A genuine review and updated review

Edit: I’ve had a request to remove names of the people involved and have agreed to do so- it’s very easy to find the names for yourself if you Google the company under gov.uk. Just make sure this company don’t lie to you - they tried to keep my car and told me I had no right to getting it back when this is not true. I had to fight and work hard to get my car back. (Car group are challenging their negative reviews when it’s actually the positive ones that need checking and challenging) End edit

Bevery careful and savvy if you choose this dealership. Read the one star reviews and you’ll see they all repeat similar themes. The majority of the 5 star reviews are suspicious if you care to look into it. I purchased Nissan Micra - BW18 XOO

4 major issues.
1. The car had faults - according to Halfords the ones they could see was a fan belt that needed replacing, undertray needed screw brackets and one of the tyres was not legal. Halfords don’t check clutch/gears etc but there was an issue there also. Halfords quoted £400 for those 3 jobs.

2. NO communication- they do not reply to emails and when you ring them, they fob you off - the manager Gully, actually told the receptionist to say he was dialling my number and calling me back… I’m still waiting.

3.They use a variety of dishonest, misleading and manipulative tactics. I could write a book on all the inappropriate, insulting and inaccurate information they gave me.

4.The car was advertised as being automatic when it was manual and it also stated it had 2 keys when it had one. They stated they were ordering new key and would post it to me.

Main highlights- I was given false information- I was told I had to give them the car back they had a right to an opportunity to fix it (Northridge - finance company who were actually brilliant stated this is not true and only the case after having car 30-60 days) I was told this by David Rose who also said to ring citizens advice and they would tell me this, they told me the opposite.

They did not want to refund and give me my car back and a more vulnerable person would have been taken advantage of 😢.

Another tactic they use, when asked a question or make a comment is made, they repeatedly reply - who told you that? The number of times they stabbed each other in the back was cringey. David Rose telling me the owners are greedy and there isn’t enough staff and the owner’s brother telling me that half the staff will not be there in a month.

There is so much more I could say - the jist is they do not think highly of each other and certainly don’t care about the customers and safety - their disregard for humans is toxic and saddening in my opinion. If something really terrible does happen they will all have a clear conscious as they blame each other.

The website states the Eddie, Linda, Glynn and Nicole are the team. Actually the names that should show up there are : (this is the bit I’ve been asked to edit)

The paperwork I signed states they do an 82 point vehicle check - for the sake of your safety and all those on the road - don’t make my mistake- actually ask to see it.

The reason I took it to Halfords is because I had taken it on the motorway and heard squeaking and clanking, the car wasn’t happy in 4th gear and it skidded, terrifying me on the motorway. If they had collected the car and fixed it - I would still have the car. Instead I had to chase them. I took the car to them and me and my kids missed 2 days of our holiday (David Rose and Aishar tried to force me to take a courtesy car to Cornwall telling me I had “buyers remorse”).

I’m one of the lucky ones - I got my car back and after 10 days I was refunded - thanks to the finance company putting pressure on them because they completely ignored my emails.

I have reported this company to the FCA, Trading Standards and the Motor Ombudsman. All were really helpful, as was Citizens Advice - know your rights.

While I was there there were others coming over to chat to me with similar issues.

I really hope this review prevents others from going through the ordeal that I went through.

Absolutely shocking

Absolutely shocking. Salesman was trying to tell us whatever he thought we wanted to hear, and promised the world. They had the make and model we wanted, so we bought it, and it's been a disaster. Kept promising drop off the following day, but kept just not showing up. Didn't return calls when they said they would, trying to speak to someone was a nightmare. Car turned up without tax despite the manager saying they'd "sort it" to a drop off with no drive, so would have been illegally on the road from day 1. Arrived with damage they said they'd put right right before delivery. Within a week the car wouldn't start, battery needed replacing according to RAC technician. Noone will answer the phone, noone will respond to emails. I have wasted so much time on them, it is an absolute nightmare. Just relieved that we put some on credit card so have extra protection, looks like we're going to need it.

