If you are learning Japanese this is a great resource! I've been a customer for years and seen my purchases actually increase in value as their add more content. They are not out for a quick buck, but want customers for life. I cannot recommend them enough for anyone looking to flesh out their learning material, beyond the standard textbooks. Clay being a learned speaker and Yumi being a native speaker, means you get the benefit of a team who knows the tricks and traps in learning Japanese, while still providing authentic conversationally spoken Japanese

It's hard to find good readers in Beginner - Intermediate Japanese that keep you engaged. The Japanshop does a good job of keeping the language easy enough while being entertaining enough to be engaged while reading.

Clay and Yumi are really putting great effort into the monthly zine and also weekly updates, cultural notes, the app and audio books now.
This is exactly what any long term learner needs - regular dose of real Japanese language tied to cultural and historical tidbits. I love it.

Great material for beginners and intermediate students of Japanese. Interesting, fun and brilliantly explained. I have purchased the N5 and N4 courses along with a few books about Japanese culture and history. Highly recommended!

Offers a unique, interesting way to improve your Japanese through materials that are fun and meaningful to read. I started with them maybe 10 years ago and still find the Makoto zine still very useful.

I have bought almost everything from The Japan Shop (their ebook collections that include mp3s and also anki decks for most of them) and more recently I got a lifetime membership that includes their monthly magazine and a lot of other content. Clay and Yumi are constantly creating new content and now there is even an app with most of the content, which makes thing easy to learn on the go. Clay has always been very responsive to any questions I had, so customer service is excellent and fast. I really cannot recommend this site enough.
