Generally shittier and no frame sizes

The site has no actual numbers for the frame sizes and even if you contact them, no one replies. I like the lenses and I have bought sunglasses when they just started, and a few since. Now everything is shittier. There's less selection, less ability to mix and match, and customer service seems non-existent.

Insomma…

Non sono nuovo ad acquistare un paio di occhiali da questo brand, e sono sempre rimasto pienamente soddisfatto, fino ad oggi. Gli occhiali che ho acquistato sono: modello WESTON con lente EVERGREEN e montatura GRAY CRISTAL, ho riscontrato fin da subito che le astine non sono ben allineate e di conseguenza l’occhiale risulta essere storto, una volta indossato. Sembra sia venuta meno una certa attenzione ai particolari che forse un tempo c’era. Unica nota positiva sono i tempi di consegna rapidissimi e senza dubbio efficienti.

Could not be happier with the glasses…

Could not be happier with the glasses and especially the customer care offered, BIG shout out to Izzy.
I am a new customer and now the proud owner of both original and spectachrome flavours. Both are unique and having both suits me as I like to make a change when the mood takes. Love them both.

Great service!

Have bought over 10 pairs of these (I lose them regularly) and love them . Can't beat the Originals at sunset. Their customer services rep Rose, has always been kind and helpful at resolving any issues with my orders. Wishing them good luck on their new ventures.

I am on my 5th pair

I am on my 5th pair. My first Classic original lens are still going strong 7 years later, having got involved in the early years. Other designs since have been great but haven’t quite lasted like the classics. Just got 2 new pairs, Bronson with original and evergreen lens. They feel similar quality to the classic so looking forward to using these. I’m a huge advocate of Tens as a company and I love what they stand for.

Dogana a sorpresa, poca trasparenza

Ho avuto una pessima esperienza anche se ero cliente abituale, con due acquisti già alle spalle. Prima di effettuare un terzo ordine, ho scoperto su Trustpilot che, a seguito della Brexit, tutte le spedizioni Tens sono soggette a tassazione extra.

Questo si traduce in un sovrapprezzo del 22% più le onerose spese di gestione doganale. Quindi preparatevi a un 40 euro in più a paio di occhiali (assurdo se ci pensate in %).

Sul loro sito, queste condizioni sono menzionate in modo poco trasparente e non vengono evidenziate durante il processo di checkout. Insomma una bella sorpresina che si scopre solo dopo l'ordine.

Trovo totalmente inaccettabile scoprire solo alla consegna di dover pagare 40 euro extra, specialmente a causa dei ritardi nella liberazione della merce dalla dogana.

La mancanza di considerazione dell'azienda nel non spostare il magazzino in Europa post Brexit, e il loro disinteresse nel chiarire questa situazione ai clienti, evidenzia una totale mancanza di rispetto e di attenzione al cliente. Mi viene da pensare che non abbiano più interesse nel portare avanti il loro business.

I've had an original pair of Tens for a long time and they are still serving me well. I wanted a pair of prescription sunnies and Tens sorted me out at a fantastic price with personalised service. ATTENZIONE ALLE SPESE DOGANALI

Questa recensione non riguarda la qualità dell'occhiale bensì le informazioni che reputo fuorvianti.
Voglio precisare che se spulciamo per bene tutte le info sul sito troviamo anche info riguardo eventuali spese doganali. Trovo però oltremodo scorretto pubblicizzare, in modo molto molto evidente, la politica/garanzia "reso gratuito"molto appetibile considerato che stiamo parlando di un paio di occhiali, e che quindi potrebbero non calzare in modo corretto.
Bene, compriamo l'occhiale, spendiamo 113€ con spedizione e per sbloccare la spedizione ferma a Malpensa ci chiedono 47,27€ che perderemo in caso di reso "gratuito?!".
Ritengo sia alquanto scorretto parlare di reso gratuito ad utenti che stanno effettuando l'acquisto da paesi fuori UK.
Brutta esperienza e brutta sorpresa, se acquistate da Paesi fuori UK sappiate che in caso di reso perderete i soldi della spedizione e quelli della dogana 65/70€.

Under our shipping information and at our checkout on our website, we state that unfortunately for orders outside the UK customers are responsible for any customs charges, duties or taxes imposed in their country.
We understand that customs policies vary widely from country to country, and we cannot predict what these might be. 
If and when customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates. You may be able to claim back the original duties and taxes with your customs office, reach out to them for more info as we do not have control over this.

