I bought a gift from Jonathan Adler at…

I bought a gift from Jonathan Adler at the beginning of December. The order was dispatched within days, except I received the wrong order. I contacted them, I was given a case number and told it would be dealt with within 5 working days. Even though I tried every day to make contact, I never heard from them again. Appalling customer service along with Paypal.
In the end I had my money refunded by Mastercard, who were very good.

Wonderful

I love my pomeranian & chihuahua ornaments. The design is beautiful, simple & clean. They are supposed to be Christmas ornaments, but they are too beautiful to bring out once a year, so I've hung them on my mantlepiece. Delivery was very quick & the boxes the ornaments came in is luxurious & they are well packaged to prevent breakage. These would make great gifts.

Mostly good experience

I was worried about this purchase from Jonathan Adler as I forgot to check Trustpilot before I made my purchase (three vases from the Druggist range). The reviews were alarming to say the least. However, everything arrived promptly and intact. I've taken off a star because there was some rippling on the rim of one of the vases that goes beyond 'normal variation' and into 'seconds' territory, but I don't really care enough to pursue it. So I can't say what service is like in the event of having to make a complaint!

Really amateurish Pelham Street ‘manager’

This morning I received an online order from Jonathan Adler UK which was sadly damaged. So I telephoned the UK customer service number listed on the UK website to organise a replacement.

It took multiple attempts to get through before a very out of breath woman finally answered the phone. She seemed disinterested and confused as to why anyone might be phoning, and explained that she was the manager of the Pelham Street store in London.

For someone in a ‘management’ position her customer service skills were beyond poor (no apology or acknowledgment of me having been sent a damaged item) and was weirdly confrontational when she claimed I had given her a product code instead of an order number (I hadn’t).

I asked if I could simply speak to someone in customer service and she said she didn’t know how to do that, instead mumbling something about them being in America.

She proceeded to give me an email address to direct my enquiry. Which was different to the customer service email address listed on the UK website. I highlighted this discrepancy to her, to which she simply said “I don’t know anything about the website it’s not my job”.

The telephone call ended with the ‘manager’ of the Pelham Street store hanging up the telephone while I was mid-sentence.

Really disappointing that a brand I love has such amateurish, unprofessional staff doing such a poor job of representing the company.

Reactive customer service

Against all odds given previous reviews, after complaining of having received a broken item (decor), they have immediately arranged for a replacement which has arrived and it is ok.

A first bad experience w JA. I ordered a globo console and an…

I ordered a globo console and an ottoman from JA. While the items looks fine, there were serious delivery and price discrepancy issues. 1. The JA google ad showed a 30% discount from the displayed sale price and a final “ you pay this much” amount. The company failed to honor saying it was a “Google error “. I will have to dispute the difference. 2. The ottoman was prearranged to be shipped to me in September. Instead it was shipped immediately while I have been on a 3 months long trip overseas ( still am). The console was set to be delivered on a date a neighbor was able to be there to accept. However JA failed to obtain the COI in time, causing an unpleasant inconvenience to my neighbor and a delay in the delivery. Worst is, I asked to be connected with a high level admin to resolve the above, and the person managing the Dallas, TX store has simply ignored my request leaving me no choice but a cc dispute regarding the price difference. A shame since the merchandise is beautiful.

Poor customer experience

The worst customer experience l've come across in a long time. I brought two lounge chairs and days later the price of them were reduced some way. I tried to be reasonable and talk about my frustration but they couldn't see my point of view. I kept being given a generic answer and they wouldn't call me back They said they'd read my emails but in the same breath kept referring to me as Thomas (my name is Maria)... this multiple times.

You should also note if you want to return things you have to organise it yourself and pay for it. With furniture it’s a nightmare. I used to absolutely love this brand so it’s broken my heart I will no longer be able to use them.

Avoid this company at all costs

Avoid this company at all costs . We wanted to return something we bought. We emailed them for an RMA number but they never returned any of our emails. We then had to contact Paypal and open a case against them. They saw the case has been opened and sent us an email asking us to return the item which we did, and they never refunded the money . Luckily, Paypal did was a terrible company to buy from.

Literally the WORST shopping experience…

Literally the WORST shopping experience I've ever had. I ordered a Christmas gift for a friend on 11/30 (plenty of time for Christmas delivery...or so I thought). When the item still had not arrived by the middle of December, I called on three separate occasions and was told each time that the order was 'picked" and ready to ship. After an additional week I managed to get an email reply stating that JA does not ship to PO Boxes. This would have been an excellent information to have when placing the order! I was told that the item would be shipped by an expedited shipping method. When I called today, the item has still not been shipped, so the rude and entitled customer service rep generously offered a refund. This company SUCKS. Instead of coming up with new dated and "ironic" merchandise, maybe spend some money training your staff!