My daughter was looking for a car and found the perfect one for her.
The whole team went above and beyond to make sure she could drive it away the same day.

Avoid buying!!!

Strong recommend to avoid buying a car from here! When first buying my car from The Car Group I thought it was amazing they appeared so helpful and seemed to go above and beyond to help you. However, my car was bought with a few issues (nothing major that would put me off buying but I did want them repaired) with the promise that they would be sorted as soon as possible. After weeks of hearing nothing we finally attempted to get in touch with Kurtis Dixon who originally sold us the car to no avail. Every time the call went through to him it was hung up and nothing appeared to be getting sorted. Eventually we went in person and told them how disappointed we was that nothing had been fixed and they were very apologetic and promised that they would book us in for the repairs and the parts would be ordered. Booked in a date and when we arrived they had no record of the booking for the repairs nor were the parts ordered. Once again they promised to get this sorted and booked us in again. 3 months later and we’re still struggling to have the basic repairs done on the car and had it not been for us constantly getting in touch with them and going in to the shop I’m certain they would never be fixed. Although the company seem to go above and beyond when you first buy the car the after sales and everything from the purchase is awful. Would definitely avoid buying a car from here and particularly avoid buying one from Kurtis as still he has not attempted to sort the problems and we have had to have other staff help resolve the issues. Only saving grace has be Hussain (who as far as I’m aware works in the sales department) as he seems to be the only one attempting to get the car sorted.

DO NOT BE FOOLED INTO BUYING A VEHICLE FROM THIS COMPANY,after all the time waiting for these to call us back regarding problems with a vehicle I paid cash for last week,to the manager of sorts GULLY telling me on Tuesday morning to look for another vehicle,and that he didn't want to loose my custom,or tell people about the problem from aftersales,he told me to choose a car and that he wouldn't be bothered about loosing money because its all about customer care,he told me to give him 48hours to get the new vehicle in tip top condition I also explained on Tuesday I didn't have any more money to buy a car that was moŕ expensive he again said don't worry,went to collect the car this afternoon only to be told that there was a lot of problems with the vehicle I test drove the car,could fault it,the sales man said he had found us a different car again no communication from the company,was then informed I would need to pay another 1,100 they was already aware that I didn't have any more money,I feel all the people who I met at the bury site need a few weeks on a customer service course especially the so called manager gully absolutely full of lies,doesn't warrant a 1 star,its been 7 days now since we took the vehicle back and still no money 😕,I can't understand how it takes nearly an hour holding on the phone to speak to someone than to be transferred and no body picks up the phone,or replies to emails,my husband has called in on his way to work twice over the last week,they then told him my sort code was wrong and the bank had refused the payment twice,I don't think so,they haven't even bothered to ring me and ask foe the correct details they are dragging there feet with putting my cash back

Buying a car from the car group in Bury…

Buying a car from the car group in Bury was the worst experience I have ever had buying a car.The car is supposed to have a 82 point check that was not done for sure one of the rear tyres was all cut to bits to the back of it.Totally not road worthy.My son took it back to have a bonnet catch fitted a 20 minute job they said 11 hours he’s was there and still didn’t work.Will never go here again and the sales person washed he’s hands of it all to be honest he’s was a clown.

USE THIS BUSINESS WITH CAUTION

Proceed WITH CAUTION if not definitely buying a car… I made an enquiry about a car on the 3rd April, paid a £100 reservation deposit (supposedly refundable) but cancelled it the following day as found a more suitable car closer to home. It is now nearly 2 weeks later but still no refund. I rang & explained the situation to one salesman, he said he would leave a message for the original salesman (Curtis) but no response. I finally spoke to him and he assured me the refund had been made and should be in my account and he also said I would receive an email confirming this - neither materialised.

