Just my 2 cents

Although not a big jeans wearer, i do own a few pairs of Japanese denim and as someone who has never found the right fit in Levis i decided to try American Eagle.
Seeing all these bad reviews i felt it was only fair to share my experience which was completely positive.
The jeans arrived on time and the slim fit were a perfect and comfortable fit without feeling tight. The denim was soft and flexible. So for me AE are 10/10
No comment regarding their advert and i am completely against any form of racism.
I don't believe a company this large which probably employs all races is racist either.

Yuck

Yuck. As a white woman, I’ll never buy from them again and will unfortunately be too embarrassed to ever wear my AE jeans again too! The recent advertisement of Sydney Sweeney looks as if it was conceived in a room full of old perverted white men. I don’t know where the funny side to racism is but I know I didn’t see it. And then for them to use women’s jealousy as the reason.. buddy we got at least three girls working at maccas right down the road that look 100 times better than her, it’s not that.. it’s the white supremacy, smh.

I will never do business with this…

I will never do business with this company again I will never ever by any of my granddaughters clothes from the store again racist MFS.. disgusting vile and repulsive.. Genes. Jeans. We all know wtf ur saying!!! I will continue to spread the word none of my family or friends are buying from this company.. I never thought I would see the day that American Eagle would be racist that's my humble opinion from their ad.... have the day you deserve

Awful

The store has actually gone so downhill in quality, and the women’s marketing is now geared towards straight white men. Disgusting, never buying from again.

Store refuses to take back defective

Bought two pairs of jeans online, both the exact same size and both the same as I have purchased many times before.

Pulled the tags off and upon trying the second pair on realized it was an inch shorter than the others. They both list the same size on the tags but one is an inch shorter

Went into the local store to show them the difference in sizes and they refuse to exchange because the tags had been pulled off. I have the order confirmation and tags with me but they refused.

They told me to call customer service which I did, and they simply told me the exact same thing. They refused to exchange them because I had taken the tags off. I will never purchase another item from that store again. I've purchased probably 40 pairs of jeans for myself over the years, and I will be telling everyone I know stay away. The fact that they do not stand behind their garments, and they refuse to exchange a clearly defective garment is insanity. I promise this company will be around long with this type "service"

American Eagle ISN'T very American…

American Eagle ISN'T very American anymore. I can't understand the customer service workers because they aren't American !! And it's harder to find anything that's NOT POLYESTER!! Did they sell out to another country?? I've been wearing these clothes for 40 years too Sad they suck!!

Helaas dezelfde slechte ervaring als vele anderen!!!

Helaas dezelfde ervaring als heel veel anderen. Bestelling met meerdere artikelen geplaatst. Bij de levering bleek er een ander artikel geleverd te zijn als wat ik besteld heb. Contact opgenomen met klantenservice en moest foto’s opsturen. Heb dit tot 3x toe gedaan, zowel van het onjuist geleverde product als afbeeldingen van hun site van het bestelde artikel. Heb meerdere mailtjes ontvangen dat klantenservice wacht op mijn foto’s terwijl deze 3x opgestuurd zijn, daarna heb ik nog een aantal andere mailtjes gestuurd met de vraag om op mijn klacht te reageren maar complete radiostilte. Geen enkele reactie vanuit AE. Nog niet vaak zo’n slechte klantenservice meegemaakt!!!

Do not buy and return clothes to them.
They have not refunded me on all the items I sent back. I emailed and they keep sending me the same email backwards and forwards, which I send proof of purchase for and they still cannot refund me. DO NOT buy from them - awful customer service.

I like the clothes and the quality

I like the clothes and the quality, as well as the price during the sales. I find it to be fast fashion for young adults, especially with wearing the same outfit with jeans and a different shirt. I would buy!

Klarna hilft überhaupt nicht weiter, scheint mit unter der Decke zu stecken.
Kundenservice hilft überhaupt nicht weiter, schickt jedes Mal die gleiche Mal (über die retournierten Artikel nicht über die stornierten)
Habe Verbraucherschutz und Anwalt eingeschaltet
Bestellt dort wirklich auf keinen Fall.

