Booked a chip repair and Chip Ahoy came the next day to repair. The technician quickly identified the chip couldn’t be invisibly repaired and gave me options. I decided to proceed and I am happy with the repair. Will use Chip Ahoy again.

Price really good compared to others. They were able to replace whole windscreen very quickly. Brandon carried out the work in great time. Totally happy with the service from start to finish

I took my Vauxhall Zafira to Chips Ahoy for a simple windscreen replacement. What should have taken an hour turned into a three-hour nightmare – and I left with nothing done except a more damaged old windscreen and £80 stolen from me.

Here's what happened:

They removed my original windscreen. Then they tried to fit a new one. But they never bothered to check if the new windscreen was the correct match for my car – the most basic, elementary step in the entire job. Of course, it was the wrong windscreen. It didn't fit.

After I had already waited three hours, they finally realized their mistake. They then had to remove the wrong one and put my old windscreen back – but this time with more damage than before. So I drove away three hours later with a car in worse condition than when I arrived, and no new windscreen fitted.

When I asked for my £80 deposit back, they refused. I had to take legal action to recover my own money from these people.

Was my first time visiting , Charlie did a full new windscreen for me as mine was completely damaged due to broken wipers….. Great knowledge, great price, completed the next day ready for my re MOT, super quick and easy, thanks, would defo recommend and no cowboys in-site, perfect !!!

Had a massive chip on my windscreen, so I called the closet place which was Chips Ahoy Joseph answers the phone, top quality guy gave me a time to come as they were busy, he was kind, friendly and the job got done in a quick time and it was done to top standard can barely see the chip. If you ever want to get you windscreen fixed or replaced, I spoke to them about the bad review that they have been getting and they sadly had a Sub team that kept letting them down. Since getting there new team it has been up hill. ( my mate got a mobile screen replaced and went well) reason I had asked about the shit reviews. Anyways if you ever want it done ask for Joseph. Top man. Highly recommended.

Called chips ahoy as while I was driving my car it got hit by a stone and got a chip in the windscreen. They were very helpful, as I wasn't sure if it classed as a chip or a crack and was obviously worried. They fit me in same day at their basildon garage. Took about half an hour total. Joe did the repairs and was brilliant. Very welcoming and friendly. Would highly recommend.

I had my window screen replaced by Joseph and was more than happy with the service that I received! He was very helpful, honest and genuinely just a lovely man!

I’m not the most savvy when it comes to vehicles and I get nervous having things like this done but the whole process was made as straight forward as can be from the first phone call, I was given options, he explained the differences, he explained everything to me and really did assist me with finding the best option available.. (price wise too!)

Amazing service, amazing people, I am very happy with my window screen. If I need any future repairs or replacement I will most certainly be returning to Chips Ahoy, I honestly cannot rate them as an company or Joseph enough on my experience that day, I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Chip in Windscreen phoned and booked in the same day, Joseph did a quick clean job value for money , I would recommend.

My experience with Chips Ahoy Windscreens was extremely horrendous from start to finish.

I initially booked a mobile windscreen fitting, but the appointment was cancelled twice at the last minute, each time with different excuses (“staff sickness”, “traffic”, “delivery delays”). I was also pressured to pay a deposit immediately or I was told the price would increase and the screen could not be ordered.

Despite this pressure, they then ordered the wrong windscreen for a completely different car model.

Because the mobile appointments kept getting cancelled, my partner was ultimately forced to take time off work and travel to their Basildon unit instead. No apology, compensation, or discount was offered despite the inconvenience.

When collecting the car, I was also asked to “spread the word” because they didn’t have enough customers to stay afloat, which was an uncomfortable thing to hear immediately after the experience I’d already had.

The “economy glass” I chose was expected to have some minor blemishes as outlined in their terms, but the screen I received is heavily scratched and visibly warped in places, which affects visibility while driving.

Even worse, immediately after leaving the fitting appointment, my wipers began catching and striking each other, something that had never happened before. The plastic housing around the wiper mechanism was also completely broken off - when it was attached just fine the morning prior.

No damage or issues were mentioned to me at the time of the fitting.

When I contacted the company about this, the response was shocking. Instead of investigating, the owner immediately attempted to blame a mechanic at a different garage who had simply looked at the vehicle after I became concerned about the new wiper issue.

In an email response, they stated:

“The MOT centre are just passing blame onto us when in fact they broke it.”

This is inaccurate. I had not even had my MOT yet. I only took the car to a garage to ask them to look at the already-broken wipers before the upcoming MOT, and the mechanic had not even touched the car before pointing out that the housing was clearly broken... must have broken them with his mind powers I guess.

Chips Ahoy then claimed their technicians are “fully qualified” and suggested that only someone who “doesn’t know what they’re doing” would cause this type of damage.

Given that their team were the only people who had worked on the vehicle, and the issue began immediately after leaving their fitting, readers can draw their own conclusions.

After several emails attempting to resolve the situation, I was told:

“You seem like someone who just wants something for nothing and I’m not going to continue to entertain this conversation.”

For clarity: the “something” I was asking for was acknowledgement of damage caused during the fitting. The “nothing” would apparently be the damage to my vehicle.

After trying to find an amicable agreement or at very least an apology for the damage done to my car - the final response I received from them was simply:

“I don’t care.”

As blunt as simple as that.

Mistakes can happen in any trade. What matters is how a company handles them. In this case the response was denial, blame-shifting, and dismissive treatment of a customer raising a legitimate concern.

Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere.

Terrible service took the deposit didnt turn up on the Thursday or Friday or Saturday and wouldnt give our deposit back. Got it done somewhere esle in the end avoid these clowns.

Not a great experience and will not be using this company again. They broke one of the windows on removal and made no note of it so we had to pay for a new one when having them fitted again, not so much as a discount offered. They also took a deposit for window fitting and didn't turn up, twice on different occasions, didn't call or email to let us know they weren't coming. Never experienced such unprofessional behaviour and very disappointed.

Need a windscreen done on site to an undrivable car. Ordered a windscreen and money taken promptly and promised next day on site. Next morning the call say fitter is on medication and could I bring it down. I said no MOT bad crack etc and they told me to bring it anyway and to just book a phantom MOT booking tomget around the illegal nature of driving a damaged car. Then promised to come later in the day. No show. Next day they were due to come and after chasing said they had 1 more job and they they were coming - no show.

Now I see all the reviews of them not showing up to on site and the poor quality of the glass i insisted they refund me. But they refuse. I have sent a letter before action and will seek recovery of funds by small claims court

Competative price, knew what i wanted, good response on telephone and clear instruction. Took a bit longer than expected due to schduling issue but the job done. Happy customer.

A fast efficient service. Ant removed and refitted a leaking windscreen which had been replaced by a large national windscreen company. After refitting and sealing, the car is now dry and usable.

When I phoned i spoke with Anthony who was polite, knowledgeable and quickly reassuring. He told me I could bring the car in straight away.
I arrived, went off for a cup of tea, and almost an hour later I was told the rear screen had been refitted, it had been leaking water into the wheelwell causing me to bail it out after every rain storm, not a fun job! When I returned, I have to say the refitted screen and the other windows and front screen and my car have never looked so clean on the outside.
Two days of rain later and my car wheelwell is dry, I am so delighted with the service.

Very happy with the service I received and Joseph did an excellent job. My rear windscreen had a leak and was repaired very well. I work nearby so left the vehicle there and collected later that day. Brooke was extremely helpful in setting up the appointment and the comms were excellent throughout.

Quick, good value, no fuss, good job. Joseph the fitter was great.

Fast, efficient and can barely see the chip now thanks lads!
