Absolutely brilliant resource for composers of any level. I have taken three of their courses, and they all go into a mind-blowing amount of detail.

The courses are both very informative and very entertaining, and all the tutors are experienced and highly engaging.

The interactive videos are unique, as far as I know - these help the course to be tailored to an individual's specific needs.

All the ThinkSpace staff with whom I have interacted have been professional, knowledgable, and incredibly helpful and friendly.

Highly recommended for anyone aspiring to be a professional composer for media!

I graduated in January 2022, it was a great way to obtain a Masters degree from a UK university fully remotely while being able to live in my home country. The 1 on 1s with the tutors every week are very useful, lots of projects were made, which helps with building up a portfolio.

I graduated in the summer of 2024, and I am incredibly satisfied with my experience at Thinkspace Education.

Materials and Assignments

The course materials are continuously updated to reflect the latest industry standards. One of the highlights was the real-life scoring examples with a live orchestra, which were absolutely wonderful. The modules also blend theory and practical work seamlessly. Feedback is available through various channels including webinars, tutor sessions, and assignment markings. I especially appreciated the personal assistance from industry professionals, which has been invaluable. I learned not only media scoring and orchestration but also essential composer skills such as creating realistic mockups, and mixing and mastering my music. This experience significantly deepened my understanding of the entire music production process.

Staff

The staff at Thinkspace Education are highly professional and bring amazing industry experience to the table. Just look at the tutors' credits! For instance, Norman Ludwin has over 200 IMDB credits for films like Spiderman, Coco, and The Incredibles. They actively incorporate feedback to continually improve the courses. I felt that they genuinely wanted the best for me and pushed us all towards successful careers. Guy Michelmore, the famous YouTube star, is one of the driving forces behind it all and still hosts insightful webinars for students and alumni.

Courses

Upon graduation, you retain access to all course materials, including short courses. Even though I didn't initially study game music, I plan to dive into those course materials next! Thinkspace Education also offers lifetime access to any new courses they add, which is a fantastic benefit.

Community

The student and alumni community is vibrant and incredibly supportive. We have a lively Discord community where students, alumni, tutors, and staff regularly interact and support one another.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with my experience and can wholeheartedly recommend Thinkspace Education to anyone looking to not only learn the skills but also build a career in the industry. Thanks to the tutors' help and support, I earned my first IMDB credits this summer, just after graduation. I firmly believe this wouldn't have been possible without Thinkspace Education.

I'm on the Songwriting and Music Production MA (recently renamed Creative Music Production MA). I started in January 2024, hoping the course would give me much needed accountability, offer mentorship from industry professionals, and be flexible enough to fit in around family life. It has not disappointed,

I'm finishing songs and mixing/mastering to a level where I feel proud to share my songs and release them.

There is a genuine sense of community amongst tutors and students, and at a fraction of the cost of a traditional university masters too. Highly recommended!

As a current student in ThinkSpace Education's MFA in Professional Media Composition, I am extremely satisfied with my experience. The program's comprehensive curriculum covers essential topics like orchestration, arranging, and film scoring, achieving a great balance between theory and practical application.

What sets this program apart is its focus on career preparation, including modules on the business side of media composition. This practical approach ensures students are well-equipped for a successful career in the industry.

Overall, I am very happy with my decision to enroll in ThinkSpace Education's MFA in Professional Media Composition and highly recommend it to anyone serious about pursuing a career in media composition.

I did the MA in Professional Media Composition and was pleased with the focus and organization of study topics and materials, as well as the availability of tutors and their willingness and ability to communicate critical feedback in clear, constructive ways. For a remote program I was surprised at the networking opportunities as everyone is positive, supportive, and respectful.

The Sound Design for Video Games course is currently severely lacking in direction and staffing which makes it hard to recommend to anyone interested in making a meaningful dent in their game audio education in the sound design realm. While staff, students, and the overall environment are lovely, the SDVG course in particular is falling very far behind any of Thinkspace's musical degrees and short courses.
Outdated material that no longer pertains to the exams, a severe shortage of tutors available for 121 sessions, and next to no topical webinars besides peer reviews (vs. well over 20 music-related webinars over the same timespan) stand in opposition to very polished, multi-part intensives, interviews, and documentary-style deep dives in the musical modules.
Some of the tutors listed on the website haven't been involved with Thinkspace in any notable capacity within 2024 yet still are listed as if they're actively contributing.
This wouldn't be a big deal had the SDVG degree not been priced nearly identical to the other, much more "polished" degree programs on offer.

