Could not recommend The Second Life Library enough!
We received the discovery box and think it’s excellent for kids as they become more independent readers.
My daughter was over the moon to open her own gorgeous parcel to find a hand written note and a collection of fabulous books - she started reading straight away!
Such an excellent way to encourage screen free time.
We also have the bookmark which my daughter is proudly using already to track her books.
We love the concept of giving books a second life, and it’s a great message to be teaching our little ones.

Order arrived super quickly and I absolutely loved the books chosen! (I wouldn’t have come across them myself, so it’s great to have new titles & authors to explore!) Also, the books are in such good condition. An all round great experience and will definitely be ordering again!

Books poor condition rubbish selection and only 3 ??? Can buy better quality from a charity shop. Rubbish comms packaging poor. Simple all round Rubbish. Cancelling subscription is near impossible be careful as you think you’ve cancelled but it’s only paused a month. Books

I have a one and a four year old, and both of them love to be read to. I'm also passionate that secondhand doesn't have to mean second best, and so this company couldn't fit our family ethos better. I've had three boxes from the Second Life Library and my children were so excited to receive them. Even my one-year-old did a happy dance unwrapping hers. I massively recommend buying a box - they're a lovely gift too

I bought a 5+ book box from this lovely company. It was delivered promptly and included a sweet note and bookmark.
I was touched that the seller added an extra book to this parcel for free!
I would definitely buy from this seller again and am waiting in eager anticipation for a 5+ subscription to be introduced!

I can't recommend The Second Life Library enough! Reading has always been such a big part of my life and I have been very keen to integrate it naturally into my daughters' lives in a way where they are very used to being around books, choosing books, handling books, seeing books as a treat and reading as a worthwhile activity. I don't want books to be ornaments on a book shelf, I want my three year old to be confident in choosing books and using them to further enhance her little world. However I am also realistic and know that in many ways, engaging with second hand books is a much more sustainable way of creating little readers both through minimising the number of books that go to landfill but also through the confidence for little hands to pick up the books because they have been pre-loved anyway so it feels less untouchable than a brand new book. One of our favourite weekend activities is picking a couple of books from the second hand bookshop, so when I saw The Second Life Library, I thought it was such a brilliant idea and that it would be perfect for my daughters -something that they can both enjoy at 3 years old and 9 months old because each monthly subscription of pre-loved books is perfectly curated to their age range. When the first subscription arrived, my eldest daughter was thrilled to see her name on a parcel and the handwritten note, stickers and reading tracker bookmark are the perfect extra touches. All six books across the two age ranges have been enjoyed multiple times by both girls and we already can't wait for next month's subscription. Thank you for what you are doing Millie both in terms of reducing the amount of books going to landfill and helping to foster the reading enthusiasm in our little ones🩷.

Such a lovely idea, I saw it recomended on Instagram and so glad I’ve done it for my little boy. You can add what your child’s interests are and the books we received were spot on! You can tell so much care and attention went into picking it. I have told all my mum friends for when subscriptions start again! 💕

Absolutely love this little company, I saw them recommended on Instagram and quickly set up a subscription for my nearly 4 year old. When I saw the second life library shared on instagram I rushed to the website to set up a subscription for my 2 year old son. It’s such a great idea! It’s hard to know what books I should be reading to him at this age so this takes the guess work out of it. I love that they are second hand as well but still in amazing condition!
My little boy has a speech delay and tonight he let me read the whole book to him and even repeated some words back to me which means the world to me.

Omg, the books are genuinely amazing! Even though they’re second-hand, they arrived in absolutely immaculate condition — you honestly would never know they weren’t brand new. The quality and care that went into the order was outstanding.
What made it even more special was that the owners of the company hand-delivered my order because they live locally, which was such a thoughtful and meaningful touch. It really showed how personal and family-run the business is, and how much pride they take in what they do.
I also really appreciated how they took the time to read the notes I left about what my daughter is interested in. They picked out books that were perfectly suited to her age and matched exactly what she’s into, which made the whole experience feel so personalised and considerate.
I honestly can’t wait to recieve my next order next month — I’ll definitely be recommending this subscription to my friends and family!

Absolutely love this idea! My little boy loves books and we read so many on a daily basis. It’s so lovely to know books are being recycled and bringing so much joy to children time and time again. My little boy loved receiving his first box, the books were in great condition and we have read them multiple times since receiving them yesterday. We can’t wait for next months box!

What a fantastic concept this is! I was originally subscribed to a different book subscription service but switched to the Second Life Library the instant I found out about it. Not only is it half the price of other services, but it’s focused on preventing books from ending up in landfill; this is what really drew me in. I collect books for my children as I want them to become passionate readers but this service also teaches them that new isn’t always needed or better.
The books I received were in excellent condition and were carefully chosen for my children’s age group. They were packaged beautifully with stickers and a reading tracker/bookmark too, along with a handwritten note. The service feels so personal and my little ones were ecstatic to see their new books. My toddler refused to go to bed until we’d read every single one! We’re looking forward to next month for our next set of books already. Thank you so much!

Such a brilliant idea and such a great small business. I just received my first order; I ordered the 0-6 month books. We got such a beautiful selection, they are all great quality and perfect for my 3 month old.

Absolutely lovely concept! Ordered as soon as I saw about it. Books arrived, all preloved but in fantastic condition and perfectly suitable for my 15 month old. Tailored to his interests too. Already excited for our next set of books. Highly recommend this service and can't wait to see what we get next time!

I found this small business as they were starting out and immediately loved the concept. My favourite activity with my daughter is reading stories and I believe every child should have access to the joy of books and have the ability to read. We also try to source our books second hand where we can so the concept of this business is one that really aligns with everything I love and wanted to support!

We placed a subscription order and the books that came were immaculate - Something that is very difficult to find when buying pre loved books! Along with the books was a lovely handwritten note and a sheet of stickers (which were a big hit with my daughter).

Shipping was super quick too so we didn’t have to wait long at all to get the books that were chosen for us. The books were all age appropriate, and matched up so well with the things I added to my order that my daughter enjoys!

I have recommended the second life library to my family and friends and can’t wait to get our next box!
