trully fantastic surgeon

the team at TC have been kind and enthusastic and i have to mention how extremely happy i am with my results and it looks exactly how i wanted it to!!
i hope this can be understood beyond the 3 star (2.5 if possible) rating and this is taken as good-faith criticism based on my personal experience to help improve the service for future patients. had to be short for character count limit. TC = TransgenderCare.

i chose TC because:
- positive reviews and testimonies
- 'psychoaesthetic' approach to surgery. this is gender affirming care and i felt seen as a trans person, not just like plastic surgery patient.
- not just referred to as 'FTM surgery'. i am nonbinary and i felt strongly about not being respected and not pushed into a box
- no super low and strict BMI limit for surgery. i get put off and doubtful of a surgeon's skill if they are so restrictive.

some issues i had:
- i was told the price could go up cos of hospital fees so expected it, but was only asked to pay on the day that it had gone up by several £100s (after provisionally booking surgery date, doing relevant tests etc). after expressing how this felt strange, i kindly got the original price, but put me in a difficult position.
- home-test for MRSA was sent to my address without warning; didn't know i'd be posted anything so hadn't thought to update i had moved house week before. would've appreciated checking for correct/most appropriate address before posting something.
- one week before surgery, hospital location was changed; still harley street so fine for travel, but the last-minute change lead to problems: of not being able to get replies to double-check info with new hospital. was told by TC i could have a direct relative until going to theatre, and that post op visiting depended on staff constraints/my recovery. unfortunately this turned out untrue- wasn't allowed any visitors at any stage. this is probably my biggest regret about the process as getting to see family after waking up would have been really nice.

hospital experience:
- mostly positive.
- anaesthetist was very good, i felt calm and really happy when i woke up, and more peacefully drifting off.
-nurses were extremely responsive to my call button!! practically immediate at all hours
-it was a shame to be misgendered a few times (despite the form at the hospital including a section about pronouns) but lucky that i was too happy to care a lot. i understand the hospital is not TC but perhaps TC could do more to emphasise the significance of hospital staff paying attention to this when caring for their trans patients.
- discharged next day and extremely happy to not go home with drains!! minimal pain and felt really good leaving the hospital.

post-op:
- was told i'd have a call with mr vahidi just before discharge, and 2 days after discharge. neither happened, weren't mentioned. didn't chase this up cos honestly i was too tired and not worried about anything.
- first 6 months of post op care were good, scheduled checkups as expected and felt like i could contact them about any issues. i like the intention of prolonged care post-op.

six months post-op issues:
- in my 6 month appt, they didn't have access to my photos/comments i had sent in, about something i was only mildly concerned about checking whether was normal. was told they would get back to me asap; this did not happen.
- emailed several times over next 3 months. when i tried a different email address, i did eventually get a reply saying that junk mail filters had accidentally blocked me (it's annoying but these things happen!!) and my emails had been unblocked.
- unfortunately this was six weeks ago. after replying that i didn't need a phone call, i just wanted some responses to my previous emails, i haven't heard anything at all which is quite a shame.

for improvement:
- a clearer, specific, accurate written timeline of the process from first consultation to surgery!!
- further openness and efficiency in communication via email. phone calls were frequent and v informative however sometimes i struggled to get information sent to me clearly in writing (i prefer emails)
- more thorough checks on how things are progressing and checking on things that are supposed to happen (eg appointments, communications etc)

I had Top Surgery with Dr Vahidi and the amazing team on the 1st of Feb 2023. It was truly an amazing experience. I contacted them and had my consult and surgery within a month. They answered all my questions and made sure I felt confident and understand everything. After the surgery, they have taken great care of me, and have always answered quickly whenever I have had any queries. Special shout out to Jordan for answering my flurries of texts. I can honestly not recommend this top notch team more. I’m in love with my results and have never felt more confident or more like myself. So thank you all so much!!

I had top surgery nearly 3 months ago and I absolutely love my results! Mr Vahidi was kind and professional during the entire process and the same goes for the rest of the team. I always knew if something went wrong I could contact Mr Vahidi, Jordan or Jason and receive a response immediately which put me at ease during my recovery. Truly nothing I can fault.