This is post-graduate course with unlimited opportunities to learn. I say this because a student is expected to be proactive in taking advantage of the program. There is a set syllabus, but a major advantage of this program is the extra activities like pitch challenges, and most of all, feedback from and close contact with working professionals.

I just completed the Composing for Video Games MA course.

All I can say is WOW. This is my second online masters degree (the first thru a different university in the US). The course content is awesome and regularly updated, the staff are all incredibly talented working professionals. The regular webinars are insightful and interesting and you always leave better than when you got there. To top it all off, the way that TSE has made a community of learners from literally all over the world feel so small and tight knit is truly something remarkable.

I would say I am sad to be leaving, but there let graduates hang around after they finish and they maintain access to future webinars and course material after they finish. I cannot express enough the value of what you get with Thinkspace. It is second to none. My expectations were far exceeded.

To anyone considering joining the Thjnkspace community: do it. I promise you won’t regret it.

I am a masters student, I have also been through several of the short courses. The short courses are concise, well presented and bring you up to speed in a range of different production and music theory techniques.

I have completed an online masters before with a different company and had no interaction with any of the staff on the course, and they didn’t produce their own material. This environment is far more interactive. The 121’s with industry professionals have been particularly useful, the peer reviews (where your work is reviewed in a live setting), and especially peer support from other students on your course making you feel part of an online community. You get access to all course materials on every other course for life once you have finished, and remain part of the wider community.

I have been using Logic for 15 years and still learnt a lot in this course. The individual chapters do not go into great depth, but it is very instructive to see how professionals structure their workflow and approach certain tasks. Many thanks to Guy and his team, it was a pleasure to work through the course.

During 2023 I did a number of short courses with ThinkSpace. The content is excellent and I was so impressed I signed up for a Masters. This rocks - there is no substitute for the access to the many, many working professionals this provides - who routinely provide detailed feedback on your work. Highly recommended.

I just loved this course! It has 6 modules and Tim shows you thoroughly how to mix & master in LogicPro and Cubase. What I love about this course is that you get structured knowlegde. Finally a course that does that! You have many tutorials on YouTube that are all over the place and I’ve struggled to find a good concise course. Tim is an excelent tutor, Bradley asks the right questions so they’re a great duo 😊 You’ll also have the chance to apply what you’ve learned right away because you have access to all the projects that they did as well as test your knowledge with Quizzes. Overall, I would recommend this course to everyone who wants to learn more about mixing and mastering. And I think I’m gonna apply for a PG Certificate this year, wish me luck! 🥰

To start off my experience is with the degree program and not the short courses. I honestly cannot say enough about how great of an experience this has been. For being an online bases school the level of support and interactivity is outstanding.

As an educator myself I understand how important it is to re-evaluate how well everything is working. Being on the slower paced version of the MFA in Multimedia Composition, I have seen this school constantly re-evaluate how they are working with students, and if what they are offering is relevant to the field.

Any of the issues that I have run into over the years have been addressed, or they are working on fixing them as they are evolving what this school is.

Don't expect college professors, and I mean that in the best way possible. Where as you can receive a degree, and you are working in an academic environment. The absolute best aspect of this school is that you are learning from people who work in the industry, and people who genuinely care and understand what you are going through as a student, and in my case adult who is also working 2 jobs.

My experience has been nothing short of life changing, and has helped me to rekindle my love and passion for writing music, teaching, and game design.

Learned a great deal and have gone back over the course several times as there is so much useful information

Guy has an excellent pedigree on both presenting and composing. And it's clear there's been a lot of 'head banging' through his career in the music business. Along the lines of "How can this person be so stupid?" and non-concurrently, "That violinist, lost me. I understood about 50% of what she was saying about bowing techniques."

This makes the lovely man well equipped to tutor stupids like me. It's a great course, explains clearly, and avoids unnecessary complexity and jargon. I had no problem in understanding the concepts and practicalities of what was being taught. But there was so much in each lesson that I’ll be revisiting them until I retain all the knowledge.

The course is great, and the great extends to the value for money too.

Excellent courses. I have taken a few and have enjoyed them.

I really appreciate ThinkSpace Ed. Guy is not only an amazing teacher, but he makes learning fun. Trying to grasp the concepts are hard, but with the videos and a downloadable .pdf document it makes it way easier to listen to Guy and read along, making it more comprehensible. For the cost of the course, the material available and the fact you can view them as often or as necessary as you like make it a win-win program worth investing time in. Thanks Guy!

It was a whole load of fun. I looked forward to each instructional video and every exercise. Guy is great.

I am SO glad that I came across Thinkspace and Guy's teachings. It has resparked my interest in the music field (I'm 57 now and have been out of the field a LOOOONG time). I hope to purchase and take more of the classes available.
