Sold us a dangerous car!
My partner bought a white 24 plate Golf R from AA Prestige. We drove up to Datchet to pick it up on 25th April. Brought the car home, all seemed well until a week later. The airbag light came on on the dashboard. My partner rang AA Prestige who told him to take it to the local VW dealership and get it looked at.
He took it to the Volkswagen dealership in Yeovil, who told him that the car had been in an accident. My partner had had a check done on it when he purchased the car but because it was not fixed through insurance, it did not show up! Outwardly the car seemed fine but to the trained eye it was obvious all was not as perfect as we had been led to believe. The airbag was not connected up correctly either and would not have deployed in an accident. Obviously we were unhappy, so my partner called AA Prestige who said they would take back the Golf R and he could have his car back (thankfully they hadn’t sold it yet!).
The Golf R was back up for sale the same day that it was received back on the forecourt, for the same price - no mention that it had been in an accident or had a fault.
I called AA Prestige asking about the Golf R on their website. I asked specifically if there was anything wrong with it, to be told it was ‘perfect’. When I told them I knew it wasn’t, the salesman on the phone got defensive and said ‘it doesn’t matter as it isn’t your car anymore, it’s ours’. They would have willingly sold me this dangerously faulty car again without a second thought! The car has now been sold again… god help the person who bought it. Hopefully the airbag light comes on again before the 30 day limit is up!
