Very disappointed with my experience.
Please be mindful that lessons can only be frozen for medical rasons, with no flexibility. My daughter is on a school programe and l wanted her lessons frozen with the intention of continuing her swimming lessons after the programel. I asked if the remaining lessons she had already paid for could simply be carried over, as I wasn't requesting a refund. Unfortunately, I was told lessons can only be frozen for medical reasons, with no flexibility.
To make matters worse, she will now lose the lessons she paid for and has been told she must pay another registration and admin fees and all again if she wants to rejoin.
I understand organisations have policies, but I was disappointed by the lack of compassion and discretion. My advice to anyone signing up is to read the cancellation and freeze policies very carefully before committing.

My annoyance with this Leisure Centre is the volume of cars not displaying a disabled badge abusing the disabled bays because they can't be arsed to walk to the front door of the leisure Centre, ironic really given that you would assume they are visiting to exercise. I'm fortunate to not need the disabled bays but it must be incredibly frustrating for those who rely on the disabled bays and can't because some entitled able bodied idiot is parked in them.

I've raised this issue with Better Health months ago and the issue is unchanged and indeed worsened.

Better Health and Gemini Parking clearly don't give two sh#*'s about accessibility for disabled people.

Absolutely shocked to also find out that one of vehicles (a grey Mercedes with a red softop) which is always parked in one of the disabled bays, is an able bodied staff member of Better Health 🤬

Kaisha, your comments are incorrect and do not answer my grievance. I'll explain further for clarity:
There are clearly marked disabled bays at Better Health Southgate. There is signage in place (instructed by yourselves through your parking service partner - Gemini Parking), advising in line with common practices that car's using the disabled bays should display an appropriate blue badge. The vehicles 'repeatedly' parked and abusing these bays which includes an able bodied member of your Better team, do not display a blue badge. I would expect it reasonable, if they have a disability they would display the blue badge? If you are advising that some disabilities are not visible (which is true) then should your parking signage not say something like "you don't necessarily need to display a blue badge if you don't have one".

To this end, your comments are naive, Ill informed, contravenes your on site signage and confirms that you have no understanding of the blue badge and disability parking process, Indeed, it does confirm that Better Health and its staff don't give two s#@&'s about disabled accessibility to their premises. I will now take this complaint together with your naive response to Head Office.

Hi Kaisha. You are correct, I have commented on other platforms as you say as Better have not addressed my complaint and indeed the abuse of the disabled bays at Better Southgate has worsened. Users who have a disability and unable to park in your designated disabled bays must be incredibly frustrated as I am with your lack of understanding of this issue. You state Better Health have addressed my complaint on other platforms. However, for the avoidance of any doubt, it's clear you have not as your members and 'wider community' continue to abuse the disabled bays by parking in them and not displaying a blue badge as your car park signage clearly states they should. Otherwise they will receive a £100 fine. Better Health and your parking enforcement company are failing to address this disabled parking abuse. You cannot change and make up the rules as you go along to suit your incorrect narrative in response to my complaint. If your policy and car park signage clearly states users of these disabled bays should clearly display a valid blue badge then surely they should right?? or, do you feel they shouldn't??

This issue has gone on unchecked by Better Southgate and your absent parking enforcement company (Gemini Parking) for too long and I'll be escalating this to Head Office in Woolwich..

A lot more exercise classes now but they are very popular and you have to be on the ball for booking them but that is out of their control. Always clean and well maintained.
Hit and miss with the greeting as it depends on the receptionist of the day.
Customer service operatives are the same, hit and miss but generally I am happy with the service.
Gave a 4 and not a 5 because they have changed the music policy and it does not energise you like it did. Poor decision on their part to save money. 🙈

I’m writing to explain why I rated Southgate Leisure Centre one star.

Unfortunately, my recent experience was very disappointing. The service and overall environment did not meet expectations, and I left feeling frustrated. There are several areas that urgently need improvement, including customer service, facility management, and overall communication.

In addition, I am repeatedly unable to book any course sessions—such as yoga—as they are always fully booked, which makes it extremely difficult to use the services I am paying for.

I hope the management team takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary changes, as the centre has potential but is currently falling far below acceptable standards.

Great gym, very friendly environment. Not too many school kids hogging the bench, staff are always helpful no matter what, also I just have to say that Oliver Nash was extremely helpful when I went

Very good facilities. Staff always helpful especially Peter who works on Fridays. He has exceptional customer service skills annd is always helpful . Overall I’m very pleased with the amount I pay and the venue.

Friendly helpful staff. Good lessons even though I wish Ann had more yoga classes to attend. Always so hard to book into her classes.

I’ve had a really positive experience overall. Customer service has been clear, helpful, and supportive whenever I’ve reached out. I appreciate the communication and the peace of mind it’s given me around my account.

Fantastic staff. The steam and Sauna facilities need much improvement though.
Hygiene standards are pretty poor.

A steam room without steam ! , a sauna that your car’s heating driving to leisure centre is warmer than the sauna .
Pay 💰 in advance to receive a third class experience !
Nothing will change ……

I booked a sauna and steam sessions for me and my father. But no where online did it mention the steam room was broken I even spoke on the phone before the booking and no one mention it. Besides that we had to wait to use the sauna because lots of pepole without wristbands where using the sauna to. It was not my moneys worth.

I understand it’s difficult to keep it fresh and clean as so many people using.. but to enjoy steaming place has to be clean and fresh.. maybe need to use some suitable essence to smell better

This place is freezing! To work out in thermal clothes, hut and scarf is utterly ridiculous.

Back Feb 1st and once again the place is freezing!!! I’m seriously tired of having the discussion with the staff every single visit. Further more it’s only Sunday lunchtime and ALL classes for next Saturday as well in fact the entire week ahead are full!!!

The individual employee (Abbey) who finally sorted out my membership renewal was very good and prompt in her responses. Renewing my membership was problematic and took approx 2 weeks, so in my opinion this process could be made alot swifter and easy for the user.

My son is enjoying swimming and we have a wonderful teacher.
The water temperature is perfect and indoor is very warm.

The cleanliness in the swimming pool area at Southgate Leisure Centre could be improved. In a wet environment the changing room facilities should be cleaned more often and more thoroughly. The water in the showers take very long to get warm especially in the morning. There are also issues with the drainage as there are quite a few drain flies present.

With regards to the Better app it would be great if this could be operated with Face ID as the app constantly logs me out. There has also been recently an update to the app which wasn’t an improvement at all. The app was much better before in terms of navigation.
