We're always working to make Twine a valuable platform for all our users, including those on the free tier. We know that our current limits on free job applications and the portfolio system can be a barrier, and we're actively reviewing ways to improve the experience for everyone.

Regarding pricing: Twine Pro and Premium are both currently available as a monthly subscription, not just annually. You can pay $13.99 per month and cancel any time. If this wasn’t clear, or if you had issues during checkout, that’s definitely something we want to fix, so thank you for highlighting it.

We’ve built Twine to support freelancers by making client connections more direct and transparent, with no hidden commissions. But we know there’s always room for improvement—especially in making the site more intuitive and accessible.

If you’re open to it, I’d love to hear more details about what you found clunky about the portfolio system and what you’d like to see changed. Your feedback genuinely helps us improve the platform.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m really sorry to hear your experience felt frustrating.

Just to explain Twine uses a freemium model. You can apply for up to 15 jobs each month on the free plan, but once you hit that limit, you'll need to wait until your applications reset or consider upgrading to Twine Pro. Pro includes 50 monthly applications, higher visibility, and direct contact details for clients.

Also, some jobs have a limited number of applications from free users. If you’re seeing a message saying “Free applications limit reached,” it may mean that the job has already reached that cap for free-tier members. These limits vary by job role and location, and are in place to ensure clients aren’t overwhelmed by too many applications. Note, they can invite you to work on a job via our search.

Our model is designed to keep things transparent, avoid high commission fees, and give freelancers the freedom to communicate directly with clients. But we understand it’s not for everyone.

To clarify, Twine is designed to help freelancers connect directly with clients, which is why we provide client contact details (email or phone) on Twine Pro. This allows freelancers to communicate more openly rather than keeping all interactions locked within our platform. Many freelancers have told us they prefer this over commission-based models that take a large cut of their earnings. However, I totally appreciate that this feels like you're doubling up the work – we've got a product change planned to fix this.
