I broke my ankle and needed to cancel a Viking cruise. TripMate reimbursed the 50% of the trip. Viking returned the other 50%. Both companies were easy to deal with. I am completely satisfied and will use both again in the future.

When you buy insurance you hope to not use it. But when you do you want it to be easy and seamless to be resolved. Trip Mate was such that experience.

My claim was paid to about 80%. I am ok with that as for part of my payments for care was in cash. I did have the receipt that included the cash amount but I am still good with the claim / claims process.

I got bit by some unseen flies near the pyramids. One of the ankle bites got increasingly red and swollen, and I needed to see the ship’s doctor. I had a decent exam and received both a topical and oral med to bring down inflammation. (They worked, but the doctor neglected to tell me the one med would make me sensitive to the sun! Try avoiding sunshine in Egypt.)
Trip Mate needed more info to process the claim, and we provided that. Quite satisfied with a quick resolution.
Wear full socks at the pyramids, people, even when it’s 87 degrees.

We had a good experience with the claim service. We did not have an agent that we worked with, but we did call and ask a few questions.
We followed the instructions on the claim that we filled out. The notes provided most everything to process the claim.
The sad part is we wanted to take the trip and see Amsterdam, but medial did raise its head. This is where the insurance was worth the money we paid for it.

My wife and I booked a Viking river cruise in France September 2024. The airline delayed us due to mechanical reasons which in turn caused us to arrive in Lyon France on the 2nd day of our 8 day cruise.After submitting all the documents and itinerary Tripmate offered us 46 dollars for a trip that cost $10K. We never asked nor expected a huge refund but 23 dollars a piece for a whole missed first day plus planned excursions is somewhat of an insult. I will definitely not ever recommend or use your services again.

After breaking an arm we submitted our claim October 24, 2024 with the appropriate documentation. We opted for an echeck which was sent to us around November 26, 2024. None of our 3 large banking institutions would accept the echecks.
Trip Mate told us it would take 21 days to reissue the checks. After calling numerous times and getting the same run around we were told the check had been reissued.
We have spoken to 7 different claims representative. We asked to speak with the supervisor but were told there wasnt one, just call the claim line back to deal with a different one.
Each call is answered the same way------your claim has been approved, your check has been made out, and your check will be mailed in 10 days.
We do not have our money yet. We will probably need to contact the state insurance people, BBB, or an attorney. It is the biggest run around we have ever experienced.
We will never do business with them again.

We purchased "cancel any time for any reason" insurance for our Viking cruise to Australia/New Zealand in December 2024. We did not know the insurance was with a third party - Trip Mate. We found out on 12/6/24 that our beloved Golden Retriever, Sadie, was dying of an inoperable nerve sheath tumor on her spine. We called Viking that day to discuss our options. The customer service rep assured us that we would be 100% reimbursed to our original form of payment (minus the cost of the trip insurance). Based on this information we cancelled the cruise. We filed the claim the same day with Trip Mate and supplied all requested documentation. We received a denial email 10 days later. We have appealed and submitted a doctor's note from my physician stating that I was in no condition to travel to Australian and he was advising me not to travel. No word from Viking or Trip Mate. We spent $80,000 on two cabins, business class air and excursions. These companies lie and steal from elders!

This was the first time I had used trip insurance and on the first return leg the Mexican airline was extremely delayed so that I could not make my connection. The connecting flight on Frontier didn't really care. No accommodation. Frontier said I have to buy a new ticket in full. So I submitted the cost of the new ticket to Trip Mate as a claim and even though I couldn't get written confirmation from the Mexican airline to document the delay, I submitted the documentation that I tried to get the information. I was very pleasantly surprised when my claim was paid in full.

We had atrip for eight scheduled to Asia in Oct 2024. My husband was hospitalized three days before the trip with a severe case of sepsis, and was in the hospital quite ill for 5 days.
He is now recovered and we have since rescheduled the trip, this time in March of 2025.
We had problems contacting Trip Mate, and were treated rather rudely.
One concern was that all the forms were to be handled electronically and they were not. But, I was told rudely that three asked to be sent checks. i have all the paperwork. And this is not true.
As a former business owner, I feel that more training is necessary in the customer service area.
This is a tense time while waiting on the process to be complete.
However, all our funds were returned to us, and the checks cleared the bank without a problem.
I wish I had read the reveiws earlier before again using Trip Mate. I am anxious about the entire situation.
I cannot wait to give a glowing review.

Purchased trip insurance, good price, submitted medical claim and it was processed right away, would definitely use them again, used another company on cruise trip and it took months to get reimbursed…..got our check for this trip within 30 days!

Purchased trip mate insurance for our trip , we were delayed by one day because of weather.returned home and filed for trip interruption refund.received notice on sept.19th of approval.never received checks in mail.called on October 9th and was told to wait one more week.called October 17th and was advised to have them do stop payment and they would issue e-checks.stop payment was done on 28th.called again on November 15th to check status.received notice November 20th that claim was finalized.payment was stopped by them on the 25th.received another notice that claim was finalized and still nothing.multiple calls have brought nothing but a runaround.asked to speak with supervisor and was told they are busy and will call me.i am waiting!

TripMate made me and family feel like they really cared and understood our situation. TripMate responded very quickly to claim; which enabled my wife and I to focus on our daughter. I purchased travel insurance that included trip interruption from trip mate. My wife and I had purchased a side trip from Vienna to a sound of music tour in Salzburg Austria and due to excessive flooding the train was cancelled on the day of the tour. The tour required a 24 hr notice to get refund. I submitted documentation of the train cancellation and the tour info and after a month I was told I was denied due to insufficient documentation and my claim was no longer accessible and communication stopped! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! They would not even cover my small side trip of less than $500.