Don't buy in this shop

Been in to the Brompton Rd shop a few times in the last couple of weeks. Never felt welcome. Staff lazy and uninterested. Had to pull items of furniture out myself. Bought a large piece of furniture that finally was delivered today but unfortunately didn't fit the space I was hoping it would. Called in less than an hour of it being delivered to ask for a return. Was told that if I had purchased the item online, they would do a refund but as I purchased it in the shop, they would not. Makes no sense.

Sad because they're just down the road from my new flat and need much more to fit it out but will NOT being going back to JA.

Broken items sent customer service just…

Broken items sent customer service just ignores you.

I ordered two salt and pepper cellars from Jonathan Adler on 8/11/22 they arrived quickly but when I opened them I realised that both items were broken and one part of the item detached rendering them useless. I emailed Jonathan Adler straight away their website states a 48 hour reply window. That window came and went and I have had no reply, three more emails and a case raised by PayPal and they have ignored all of this as well. Terrible company, terrible customer service.

Elephant Menorah received today Tuesday…

Elephant Menorah received today Tuesday the 18th October 2022 such a shame totally misled my the website description please see below what it says

An elemental animal form with subtle layers of pattern and decoration, finished with a soft satin matte glaze. This posh pachyderm starts its journey in our Soho pottery studio where Jonathan and his team hand-sculpt the original model in clay. The prototype is then sent to our workshop in Peru where skilled artisans produce each menorah in high-fired stoneware. Unexpected and original.
To my dismay the menorah is actually made in China and not Peru as in the listing

This brand is not worth the trouble

If I could give zero stars, I totally would. This brand is full of products with overrated prices with appalling customer service to match. We ordered two pillows from Jonathan Adler, Kensington store. Since we live in the Netherlands and there is no EU store for Adler, I contacted their customer service who said they could ship these to the Netherlands. I thought of arranging the shipping myself but because of the hassle with paperwork after Brexit, I thought it’s best they do it as I assumed they must be doing this on a regular basis. We paid 50 GBP for shipping alone (twice as expensive as a direct estimate from DHL). When we received the pillows though, we had to pay 107 Euros is taxes and duties. This wasn’t unexpected as VAT and duties have to be paid in the EU but the amount we had to pay was 2x what we were supposed to pay. We should have rejected the shipment then, but in all naivety, I thought I could figure this out with Adler. I emailed the customer service many times to get more info on what they declared and they said they don’t have the details and that I should contact the DHL directly (even though they were the shippers). Once I got in touch with DHL, it turned out that the excess charges were levied because the shipper did not include specific shipment details, which results in default costs being applied and taxes are calculated on that. I promptly emailed this back to their customer service who said they would get back to me on my request for a partial refund. This was back in June and two reminder and two months later, they have disappeared into thin air. So, if you are reading this review and want to do yourself a favor, avoid this brand. Their Milano concentric pillows (large square ones) were also of poor quality, we bought these in blue and green. The blue one is okay but the fabric on the green one looks like it’s very old and heavily used. Might be this one pillow but after our experience, none of this was worth the trouble! The total price for these two pillows we paid incl. shipping and taxes is 412 Euros!!!

The items and their quality are…are fabulous IF they arrive.

The items and their quality are fabulous; the attention to detail is sublime. However J Adler's customer service is so appealing I'd suggest not buying from this designer. After purchasing 'in stock' items, my shipment got backlogged for 6 months without the company ever telling me about the delay nor giving me a refund option. Trying to contact their customer service takes hours as well. The quality is incredible but with how expensive it is, your money is better spent with a reliable designer until their shops reopen.

Awful company, AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

Awful company, Rude and no communication with each other in this company. You’d think a premium brand would be better, but they are well below par. This company should be ashamed, I ordered 2 items and they weren’t even in stock I waited 10 days and still no contact. So I emailed them and I got a reply saying I’d have to wait longer so they can see why I haven’t received my items, No apology at all, long story short I only received one item. The other was never in stock. I would highly avoid obviously the owner does not care about their customers! AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

The London Store is excellent!

My review is specifically for the Sloane Avenue store in London where I couldn't have received better service. I'd called ahead to check an item was in the showroom and as soon as I arrived I was given all the help I needed. I was even able to use an online discount code I had in the store itself. The item itself seems beautifully made and of good quality.

Lazy staff at London JA shop is one of…

Lazy staff at London JA shop is one of the J Adler brand most prominent features, poor quality items, abundance of them, that is another story, blasé, slow moving, unenthusiastic, and rude sale assistants is something that strikes at first, they are extremely ignorant, not taking care for customer or the items they are paid to sell, and I mean, truly, they do not appear to care in the slightest.
Everything look quite dirty and as if it was taken out of skip, regarding some items it is worse than one can fathom. I don’t understand why people who work there are still employed? Absolutely unbelievable, quality of items is quite bad, to elaborate on that, China, India assembled mostly, maybe some of the designs are appealing due to interesting ideas involved, yet at the same time it’s not something that hasn’t been done before, just compilation of ideas taken from artists who created magnificent things over the ages. Would not recommend going there such a wasted trip. Shame. Some press can do good for a while but not for long.