A few months ago my son had a double incision top surgery, and Dr Vahidi, Jordan, and the hospital nurses were brilliant. They made sure my son had everything he needed and was as comfortable as possible, and Dr Vahidi even came to our house to check up on my son and make sure everything was healing as it was supposed to. I can't recommend them enough, they're incredibly supportive, professional and caring.

I had top surgery with transgendercare on March 22nd 2023.

Honestly I couldn’t of asked for a better surgery experience. The entire team especially Jordan and Mr Vahidi are superstars. I must of sent emails basically everyday most long ones from contacted to set up a free e consult right till the day of surgery.

They answered very quickly with good responses and even told me some suggestions on preparing the skin for the surgery which was really exciting to do leading up to the date.

The day of the surgery it was very relaxing with jokes but of course kept professional. They lightened the mood and made me feel comfortable and not tense all the way to lying on the theatre bed and getting put to sleep.

I woke up with no pain and the pain was managed and I was throughly looked after for the night and morning I spent at the hospital. I can’t imagine getting surgery and not spending the night it was good for my body to rest and to have professionals managing my pain and checking my temperature and blood pressure.

I had my partner pick me up in the morning and we made the daring three hour train trip back home so I was more comfortable. The first five days are abit uncomfortable but staying in bed and resting is what I recommend after the drains are out on day five you’re much more comfortable. I had surgery Wednesday and the pain meds was making me feel sick and dizzy so I came off them on the Friday and by Sunday was off paracetamol that I’d taken. I used ice packs and was very careful with how much, far and for lifting and reaching with my arms to manage the pain from then.

The drains appointment and bandage appointment was really relaxed with how nervous I was it would hurt. Jordan made a really good appointment and made sure to move at my pace and talk me through what he was going to do before doing it. Even got me some water during my drains one.

They make sure to take photos and videos which you can ask them for or well I have haha but I also took a-lot of my own as well.

From the date of surgery to currently 5 weeks post op I’m texting Jordan on the number they give you for any questions basically every day to every other day and Jordan with how busy he must be answers promptly.

I’m healing well and have started massaging and scar care on my chest. I’m still wearing the compression binder which does get annoying by week five for myself personally but it’s all worth it keeping it on till they say for the best results. As long as you follow their guidance, rules and advice you’ll have an amazing experience. I was worried about needing a revision as I thought my chest was quite big and would end up with dog ears but I don’t which is really good to see.

I highly recommend transgendercare and Mr Vahidi as a surgeon. The experience is a fun, professional and nerve easing journey and you really feel like you’ve became apart of a forever family with the team and even other patients. I talk to two of their other patients about our recovery along with other things. Family and friends are made within the experience not just a surgery.

Oh they also helped me through a stressful fight with my bank to make the payment and were patient with receiving it from the fact my bank did not like me trying to pay someone a large amount considering my highest payment isn’t a lot with being a student.

I’m really happy with my results and the can’t thank the team at transgendercare enough.

I had double incision top surgery with Mr Vahidi at the Fitzrovia and I've been so grateful for my experience! Mr Vahidi is very friendly, and Jordan has been great and supportive. The surgery went well and I feel very supported by the entire team. The wait time was really short compared to other services, and the price was also comparable, so I would highly recommend going through Transgendercare for surgery!

Great experience so far, I must be sending an email a day at this point but every single email is responded to quickly and in a friendly but informative manner, in my face to face appointment I was made to feel comfortable and felt that I was really listened to

I had my FTM top surgery with Mr Vahidi at the end of Janaury. I felt exceptionally well cared for by the whole team from the start - communication is fast and reliable, the surgery itself was a breeze and recovery is going really really well! I’m so happy with my results.

Everyone that I have met or spoken with at Transgendercare really puts you at ease. Their patient care, both pre and post op is outstanding and there is always someone available for support if you need them. I cannot recommend Mr Vahidi and his team highly enough.

Jason is absolutely incredible and patient, and is so friendly! I appreciate how quickly they reply and how informative they are. I feel very comfortable going to them for help, and I honestly can't wait to have a consultation with Dr. Vahidi and get this needed double mastectomy! :)
