avoid this airport. Go to Birmingham by train. It's cheaper. APCOA are robbers!01/11.

Just a very all round very bad shopping experience. UK Airports " Rip Off "
* Checked out Duty Free to buy 1 litre bottle of Bailey's, they charge £15.28 per bottle??
* I payed £11.00 a bottle in Morrison's Supermarket,Lincoln.
* W H Smiths doing promotion of buy 2 get 3 bottles of pepsi for £3.99.
* I only wanted 1 bottle, still costs £3.99 ??
* Do savvy shoppers use this airport ??

100 pound fine for being in the car park 45 seconds I didn't know you had to pay to go in an airport for such a small time greedy shocking chit hole

Drop off cost. My driver paid the short term parking charge with payment evidenced but we still got pursued for £170 non-payment fee. Impossible to contact the APCOA Parking Company or their licensed 'collectors' Debt Recovery Plus. Never will use East Midlands Airport again

Rapid drop off price is a rip off. For a 2min drop off stay cost me £5 , 5 days later a 1 min pick up cost another £5. I think you should be allowed at least 5mins free of charge.

If I could put 0 stars I would !absolutely horrendous . Charged £60 for dropping son and pregnant partner off total of 3 minutes . Really stressful time especially when you haven't been to the airport before. We will not been flying from here ever ! Don't bother appealing it or offering to pay the £5 waste of time . What airport charges to drop people off ? Absolutely disgusting 😡

Dropped my daughter off and picked her up, drop off was daytime, pick up was middle of the night. So remembered to pay for parking after the drop off. But when I got home after pick up it was 2am, and forgot all about it. Nice one for implementing a system that preys on normal human fallibility rather than actual abuse. Let people pay on-site again so they can do it while they remember. Such buffoons for designing things that catch people out, do some proper systems thinking.

Well last year travelling to Croatia we went two days without luggage thanks to their conveyor belt breaking. This year after arriving back from Gran Canaria we walked off the plane through to UK Border and what a sight to welcome travellers, dirty and uninspiring and comparing it to other European airports a total disgrace. I needed to visit the toilet before departing the airport, no soap, dirty floors and smelly, you need to wake up EMA.

East Midlands Airport has found a new way of making more money from parking. The drop off area has now had the barriers removed and you have to pay within a period of leaving or you get a fine now of £60. Bet they won’t publish the increased revenue that’s going to come in a couple of minutes cost £5 robbery.

Dropped my daughter off for her flight. We were there for 5 minutes - most of which was negotiating the killer speed humps that would remove suspension parts.
We were stationary for approximately 2 minutes within the 5 and for this we were charged £5. This is extortion - I’m not really sure how she would have got to the airport without paying this charge. It’s just daylight robbery and the airport should do something about it.

WOW! I have had the best experience with the bagagge re-claim/lost property team at the airport. I left my brand new Kindle Fire HD on board a Ryanair flight from Valencia and within a week I have it back! They responded to my 11pm email immediately and have responded to all my contact with them 24-7 within minutes. A truly great service that they are providing when you are in a stressful situation. They re-assured all the way through. And on a separate note - we live near Leeds and actually prefer to use EMA for our flights to Spain (frequent flyers) because we love the convenience of this airport, its compact size, car park buses always runnning and the staff are just lovely. Very few delays and we use Jet2 and Ryanair from this base. Thank you :)

Scam parking arrangement. They have changed their pay on exit barrier system to a 'remember to pay when you get home' system. You have 1 day to pay. I remembered a couple of days later, and they refused to take payment, and notified me that I should expect a fine in the post. £100. Whoever approved this, and continues to allow its operation under these rules, should be deeply ashamed.

Be careful as you drive into the rapid drop off they have the most ridiculous speed bumps that will wreck your suspension unless you go over them at a virtual standstill. I agree with the speed humps but these are too much.

Everyone hates and curses this place, it needs blowing up ASAP. Awful inconsiderate unskilled pilots fly low over our estate during all hours of the day and night. All locals, disabled and elderly are fed up. Can not get a break from it. No reason to fly so low. Everyone hopes this place is demolished soon or attacked or just explodes.

PARKING SCAM!!!! Spent 90 seconds in their collection point. Couldn’t pay before I went, couldn’t pay whilst I was there, couldn’t pay after I left. Turns out you have to wait an hour after you’ve been then they let you pay to park? But if you leave it anymore than 24 hours you get a fine lol. I contacted the parking company asking how to pay after my visit and was ignored till after the payment window closed meaning they sent me a fine. Absolute joke, bunch of scammers and con artists, no idea how they get away with this, purely set up to catch people out and make money.
