My mother had a two carer rotation on a 6 week/2 week rotation. The 6 week carer was very professional and understanding of mother's dementia and provided good care. We had three other carers on the short rotation one of whom was truly excellent - understanding, professional and able to cope with mother's episodes of extreme confusion. One of the others found it more difficult.
The training and support system from GCG was very good and I would willingly sign up to use them for myself.
Although the care is relatively expensive, the key is that the care given is genuine and of a very high standard. Our mother has had 2 periods of live-in care and all carers have been trustworthy in all respects and helped to keep her safe and as happy as possible under the circumstances. Every thought is given to maintaining choice in all aspects of care and in promoting self worth. The relationships with the family and all other people involved in day to day life have been excellent the carers have been matched carefully.
Passing on responsibility of care is difficult, but the experience of using The Good Care Group has given us plenty of support.
Only used this company once, mum thoroughly enjoyed having the carer to stay for two weeks whilst I was away. Gave me peace of mind not having to micro manage problems from a distance. Would have used them again had the need arisen,
This company stepped in and provided excellent care to my mother when her health deteriorated. I would and have recommended them to others who are looking for a professional and trusted care provider in the community.
Good Care were fantastically good at arranging care in the last weeks of our mother's life. Two carers came for six weeks and the second one could not have been more effective, kinder or more professional. The first was good too but had the unfortunate habit of constantly saying 'God bless you', which was not really appropriate for my mother, who was agnostic.
I have nothing but praise for the reliability and care of the 'carers' who have looked after my mother - they have been first class. the only reason for not giving 5* is that I feel that the Management team should follow up on a visit - t here is support prior to the use of the company and very good communication but as soon as the employee/carer arrives no more communication and this feels a bit 'cheap' not to have a debrief following the stay.
My aunt was looked after for several years by two live-in carers who were with her for two week blocks at a time. She received fantastic care from them and very strong bonds grew between her and her carers. The management team were also good at keeping in touch and reviewing any changes in my aunt's requirements. No hesitation in recommending them.
I cannot praise highly enough the high quality care and overall service that Good Care Group provided for my mother, enabling her to remain at home in line with her own wishes for as long as possible. Both management and carers provided outstanding service, enabling me to feel confident that she was safe, happy and well cared for -- particularly important for me as I live abroad.
My 83-year-old mother fell ill suddenly, and overnight went from independent living to needing full-time care. She found this difficult to accept, and agreed to the idea of a live-in carer very reluctantly because the only alternative was going into a home. Good Care Group took the time to meet with her, discuss her fears, her way of life, likes, dislikes, habits, and match her up with someone who was not only a brilliant carer but also a compatible personality. Within a week my mother was praising her carer to the skies. She particularly appreciated the fact that she had the same carer on a permanent basis so did not have to keep meeting new people.
My mother's condition worsened far more quickly than expected, and suddenly the carer was not just accompanying her to fortnightly appointments for treatment, but managing daily visits from a district nurse, increased physical frailty, emergency hospital visits -- all of which she took in her stride, judging when to call a doctor, when to call an ambulance, and never panicking.
I would recommend Good Care Group to anyone.
I am very impressed with the Good Care Group. My father was taken ill very suddenly and his condition deteriorated quickly. He went from being fit and well, fiercely independent and still working as a writer at the age of 86, to suddenly needing live in care on his return from hospital. He also developed cognitive impairment in addition to his physical problems.
The Good Care Group arranged an assessment quickly and we soon had two wonderful carers, taking turns to work two week shifts. They have coped admirably with my father's changing needs and I feel totally confident that my father is in very good hands. They both feel like part of the family. I have no siblings and live a hundred miles away and, although I visit as often as I can, the support that they offer is priceless. I cannot recommend The Good Care Group highly enough. I am sure that you can pay a lot less for care but but I would say that you get what you pay for. We are also supported by a Care Manager who is available at any time. They made life easier for me at what was a very traumatic time.
Over ten weeks we had 3 carers living in to cover for post operative recovery from major surgery. Two were excellent (we could'nt have asked for better). One was not so good and we asked her to leave early as we really didn't need live in care at that stage.
We had superb back up from head office and they remained in touch at all times. Generally we were very satisfied with the service But it all depends on the quality of the individual carer.
Excellent multi agency working
Excellent carers who demonstrate a very caring perspective and ultimately become part of the family
Great communication skills
The company were extremely helpful & efficient as I needed 24/7 care for several months. Thank you
Carers on the whole excellent but back office not good

Besvarelse fra The Good Care Group
An excellent service and lovely people. My mother is very well looked after by The Good Care Group.
Good care were run very professionally and the care for my mother was good. It was only the cost which made us eventually have to find naother option.
The Good Care Group cared for my late parents. The main carers were very good and if there was any problem, usually it was sorted quickly. Holiday and sickness cover was done efficiently and if there was a problem with a replacement carer, this was sorted by a phone call and if necessary, a new carer being brought in. The carers fitted into our family well!
I would recommend them.
Very good carers who, as I live abroad keep me updated on my mother’s situation.
When she was in hospital they went in every day to see her and to bring her things ; as NHS doctors do not bother to contact the next of kin ( we don’t make phone calls abroad; but even when I was in London with a UK mobile they never bothered.) Hence the carers and I were in touch almost every evening. The service is really five star and although not exactly cheap it is worth every penny.
Expensive, but you get what you pay for. My elderly parents are able to live out their days together in the comfort of their own home. The care is exemplary.
Our carer was excellent and very sensitive to my husband"s needs. Admin support sending out Record Book etc was not as efficient as l had expected. On first contacting the company l could not get a picture of who did what or the process. The carer's manager who did the home assessment was knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with. This was very helpful at a stressful time.
My family used Good Care from 2013 to 2015. Overall they provided wonderful carers who exceptionally professional, kind, patient and resourceful. The admin staff were equally responsive and attentive. I would strongly recommend them. However no organisation is perfect. I would have given five stars except for one carer who had a condition which impeded their work and which they had not declared to the agency. Once the condition was discovered the carer was stood down immediately. These things can happen in any business or service, and I have no doubt Good Care quickly tightened their carer assessment process. In spite of this event I would still strongly recommend Good Care, because of the overall high quality of their work.
