I was skeptical about using the fit out pontoon I was worried it wouldn't be beneficial or worth the money.
I WAS WRONG! mark was amazing he is the ultimate professional and his knowledge is invaluable. he has planned and and designed my 57ft narrow boat start to finsh and listened to everything I wanted and advised with every detail Im so glad I decided to use them its taken all the stress and guessing out if the whole process thank you so much fit out pontoon brilliant work

Working with The Design Pontoon on the complete custom design of my wide-beam canal boat project has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. Mark Speakman brought a rare combination of creativity, technical expertise, and deep practical understanding to the project. I engaged Mark in a design project for my narrowboat. I was so impressed that I also then engaged him for the entire build and fitout. I took delivery of, and launched my narrowboat in June last year and have lived aboard as a continuous cruiser ever since. These last 8 months have been fantastic, I've loved the entire experience. The build quality of the boat is first class. Built from a culture aligned to his ethics and he employs a team that is also aligned. The team who carry out the work are on the top of their game. It’s a company that if I had to have a boat built again, The Fit Out Pontoon would be my first choice. (I researched many prior to asking Mark to build mine).

The extensive library of photographs of my narrowboat Albert Victor are on The Fitout Pontoon website which speaks volumes more that I can write. Did everything go according to plan - no, of course not - its a boat! But solutions were always found and these sometimes actually enhanced the outcome. The compliments I receive wherever I take Albert Victor are a true testament to the skills and professionalism on the Fitout Pontoon and those specialists who work with them.

We had very little experience of boating but some unique and specific requirements for a boat that would form the basis of our business. The Fit Out Pontoon were wonderful, they grasped our vision for the boat the very first time we met. Mark guided us through the practical stuff, but more importantly he, and his team, brought creativity and craftsmanship, they never shied away from a challenge. We always felt they went the extra mile, from that first meeting to delivery and showing us the ropes at the handover.

The finished boat is exceptional and we constantly receive compliments on it. What's more it was built to the budget we'd agreed at the outset.

We should start by saying that before making the decision to have a new boat we had searched the market for what we wanted and looked at boats that we thought may have worked for us only to decided that a new build was the right choice for us.
After that it was then a case of find the right boat builder, a trip to Crick and many conversations with every one there led me to the Fit out pontoon and the start of the process with the boss Mark Speakman.
The first stage was a meeting which was the ground work for everything that followed, all ideas were discussed and investigated and the plan refined until we had something to work with .
Nothing was too much trouble and the design was altered a couple of times to suit the evolving boat.
Because all the fitout was done on site by their own highly skilled staff quality control and attention to detail was never allowed to slip and the end product was a boat that exceeded our expectation and made our dream a reality.
We have now lived on the boat for three months and gone through three storms very comfortable proving that the time spent going over the finest of details has payed off.
If you chose to have a boat built by Mark and his team don't expect it to be done over night," The difficult is done immediately but the impossible takes a little longer.
Five stars is not really enough but that's all there is, we have no hesitation in fully recommending the Fit Out Pontoon to anyone who has an eye for detail and wants the job done right the first time.

Having casually met Mark a few years ago I was impressed that he was a rare character in the world of Narrowboats - he understood about time frames and modern communication .
When it came to getting up my vision onto paper the process was one of consultation and suggestions rather than the “ this is what you want - I know better “ attitude that I had encountered elsewhere - on top of that all drawings were delivered in the timeframe required with a final package for my builder , myself and any sub supplier that was clear and professional

The fit out Pontoon carried out the CAD work for our new boat, which is to be built by Aintree. The final plans are great and they always worked hard to ensure every detail was covered. Well done, we are very grateful.

We'd decided to design and procure our own narrowboat. We met Mark and Adam at the Crick Boat show. They made it clear they would help us with design ideas and draw them out for the boat builders. They would honestly and candidly comment and advise on ideas we had, make suggestions and, most important of all, they tolerated us changing our minds - frequently. Our boat is now being built. I can't speak highly enough of their professionalism and patience in helping us through the design of our dream - suffice it to say, Mark and Adam are top of the list of invitees for the launch party. We wanted to have a boat built to meet our own needs. Having limited boat owning experience to draw on we also needed guidance to make sensible choices and not specify requirements that were later found to be impractical, unnecessarily expensive or incompatible with other choices. We also wanted to capture all the ideas floating around in our heads and see how they looked before committing to the build. Fitout Pontoon helped us with good advice and guidance on what would work and what wouldn’t. They were proactive in suggesting alternatives to achieve the same or similar outcomes that would work. They were very patient with a lot of detail and discussion. The fitoutpontoon were assigned to design my canal boat using CAD. Going through the boat from stern to bow and adding my bespoke requirements an excellent template was created that the boatbuilders are working to.
I’d already studied their website before I knew I would be working them. It is an excellent source of information, to help unravel the choices that are possible.

Our boat builder uses The Fit Out Pontoon for all their final design plans as it is really important to have good plans to work from. Having good plans helps the builder progress you boat ontime and ensures you are getting what you want. The process was very easy as Mark and Adam have so much knowledge and experience. We were able to pretty much put the basic design together in the first visit and then they worked on all the fine details after I had left their studio. I would recommend any one planning to have a boat built to use them as it’s very important to make sure your dream can actually be built and will give you the right space and doors will open and not obstruct windows etc. the results are amazing. The final drawings even go as far as showing what your exterior boat will look like which is really impressive!
