Do not trust this company!!

I listed my car for sale on an auction website whilst still waiting for the paperwork to be processed through Motorway, but received a call from Tom directly arranging a viewing on my car. (After speaking with the auction site following the viewing, I now know this should not have happened as the paperwork had not yet been submitted) But Tom would’ve been aware of this.

Me and Tom spoke on the phone multiple times and I explained that I had not yet received the logbook in the post after removing my private plate. He assured me this was not a problem and that he would still be able to purchase the car.

On the day of the viewing, he initially said he would arrive at 11:30am, but this changed multiple times throughout the day. At first, Tom was supposed to come with a truck to collect the car from my address. This then changed to him getting a train and even asking me to collect him from the station, which I found quite unprofessional. He later changed the viewing time again to 5:35pm, saying he was going to view a van first.

He eventually arrived at 5:50pm, started my car and immediately claimed there was a problem with it and that “the engine is knackered.” Bearing in mind, I had taken the car to a garage just 4 days prior to ensure everything was fine and ready for sale.

He then said he would only offer a maximum of £2,000 for the car, despite it being listed at auction for £3,972. He also implied that I must have known something was wrong with the vehicle, which suggested I was lying and was aware there was a problem this made me feel very uncomfortable and actually a bit intimidated especially being a female alone.

When I asked what exactly he believed was wrong with the engine, he could not give a proper explanation apart from repeatedly saying “the engine’s knackered.” He then took a video of the engine while asking me to rev it, and went on to say I shouldn’t be allowed to list the car again on the auction site, making me feel guilty despite genuinely believing there was nothing wrong with my car. He then quickly left in a van after I refused to accept £2000.

I have since spoken to Motorway and the auction team, who are now aware of his behaviour and confirmed that it would not be his decision whether the car could be listed again.

Overall, I do not believe he ever intended to genuinely purchase my car for the listed price. Instead, it felt like a tactic to waste my time, pressure me into accepting a much lower offer, and make me doubt the condition of my vehicle — despite me even taking a day off work for the viewing although this wasn’t needed despite the time he eventually arrived.

I just want other people to be vigilant and aware of this concerning behaviour, especially women.

I would advise caution when purchasing from TPW Trading Ltd.

Before the sale, communication was good and responsive. However, after payment was made, this changed significantly.

I purchased a van from TPW Trading Ltd. Within 7 days, the engine warning light appeared. The vehicle was returned for repair and I was later told that the issues had been resolved. Unfortunately, the warning light reappeared the very next morning.

An independent garage then confirmed that the catalytic converter and DPF had been removed, which is a serious issue. This was particularly concerning as I had asked directly whether any components were missing and was told that there were not.

During the period the van was being repaired, communication was difficult at times and updates were limited. The situation caused significant inconvenience, including loss of time and earnings.

A refund was eventually obtained, but this required persistence.

Overall, this was a stressful experience, and I would recommend that buyers carry out thorough independent checks before purchasing. AND.DO NOT TRUST TOM HE’S A BIG WEBSTER. HIGHLY AVOID!!!!

Initial viewing was with Tom who gave us freedom to view the vans with no sales pressure and allowing the unaccompanied test drive
Liz completed the final handover and again very friendly and helpful with assistance provided with vehicle taxation
Overall based on our experience would recommend TWP

I went to see a car that was advertised at an extremely reasonable price. When I got there Liz was very helpful, not pushy in any way and let me make my own mind up about the sale. Unfortunately it had an intermittent sensor fault but since it was within the warranty period they fixed it free of charge within a day. 100% recommended service and I will definitely be going there again for my next vehicle.

From start to finish Liz was fantastic, was completely transparent with all details and customer services was perfect. Everything was done as agreed and all timescales were met. Delivery was beyond expectations as the van was delivered all the way to Edinburgh and within days of purchase. Van was clean, presentable and all paper work was supplied. Highly recommend and if I’m purchasing again this will certainly be a place I check out!!

When a minor issue came up a couple of days after buying, they sorted it quickly and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Their customer service is second to none. Bought a brilliant little Fiesta off these guys today. I rocked up out of the blue and was so impressed with Tom and Liz's customer service. Offered for me to take a look at any car I wanted and give it a quick run around the block. They were so warm and helpful, especially with someone who hadn't bought a car before.
