My experience with DebtBusters has been horribly …
My experience with DebtBusters has been disappointing. At the beginning , communication was excellent. Calls were answered promptly, consultants were readily available, and I felt like a valued client. Unfortunately, that level of service changed significantly once I became part of the programme.
Since joining, it has been difficult to get timely assistance or meaningful responses when I need help. Simple queries often take much longer than expected to resolve, and it can feel as though client support becomes a lower priority after the agreement has been signed.
Debt review is a long-term financial commitment, and clients rely on ongoing guidance, clear communication, and responsive support throughout the process—not just during the sign-up stage. Based on my experience, there has been a noticeable difference between the service provided before enrolment and the service received afterwards.
I hope DebtBusters takes customer feedback seriously and invests in improving its after-sales support. Existing clients deserve the same level of attention, professionalism, and responsiveness that prospective clients receive. Strong customer service should continue throughout the entire debt review journey, not end once the paperwork has been completed.

Not treating customers fairly
After being told my debt would be settled in January, they stopped paying 3 accounts now I get no replies after months of emails, no customer service and no clearance certificate and no explanation as to why they just stopped paying. I still have one account and now they just do bother to reply and can only help me once I settled the account they just stopped paying more than a year ago, I am not getting my paid up letter as requested nothing, the client services are so bad now that they dont get a monthly fee from me they just stop treating my fairy, I am so disappointed I have been struggling for months sending email after email. And I keep getting unpaid msg and emails saying I owe them R11 a month after paying it

The worst! The woman that assigned my things is on leave just after I settled all my loans. Customer service is bad. How can they say they’re unable to help me coz the assigned lady is on leave, what if something happens to the lady ?that means no one would help me! Deserve 0stars actually.

I am beyond disappointed with the…
I am beyond disappointed with the service I have received from DebtBusters, especially considering their affiliation with Sanlam, a company that prides itself on professionalism and integrity. My experience has been the complete opposite.
Before I signed up, my consultant, Sinazo, called me multiple times a day to ensure she had every document she needed. The urgency and communication were exceptional—until the moment my application was approved.
Once I became a customer, the communication stopped almost entirely.
Before signing, I specifically raised concerns that I had outstanding medical bills and could not afford my debt review instalment that month. I was very clear that this was my biggest concern.
On a recorded call, Sinazo assured me that no debit orders related to the debt review process would be deducted from my account that month. I relied on that assurance when making financial decisions.
Payday arrived, and almost all my debit orders still went off, leaving me in an extremely difficult financial position.
When I tried contacting Sinazo, I was told she had already left the office. The following day she was on leave. I sent numerous emails, including emails to her manager, and received no response.
Eventually, she asked me to provide bank statements showing the debit orders had gone off. I sent them immediately. Despite following up repeatedly, I never received a proper response or explanation.
Ironically, while my queries were being ignored, I had no problem receiving reminder emails about the next debit order that was due.
Now, for the second consecutive month, the same thing has happened again.
How is this acceptable?
DebtBusters appears to invest all of its effort into signing up new clients, but once you become a customer, you are left to chase answers, with little to no communication or accountability.
I even warned them that I would be forced to leave a negative HelloPeter review if nobody contacted me. Still, nobody cared enough to resolve my complaint. That says everything about how existing customers are treated.
People enter debt review because they are already under immense financial and emotional pressure. The last thing they need is misinformation, ignored emails, broken promises, and a complete lack of accountability.
I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for honesty, communication, and for DebtBusters to honour the commitments made to clients.
At this stage, I feel completely let down by a company that presents itself as being there to help consumers. My experience has been one of broken trust, poor communication, and customer service that disappears the moment the paperwork is signed.
I sincerely hope someone in senior management takes this complaint seriously, because based on my experience, customers deserve far better than this.
