There was a major update to my site's forum script which caused a huge display bug with the chat. I reported it, and Arrowchat fixed it, and even though my license has lapsed, and I had no tech support, they still fixed my forum and charged nothing!

Very pleased, as it's the best IM chat I've used and my members love it!

Extremely displeased!!!!

I paid $80 for a "Professional Installation" since my site didn't have a supported integration. I was told it would take "3-5 business days".

After 6 business days, there were no e-mail updates of any kind, and the installation clearly wasn't done.

I contacted them, and asked for a status update. There was no reply. I waited a couple more days, then requested an update or a refund. I was immediately replied to and informed that their technicians were ready for the install. I wrote back, very excited, but after 48 hours, nothing was done.

I asked for a full refund, and was told they will process one ASAP. This was several days ago. Nothing has been refunded or replied to.

Unacceptable.

Old UI. Abusive. I would use *anything* other than this just to not have to deal with their attitude.

I purchased their "Premium" chat product and gave up on it after straining my brain for a couple of months trying to get it to work.

I am not new to managing websites and have used Joomla and WordPress for quite some time.

Updates to the software are typical to fix bugs.

Practically, no new script improvements over the last couple of years. Basically, the few software updates were only band-aid jobs fixing things that were broken.

Reply to my forum posts were usually unanswered or either one word or one sentence long that did not help at all. The few replies I received either said we are working on that, we are aware of that issue, it is our mistake, or that is not currently possible.

To me, it appears that the software is a one-person operation that is primarily concerned with making money.

It is a shame as I believe that ArrowChat has a great product if they just had a team to improve the software and provide proper support to their customers.

I ended up using JChatSocial with no issues, solid rock performance, and a world-class support team.

Absolutely the worst support experience I have ever had.
When I requested a refund for product not as described. I was told no and they were putting me on a bad customer list.

I threatened to file a charge back they told me they would have me blacklisted with their competitors (what?) and that they had a 99% percent success rate in fighting charge backs.

I insisted and they refunded me and told me I was blacked listed with all their competitors and affiliates. And "you're more trouble than you're worth, we no longer want you as a customer."

Just a big pile of crap.
Here is why:

1. asked them if the videochat works on mobiles (iOS and Android). They said yes, the Business version does. Bought the pro version. THERE IS NO VIDEOCHAT FOR MOBILES AT ALL!

2. It has bugs. Can't select the camera and mic devices for desktop on Chrome / Ubuntu. The online members (friends) count always say ZERO even with friends online.

3. WORST OF ALL if you open the video chat, which only works on desktop, you actually open TINYCHAT which asks you for a pro account to get fullscreen??????? Just buy Tinychat in that case instead.

4. they reply their support tickets after days, and that if you nag them

A waste of money just for some eyecandy

Bought their business plan and never got what I paid for.
They didn't professionally intergrate as promised. The notification remains unfunctional and unattached to the script.
Basically not very pro.
They also limit domain changes so you cannot move to a new domain unless you fork over more $$$.
The software depends on their push server to function so it's not optimized for self dependability.
I don't know what else out there us good but i am rating this according to it's current dependability state.
There are bugs. The ui has bugs too.
I would give it 5 if only we could use it on its own server with no push server, fix bugs, provide real pro integration and they allow unlimited domain changing.

I switched from CometChat to ArrowChat when CC decided to screw over all it's customers. AC (I use 2.2) has been bug free from the get go for me and my integration with Invision Power Suite 4.3.x) The support has been a little slow, but amazing nonetheless, if it was faster I'd give 5 stars. Arrowchat is transparent about their pricing, it's fair and reasonable. Although it's still a little server intensive, and resource hungry but this can be mostly managed through the ACP and slowing down certain settings.

Arrowchat is perhaps the only chat bar software I know of that can get the job done for affordable and extremely reasonable prices. Modifying it to suit my needs was a cake walk and I enjoy working with it. I recommend it, however I would also make note of the downsides that I have mentioned.

TL;DR: Only buy if you are a software engineer who has experience diving into unfamiliar code.

Only use this for a mobile chat and overall it's pretty solid. The code you get (by the way it's just code, not very "plug and play") works decently well. I'm a software engineer for a large company in Boston so I have some experience diving into code I don't know anything about. This was the same experience. It took me a few days to understand their code and read through it but after that, it went well. I had to fix a few bugs myself (search worked but once you click on a user, it broke the code; a few smaller ones that add up to be a headache) and I created a whole new UI from it. But overall, it's hooked up with my current system pretty well and is running smoothly so far!

