I took part in UWCB in June. Absolutely amazing, one of the best experiences of my life and if you’re thinking of doing it, just go for it!

Avoid!! Find a different way to raise money for your charity.
Lost my table deposit of £200 due to false advertising from UWCB.
I have emailed info@ twice with my complaint and guess what....NO RESPONSE!!
All they seem to care about is ticket sales.

I attended Nottingham boxing at the Palais to support a friend. The atmosphere was great, the place was packed. We all had a great night

I took part in UWCB in 2023. I was up against what I felt like was a superior opponent. Tonight I met my opponent for the first time since our fight and he admitted he'd been boxing for 6 years prior, and the trainers were fully aware of this and still selected us as opponents.

Although I'd studied Karate many many years ago, I was a complete beginner to boxing and the 8 week training they provide is nothing compared to the 6 years experience my opponent had.

On the day of the event I had to wait almost 9 hours at the venue before my fight. My spectators were there for around the same amount of time with no food on offer.

My son signed up to one of their events and did not research this company first.
He has never boxed and started training for the fight.
A number of family and friends paid for 3 tables and some standing tickets, (around £1700).
Fighters are matched 1 week before the event and my son (5’8” and naturally 75kg or so) was paired against someone 6’3” and 100kg) this guy was also a boxer and a kick-boxer.
Upon hearing this we then researched the company and found that this is very normal for them and in fact due to this complete lack of care for the fighters, a number of people have died during their events.
Cancer research charity has cut ties with them and they are being investigated.
My son was advised by a boxing pro/coach to request a different opponent or pull out because it was such a bad mismatch and was dangerous. The pro said he absolutely would never let the two of them in a ring under his supervision.

The events answer to my son’s request was to offer to swap for someone even larger (114kg!!) or to pull out.

My son was told in no uncertain terms that he cannot fight these opponents and has to refuse.
The event has a no returns policy on tickets and despite their complete mismatch pairing and having no fair alternative, refused any kind of refund or goodwill.
We have lost our money but kept our son/friend safe.
DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE PEOPLE!
They have had deaths on their events, read the other reviews and go somewhere else.
Stay safe and use a company that care more about you than their income!!

I see you have responded.
So you are aware, a pro boxer friend of my son pulled him out of the fight as he knew what was happening. The other fighter as it turned out has had over a dozen fights.
By the way, you have failed to mention the deaths in your response?

They post an event for Sydney nsw I plus others created charity accounts so we though raised money now the site has been deleted & herd nothing back bunch of thieves don’t trust them

Terrible company and not at all concerned about the beginner boxers welfare. Paired my grandson with a much stronger and experienced boxer. My grandson now is wary about boxing again. The family of the other boxer where violent feral thugs. The management did nothing to stop the obscene and violent language. I would not recommended this company and their events. From training sessions i attended they would set you of on certain routines then just sit on there phones. Could be better organised spend more time with people who are struggling. Fight night arrived I agreed to exhibition as he said other lad was to good for me. Said it would be stopped if it's not a controlled fight. End of 2nd round I got stumbled and was dizzy then to hear the ref told my opponent you have to go for knockout it's not an exhibition no more! How unprofessional is that. This is my health and safety i put in there hands. I'm glad I told the corner man to end it after the 2nd round myself. I would avoid this one in the future and possible try pwcb. Hopefully they treat you better and are more concerned for your welfare. I'm fully aware I agreed to it but to belittle me just before fights started that messed with my head space is no good to anyone that is trying to have a good experience and enjoyment for a good cause.

Very bad pairing with boxers that have clearly boxed before and clearly also mismatched for body size, so beginers don't stand a chance. Loads of bad abuse of audience members who don't know the fighters, no support at all.
Tickets overpriced as you have to stand squashed in like sardines with a £30 ticket and no view of the ring also no designated seating area for elderly or disabled ticket holders as stated. Avoid at all costs.

Awful ‘pairing’ system to allow known experienced boxers to fight against novices

I am appalled at this company. On 06/07/2024 I boxed at Gateshead. To start with, the rounds were cut short to 90 second rounds. What I am really upset about is what happened because my opponent was getting beat, he decided to grab hold of me and lift me in the air and then spine bust me through the canvas which in boxing is illegal. I banged my head firmly against the canvas leaving me concussed for days unable to continue, and I thought I had seriously injured my back. This should have amounted to a Disqualification but the referee gave the decision of a win by stoppage to my opponent which is the wrong decision. The referee can clearly see the tackle. On the night the referee made many bad decisions including stopping fights that many believed should not have been stopped. My guests left the venue in disgust. I contacted UWCB on numerous occasions sending 4 emails to date and they have ignored all of my correspondence, simply demonstrating that they do not care. All I am asking for is for them to put the decision right by confirming it should have been a Disqualification and say sorry, I am not asking for much. They cannot at the least reply to acknowledge my email. I raised money for charity and committed to 8 weeks training, working hard and selling the minimum 10 tickets at £267 to have this done to me and them not even care. This demonstrates one thing that their morals are all wrong and they only care about ticket sales and making money. This is all sad considering in 2022 somebody died after participating in one of their boxing shows. I would have thought that Health and Safety would have been at the heart of everything but clearly in my situation UWCB go not give a dam. I will avoid this company at all costs. I have done 3 events with them in the last 2 years and the last one is my last one, I will not give this organisation the time or day.
