My Citroen Berlingo van was booked into Warners in Gloucester to diagnose and repair an issue involving an engine management light and an emissions fault light.
They phoned me to say it needed a replacement diesel particulate filter and associated parts at a cost of just under £2000.
I disagreed with the diagnosis due to the age of the van (5 years old) and it's low mileage (58000), and also due to it never displaying a DPF warning light. At the very least, I expected them to attempt a forced regen on the filter, but they insisted on a full replacement.
I decided to take my van away from Warners and to an independent local garage, for further investigation.
This garage had the van for just two hours and called me to say it was fixed and road tested, with no further warning lights.
All for the price of £154.
I've not had any issues since.
He did the forced regen that I wanted, and that Warners said wouldn't help, and it worked just fine.
So, a £2000 quote was fixed for just £154 elsewhere - that's a bit of a difference in price.
When I told Warners this, they continued to justify their diagnosis and also refused me a requested refund of the £150 I had already paid them for their inaccurate, and wildy overpriced quote.
A word of warning to anyone thinking about using Warners for repairs - as I found, your quote may be a lot higher than expected, for work that may not necessarily need doing!
Out of pocket after a recall.
Took my Peugeot 3008 to Warners for a recall. The experience during the booking and on the day was good, the recall reasons and the intended actions were well explained and the job was completed on schedule.
As part of the service, the technician carried out the usual main dealer's Vehicle Health Check which identified, amongst other things, an oil leak which "requires diagnosis".
Once home, there was a fair amount of oil pooling on the ground under the engine tray. As there had been no evidence of any oil leak prior to the recall, I rang the service team to understand exactly what was done regarding the oil change/cleaning/etc. as part of the recall. They became defensive and all they could offer was to book the car in for them to investigate at my expense!
For obvious reasons, I took the car elsewhere for investigation and the main cause of the oil leak turned out to be a split sump plug crush washer (most likely due to over tightening). Two of the sump bolts were slightly loose also. I have photos of the washer.
There is clearly no proof that this was caused by the technician doing the recall but it is highly coincidental that part of the process was to "change the oil to a higher viscosity variety with extra additives". I would have thought that means that the sump plug (and possibly the sump bolts?) must have been removed and re-fitted.
I am left out of pocket after a standard recall and I wonder if Warners would have admitted to the cause of the leak if I had taken the car back to them to investigate as they suggested...

We had to have a clutch replaced in our automatic car plus new brake pads and discs warners branch in Tewksbury was fantastic highly recommended was keep up to date on the progress was in the garage for two days which was stated on booking it in very pleased with everything would highly recommend warners off Tewksbury

What a pleasant experience in buying a car. Paul the sales executive gave us a first class service. He made the whole experience easy. He is such a cheerful and friendly person. I would definitely recommend that you see him for the purchase of your next vehicle

Warners are an absolute disgrace and nightmare stay away from them you’d probably get more help and less cost at a back street garage.Took my car in for mot and service service was free as part of deal when buying car from them but they tried to charge me for it needed a courtesy car although shouldn’t be called that as had to pay £20 to use had no choice as needed to get to work then they said I needed a new tyre tried to sell me most expensive one finally after lots of emails and calls got bill reduced from over £300 to £180 never will I ever buy or use this company again rip of merchant is a polite way of saying how awful they are can’t believe they are still in business
Recent service experiences at Warner's Gloucester
Firstly I need to say that I own 3 Peugeots, am a Club Peugeot member and we have 3 other Peugeots in the family. So quite fans of PSA products.
I tried to book a couple of cars in for service but it got complicated and confused, so took just one, an old LHD drive import that I have owned from new and was Dealer serviced abroad no less than 50 times.
As with many 206's it has an ABS sensor issue and when the battery gets low the dash lights up with many FALSE errors that eventually clear themselves. I have owned many 206's over 20 years and have learnt all their annoying but easily fixed quirks.
It seems there is a bulb issue on a headlight that is UK spec and passed 3 previous MOTs. £38 quoted for a £4 part that takes minutes to fit. I have spares.
I was also told my sagging insulation under the bonnet, was a "fire hazard" and potential MOT fail. Would any manufacturer be permitted to fit a flammable bonnet insulation?! Not impressed.
I will collect my car which may or may not have the ABS fault fixed before any more issues emerge!
15/6/24 The ABS fault was fixed, factory fitted bonnet insulation removed and MOT passed, so I am now happier and will drop another car for some work. My faith has been restored. The Service Department staff are always helpful & professional even with difficult customers like myself! Thanks for your patience.

Great help and service with buying a car from Warners of Gloucester. My initial contact was with Paul and I dealt with him throughout, he was extra helpful, efficient and went the extra mile, quite literally, in giving me a lift from the station when I arrived to collect the car.
To date I am extremely happy with the Peugeot I bought, it is an extremely nice car, Warners were a pleasure to deal with, giving good warranty and offerd aftercare. Highly recommend.

Grumpy service lady (they don’t let you know they outsource the work when you book) and the manager clearly doesn’t realise he’s in a service industry! SO rude. Without customers you do not have a business!

Placed a £99 deposit on a car based on the online valuation of my trade in, spoke to the salesperson and even before they saw my car they reduced their trade in off by £2000. Asked for my £99 back and now over a week and despite promises still no refund. I will never use this company again.

On the 4th January 20 22, we took our Citroën Picasso to the garage to have our Windscreen Washer repaired. We were treated very well - as usual - bit the bill was horrendous! Windscreen Fuse was £89.84..the cost of labour and VAT was £230! We felt completely ripped off. And all my friends agree..and I have many friends. I asked for a breakdown on my bill, but all there is is, Fuse Box £89 84. Then underneath, Requirement subtotal £268.84 vat was £53.97, making a total of £323.81. We are pensioners! How can you justify such a price!?

Extremely secure and absolutely meaningful Covid protection procedures from car sanitising to reception handling which was most assuring. Without doubt the most thorough that I have experienced in any retail, business or MEDICAL environment. The rest was pretty normal - seamless efficiency and friendly service throughout! Incredible Customer Service
Having recently visited Warners with my car purchased from a Robins and Day dealer in Bristol. I have to say I am extremely pleased with how they have helped me.
My car had problems that the former garage couldnt resolve which was disappointing given that they were Peugeot owned. I always felt wary about going to a non-brand owned dealer but Warners couldnt be more helpful.
The team are all personable and well connected to what is going on with your vehicle. Nicole, Rob, Wendy and Gill have all been amazing just to name a handful. Not to mention the fact that any expectation they have set has been met and exceeded. Customer service should be this way and it almost feels like ive made friends with the dealer.
Sometimes brand owned isn't the best way to go and I would urge anyone to consider them as they have helped change my view on after care in the car industry.

Despite the show garage and uniformed ladies at desks, this garage doesn’t deliver the high quality service you’d expect. You don’t get the impression your car been thoroughly serviced. Today I got some fog lamp parts replaced and was charged a fortune. Worse still I thought I was paying £130 to get 2 small plastic parts replaced and when I arrived to collect the car the receipt said almost £180. The receptionists as usual were completely disconnected from the physical work and parts so were unable to help me meaning I was essentially arm twisted into paying higher than I was quoted. Very unprofessional and I will not be giving them any more custom