I message the tech support frequently and they always get back to me within 2-3 days. Usually within 1.

I would recommend if and only if you're a competent engineer.

At conversationexchange.com we had arrowchat running in production for 2 years with over 150 concurrent users and 20 rooms. We always had it on SSL and did not mess up any of our data so a smooth experience so far. We even did some custom changes to the code using the guidelines from AC support. People nagging/crying about it are definitely doing something wrong and/or did not read the installation docs carefully. We do not care if they are not American: support has a 24 hours average response. Not bad for the price of the product. We are at version 2.1 and life is good. The only things that could be improved are:
- some more work and better UX on Mobile
- the push notification service should have a dashboard on the admin site in order to track usage. Right now you have to rely on their stats.
- push notifications at peak times are sometimes not fast enough to keep up with the traffic
- SQL needs some tweaks to provide better performance
- Need APIs

This is a scam. Support is non-existent, rude and blantly criminal. They are not Americans, don't understand what you tell them, they are just fake and at the moment they have scammed me for 100 GBP. I paid for the software and didn't get anything. I have filled a fraud complaint with my bank to get the money back

I have experienced much of the unprofessional behavior that the other reviews have.

Unfortunately Arrowchat is run by a pathetic little millennial with a chip on his shoulder that KNOWS he's screwing people over, but just does not care.

I paid for the "professional" install which broke my site like a lot of other people.

It never got installed properly and I asked for a refund to which they said "no chance"

I also paid for 365 days of support which they refuse to give me because I offended their precious little baby of a CEO.

Don't get ripped off the software does NOT work, and will just mess up your site.

This is a snake oil rip off from the days of old.

It does not work AT ALL but they are more than willing to keep your money. They made sure they wrote their terms of service so that PayPal will never side with you because it's a "digital download".

It's nice to know that PayPal supports stealing from people. Because when you sell a product that you KNOW does not work and refuse to give refunds, that's exactly what you are doing.

Arrow chat not working at all!!! bought their software more than a month a go. Looking at them boasting of their clients like Apple. But software has many bugs and does not work. First problem is re-capture loop. Been more than 3 months since and they have not fixed it. Yet they led me to buy their crappy stuff. Very unprofessional and unscrupulous company. Would not recommend.

Horrible chat software! We installed it on our social network and it broke the site! Sent emails for support and no reply for 5 days! We switched to another software and they fixed the situation caused by Arrowchat. Wish we had read the reviews here before losing days of downtime because of this chat software.

Full of bugs and not working on day 1. After 15 days still no fix. They boast they are used by Apple and Nasa. This way they win our confidence. So I bought their software. It wasn't working from day 1. We struggled with set up. I hired a professional to do it. Software still didn't work. When you click the button for video it just goes through a re-capture routine again and again. First we thought it might be a problem on our end. But nothing we did could solve it. After 15 days we contacted their customer support. They admitted they had a problem from their end, It was a KNOWN issue and they were working to fix it. BUT THEY COULD NOT GIVE US A DATE FOR THE FIX. It has been 15 days now and still no fix. I'm asking for my money back!! I cannot wait indefinitely. I think they are a scam. How can Apple or Nasa be waiting for a fix for months as well???

Unacceptable behavior hacking a system because of negative experience

I recently purchased the premium package and couldn't be happier. I had a couple issues, but support fixed them right up within 24 hours. The chat has been great for my visitors and has a ton of features.

The customer support is simply horrific. If they don't know/want to fix your issue, they simply start ignoring your emails. I had a problem with the multi language feature. I hired and payed a developer to set it up for me. He is a very experienced developer with 100% satisfaction report and over 200K worth jobs on upwork, yet he was not able to figure out how to set it up based on their instructions. When I inquired about further assistance they stopped responding to my emails.
Finally I took it to my bank and asked for a charge back refund. Day later I got an email - w/o any apology or explanation why they ignored my emails- telling me that there is "probably" a bug in the feature and they will fix it in their next release.
Looking at their forum, I have realized that I am not the only one who has issue with their support. In the past even if they did responded to support inquires , their responses were so vague and useless that they equaled to no support.
Lastly the video messenger is a joke....there are 3 options of 3rd party free video messengers to be used with the software. They are so complicated to set up, that average user will give up. For the amount of money you pay for this software they should have their native video messenger - not using a 3rd party messenger.

Bottom line. Stay away from this software/company if you want to save yourself the frustration. There are other options.