I accidentally bought the wrong size…

I accidentally bought the wrong size belt here completely unaware of the return policy needing to have the tags attached in order for American Eagle to return or even exchange for a proper size. I can back to the store just wanting to exchange for the next size up, but American Eagle would not let me exchange the item so basically I have a belt I can’t use, return or exchange. I even tried going online to see if they would make an exception to an honest mistake, they would not, they simple just have their policy that I believe they should tell the customer before they purchase that if any tags are removed they cannot return or exchange it. I’ve never heard of this from a company, I’ve had an American Eagle belt for several years, it’s finally worn out and I wanted to get a new one. I just have never heard of a company needing to have the tags still attached in order to return something. I might look into getting a lawyer and investigating to see if their policy abides by the consumer protection laws of Nevada. I was not clearly notified about their return policy before the purchase and no other store I’ve shopped has ever had such a policy. I’ve done everything I can do to resolve this in a reasonable manner but it’s not right if they fail to communicate that at the time of sale so I’m aware before buying an item from their store. Let’s see what the law says and hopefully these investigative efforts will protect other consumers who have been victims of this kind of tactic American Eagle is using. Of course businesses should be able to protect themselves against any fraud but the fact that there are no exceptions for people unaware of their specific policy is predatory to unsuspecting consumers like me.

Online order item missing tag upon pickup, AE refused to accept return

Picked up an online order from Aerie in store and one of the items was missing a tag, which I didn’t know until I attempted to return it the following day (item was not tried on and never came out of the shopping bag). Staff in store couldn’t manually return without the tag so I reached out to customer service per their suggestion. After a week they finally got back to me saying they would not make an exception to “ensure fairness and consistency”. In other words, they will not allow me to return it to be fair to other people attempting to return items without tags. While I understand the reasoning for this with intentional, fully-removed tags, this was not the case for me. This item did not have a tag on it when they gave it to me. They are refusing to acknowledge this and give me my money back for a situation that was fully out of my control. The plastic is still in the item, however the paper piece evidently fell off at some point before it ended up in the shopping bag that was handed to me. AE offers absolutely 0 flexibility or willingness to rectify issues on a case-by-case basis.

AE is a billion dollar company and is refusing to return $30 for an item THEY gave to me without a tag. I will never shop here again, and I would strongly recommend others shop elsewhere.

I have responded to customer service appealing their decision, asking them to reconsider as the situation was out of my control. I’m hopeful they will be willing to make this right.

Update: I have received a follow-up email and they are now agreeing to accept the return as a corporate exception. I’ve added a star to the review as they have since made this right. It should not have taken multiple attempts to get here and I implore AE to be more flexible with their return policy if they are going to continue to use fragile tags.

Final update: After over a month of my return sitting in their warehouse untouched, I had to reach out three times for a refund to be issued. The first time I emailed I was told to wait until it had been in their warehouse for exactly one month (despite the return email saying to allow for up to 2 weeks). I waited another week and followed up again via email, this time without a response. I then went to the live chat today and the agent there was extremely helpful and was able to initiate the refund right away. This entire situation has taken nearly 2 months to be resolved which is far too long.

They owe me € 200

TLDR: A year after returning a € 200+ order, I still have not received my refund. Appalling customer service. DO NOT BUY HERE.

On April 15 2024 (!!!) I purchased three pairs of jeans and paid € 201,45. None of them fit me, so I sent them all back. All according to regulations: the garments had the tags still attached and the return was made in time.

On May 7 2025, over a year after the purchase, I receive an email from AE saying my refund has been processed. I BEG YOUR PARDON? I check my accounts and realize that, indeed, they never paid me back! The email stated I would receive my refund in 7 business days, so I waited. And waited... But no refund came.

I contacted customer service, but I keep getting the reply that they are "checking the issue with the relevant team". It's been 10 days, and I just want my money back. Outrageous.