We do not collect any tax on any orders that leave the UK and have no control over these costs. Other larger businesses may be able to absorb the cost of import duty or have distribution centres outside the UK. Unfortunately, as a small company, this is not an option for us. This is an unfortunate result of Brexit and is quite a painful issue for us. I'm so sorry that you have been on the receiving end of this.

In your Returns Policy we do state that the customer is responsible for these costs. ‘Free Returns’ just means that unlike some companies we do not charge you a fee to return the item.

I hope you can understand this from our side and if there's anything else we can do, please let us know.

We are really disappointed to hear you have had a negative experience and would love to turn that around. I'm so sorry to hear you have had issues with customs. This must be really frustrating and we'd love to be able to avoid this issue.

Under our shipping information on our website, we state that unfortunately for orders outside the UK customers are responsible for any customs charges, duties or taxes imposed in their country. These are generally higher when using a courier such as DHL.
We understand that customs policies vary widely from country to country, and we cannot predict what these might be.
If and when customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.

I can understand that it can be a bit confusing with lots of terminologies! Charges can be broken down into three parts;
- VAT: This charge is collected by the receiving country.
- Import Fees: This is also collected by the receiving country on all goods that enter the country. This can vary between being a flat rate charge for all goods, or calculated on the value of the item.
- Clearance Fees: This a charge collected by the postal service or courier that processes the paperwork involved with imported goods.

We do not collect any tax on any orders that leave the UK and have no control over these costs.

Other larger businesses may be able to absorb the cost of import duty or have distribution centres outside the UK. Unfortunately, as a small company, this is not an option for us.

This is an unfortunate result of Brexit and is quite a painful issue for us. I'm so sorry that you have been on the receiving end of this.

I hope you can understand this from our side and if there's anything else we can do, please let us know.

There is no aftercare for them if you’re hinge goes or arm breaks you will not be able to get new parts would have too get new sunglasses unlike cubbits I have tried to get a response back but I think to see about buying replacements but nothing it’s a shame because I Like sunglasses

I received as a birthday gift tens

I received as a birthday gift tens glasses, bronson model with tropic high lenses. I must say that after a small initial problem .. Tens has made herself available to solve it. the glasses are really very beautiful ... the strong point is the lens .. spectacular color .. relax your eyes in these days of intense sunshine .. I bought two more with different lenses.

I adore my Tens

I absolutely adore Tens. I stumbled upon the brand some years ago in a small Shoreditch boutique and loved how the whole world looks that little bit happier and sunnier wearing my Tens.
They have been my favorite sunglasses ever since & I recently treated myself to a new pair.

Absolutely love these!

I absolutely love mine, I got Tropic High in the Billy gold frame, and my boyfriend got Boulevard in the Larsson frame.

We both love listening to Poolside FM, so when we found out about Tens we jumped right in!
I saw an old review saying that the lenses are weaker than in the pictures, but my Tropic Highs are absolutely fantastic! The filter is exactly as pictured!
Only thing is-the frame is small and metallic gold, so when the sun is straight above it reflects into my eyes and I have to wear a hat or visor.

The Boulevard lense does look fairly weak, but I think it's just better for sunsets or indirect sunlight.

Still absolutely LOVE these though! We've gotten our friends hooked, and we'll definitely be getting more pairs!

Great Glasses, but....

Ever since I saw a pair of these two years ago, I knew I just HAD to have them. I admit I’d fell for their gimmick of the spectachrome lenses seeing as they would be the closest thing I could use to see what it would be like to look at life through the lense of a camera. I love photography and I love Wes Anderson so with these two combos, it was literally the perfect pair for me!

They seemed so cool! But the only problem was that (at the time) I had no money to actually buy the pair. So I had to wait off until I had enough freedom to own a pair. At the time I was a high schooler with a dead end job so I couldn’t blow through money on everything cool that I saw (including these glasses) so I waited.

It wasn’t until I unfortunately found out that after the two years since I’ve seen them. The price of them from having been around $115 went up to around $135 (which is including the free shipping option).

I was honestly pretty disappointed to see that they’ve risen up in prices, but I could understand that due to the pandemic and the state of the global economy that it would’ve only made sense that they would’ve raised the price for them. However, even back before the pandemic. I really wished that they gave out coupons or discount codes from time to time to help with the inflation. Even with the occasional yearly or seasonal 10-15% sale would be okay. I just wish that the customer or even an interested consumer could be given a bit of love for their purchase.