I have tried emailing The Car Group twice over the last five days but no response and this is despite warning them I would give a scathing review if the situation was not sorted satisfactorily (even a follow up 1 minute phone call/email with an apology would help). I also tried using their online ‘chat’ a couple of times but that was a waste of time, I provided my name, email address & telephone number and it said someone would be in touch - they weren’t. On their website they claim ‘We pride ourselves on our high standard of customer service’ - from my experience of not buying a car, this is RUBBISH and, having run my own business for over twenty years, I am disgusted with the lack of customer care and, more importantly, how they dare not immediately return a refundable deposit.

I am not giving up even if I have to drive to Bury (2 hours away) and cause a BIG scene in their showroom, I WILL get my refund back and it is not to do with money, it is the principle - on a slightly brighter note, I am now dealing with a receptionist called ‘Ella’ who is a lot more pro active and, whilst we were disconnected on the initial phone call, she left a message to call her back to ‘ try and sort the situation out’ - WELL DONE HER, I would give her a pay rise just for this… showing some interest & care and actually responding and following up. I have since spoken to her again and she has asked all the right questions, has been calm & polite and I am confident my deposit will be refunded… as she said, within 3-5 working days. Hopefully. Basic customer care skills but Ella is the BEST of the lot. I await developments…

READ THE REVIEW!


My initial thoughts I was called in to the sales managers office where his tactics are very oppressive. He gave me a list of faults with my car and was trying to pay me less for it, fortunately as a mechanic years gone by they were nothing which I told him. I can see how someone without knowledge would back down to this.
He then told me they were cheapest in the country, they weren't and I showed him other vehicles.
Lastly when they were trying to sell me a warranty he said up to you after 30 days you have nothing. I told him issues will be covered by consumer law to which he replied "they don't have that in Pakistan". Not very professional at all he seemed like more of a bully than a sales manager.

I have emailed the car group aftercare / customer care team 6 times now. The aftercare email on their site gives a timeliness on responses and a confirmation via email. To date I've received nothing but obviously can confirm this was within the initial 30 day period.
Below is my email which pretty much explains my issue.

Good Morning,
I purchased a car from yourselves on the 22/03/24. VW Golf registration GFxxxxxx.

Since leaving with the vehicle I have had no contact at all from Car Group which is quite contradictory from the great after care you allude to on your website.

On leaving I asked where the car service history was and he looked In the book and said there wasn't any. To me having already discussed the vehicle price with the manager a big thing is to mention the fact the vehicle has no service history as this significantly decreases the price of the vehicle and is quite underhand. It should not be left to the customer to assume there is full history and buying from a reputable dealer you would expect this to be discussed. The price I paid for the vehicle is high for a vehicle that has no service history and I certainly feel this is easily to the tune of £500-£1000.

Secondly I was told that I would be emailed the service confirmation which was done prior to me collecting the vehicle but this has still not been received.

These points a long with no follow up call has left me massively disappointed with the service which is such a shame as the initial dealings with curtis were prompt.

The car group have since tried to remove this via trust pilot who have dismissed their claim. Then then requested further details which I provided and agin it was dismissed.

To this day 10/07/24 I have never had any further contact with them to resolve my problems, they ignored all communication.

KIA CEED 2015 Estate

Found this car on Auto Trader, needed a spacious car for my job. Kurtis Dixon sorted me right out, as he is an ex squaddie and I am still serving, we got on very well and he related to me a lot. Gave me a good deal all round and provided me with an overall good service, no dramas at all.
Top bloke and would come here again if I need a car.

Recently purchased a new car through…

Recently purchased a new car through this company. Was looked after by Kurtis and I can not fault him. Great salesman, not pushy at all, gave me so much information that allowed me to make a decision without any pressure. Kurtis kept me informed every step of the way from deposit to the complete of the sale. Sales Manager Gulam was great too! Really friendly company who did everything they said they would and more. They sorted the transfer of my private plate with the dvla, they gave me a fuel voucher and also kept my children occupied whilst in the showroom. Nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend the company. Kurtis and Gulam 100% earned their 5 start rating.
