This course is informative and the tutors are very helpful and reply very quickly. The customer service is excellent and replies rapidly. The course is in depth and definitely covers a wide span of the industry and provides various resources for learning. I do like learning on my own but it would be even more helpful if more videos were included throughout the course, there are some within certain modules but I do enjoy watching and listening as a portion of my learning. The tutor feedback is very helpful and my tutor Meghan is extraordinary, her feedback and answers to my questions has helped tremendously.

Work on your own and at your own pace.
I like the idea of being able to work at your own pace. I do not like that the tutor is only to grade your work. They don’t check in to see how you are doing with the module or if you need help or additional support.

While our course is designed to encourage independent learning, our tutors are absolutely more than just graders. They are contactable at any time, and we offer 24-hour support — all you need to do is send a message through the student site. Any questions, uncertainties, or requests for extra guidance are welcomed, and our tutors are always happy to help and provide additional support whenever it’s needed.
Because students move through the course at different speeds, tutors don’t always proactively check in, but support is always there and readily available — you’re never on your own unless you choose to be. We also have our student Facebook group available if you wish to connect with other students.

Very well-structured course with practical and useful
I am very happy overall with my experience with The Interior Design Institute. The course is well structured, easy to follow, and provides a lot of useful, practical information that can be applied in real projects. The lessons are clear and well organized, covering both creative and technical aspects of interior design, and the flexibility to study at your own pace is a big advantage.
That said, while most of the course offers very good value, I personally did not find Darren’s module to be fully worth the additional cost, as the content felt less impactful compared to the rest of the program.
Overall, it is a valuable learning experience that offers solid knowledge and confidence for anyone interested in interior design, especially beginners or those looking to strengthen their foundation. I would still recommend the course, with the note that some optional modules may be more subjective in terms of value.

My experience thus far with the Interior Design…
My experience with the Interior Design Institute course through Module 5 has been positive. The course is well-structured, and the transition from theory to application is straightforward and manageable.
The assignments have strengthened my understanding of design principles, particularly in areas like colour, mood, and spatial analysis.
Tutor support from Khamille Tyler has been constructive and supportive throughout the modules. Feedback is clear, balanced, and focused on both strengths and areas for improvement. Feedback that includes specific suggestions for refining ideas, improving layouts, or strengthening presentations is invaluable and easy to apply to subsequent work.
One area for improvement would be to include clearer benchmarks for presentations to reduce uncertainty regarding layout expectations.
Overall, the course has met my expectations and has increased my confidence in applying interior design concepts.

A top-notch Design course with extensive information.
My experience with the IDI course has been very interesting, positively challenging and very informative. For anyone interested in taking on Interior Design as a career or a hobby, this is the course for you. There is a lot to learn and understand in the Design industry and the modules do a great job covering design rules and applications. The assignments are very beneficial for learning to apply all the course material. The workshops are very informative as well as the advanced modules. Even though it is a self-paced course , it is organized in a way that makes everything easy to understand. Great Program!
I have just completed Module 10 so I am in the home stretch. I am a self taught designer - until now. This class has been extremely helpful and I have learned valuable information taking this course. I continue to wish there were video lessons as part of the course and periodic video check-in's with tutors. I am more of a visual learner so I think I would get even more from the program with these options.