Besides that, I purchased my pair of spectachrome sunglasses a little over a week ago. I spent around (at the time) $135 + free shipping. It took around 8 days from Royal Mail service to deliver my package into the states (I love in the US).

When I got them, I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to try them on. I’ve seen the reviews, the commercial and even their Instagram page to see how they would look in person. Needless to say I was really looking forward to finally owning my first pair from them.

When they got in the mail, I opened up the package and saw they came in a cardboard box. Inside was a black case with orange detailing and a small velvet string bag.

I opened them up and saw my sunglasses for the very first time. And I was so. . . STOKED!

They were so cool!

I ended up getting the Forrest version and I absolutely loved the frames.

But their was one problem.

When I held the sunglasses in hand, I could hear with every movement I made a noticeable squeaky noise. That’s when I found out that the screws on the side of the frames sounded off? They weren’t loose by any means, but they weren’t exactly the sound that any of my glasses that I’ve ever purchased before have ever made.

My only gripe is that it makes the sunglasses seemed cheap and at a rate of over $135 (now currently at $137) I just can’t seem to justify that it was well worth the cost considering how they would be in person. Thats sadly another huge problem. Unless you lived in Scotland, the only way to see how these sunglasses are in person is to buy them and try them yourself to see if you think it’s worth the cost or not.

There are no US retailers that hold these glasses and if they are, none of them are near me for me to find out. Unless you have a friend that has these or if you asked around the internet somewhere. That’s practically the only way to find out if these are worth buying or not as there’s not much talk about these on the internet. There’s not too many videos of these on YouTube, just written reviews that may or may not cover the pros or cons of these glasses.

I can say is that the shades are okay. They didn’t live up to the hype in my head as I’ve noticed they seem to look only better on the sunnier days then they do on rainy or cloudy ones. You can’t notice too much of the spectachrome during those times, but maybe that’s just the area I live in.

If you want my recommendation. If you have the money to buy these and you don’t live anywhere near them. I’d recommend just buying the DHL shipping option which if I can remember was around $14 dollars for 2-3 day shipping, to see if they’re worth having or not. It’s better to get them in quick then to wait about a week to see if you should return or exchange them for another pair.

I do plan to keep my pair since I’ve already paid the price for them. I hope that in the future they could improve their products down the line as I would love to buy some of their other sunglasses maybe down the line if things are better. Hopefully the prices are better and were not down in the hole from a pandemic again.

You're exactly right about our price rise. We were very reluctant to increase our prices, and it was a decision that was not taken lightly.

Over the past 18 months the cost of running our business has grown exponentially; a result of the devastating impact of both Covid-19 and Brexit. We were left with little choice but to reflect an increase in our prices because of this.
We pride ourselves in investing in our product design & development. Our materials that are sourced in Europe, and our lens filters that are unique to Tens. We believe our product and service is genuinely unique while still being priced below the major players in the eyewear industry.

Our frames should not be making any squeaky noises. It's not a fault we have come across before, and is something we will look our for during our quality control. If you feel that the product is faulty, we will of course send out a replacement pair for you.

These sunglasses are awesome!

I actidentally put the wrong shipping adress during te checkout, I texted the custumer service as soon as I figured out my mistake and they send me another pair as soon as the first one started to came back to them. I finally have my tens and I'am really happy to say that they are amazing!

I’m an original backer... did they tweak the formula?

I’m an original backer of the first wave of Tens that came out years ago. I wore them until they broke. I loved them so much! It took me some time to get replacements but I finally did. Stoked to try out the new filters and frames I chose Boulevard and Tropic High.

To great dissatisfaction these filters felt extraordinarily WEAK compared to the first wave of originals. My only thought is that Tens tweaked the opacity to the point that they do not filter the world as advertised. Sure there is some color change, but nothing close to what I had experienced for years. It wasn’t until I put both pairs on at the same time did I experience that nostalgic feeling of the First pair of Tens! I know it sound funny, but that’s when the experience happened for me.

Maybe these were both lemons (poorly tinted)?
Maybe these filters are can’t compare to the Original’s ability?

Unfortunately I can’t recommend these to anyone at this point. I hope to replace them soon and find a better experience. If not... :( well I hope they tweak their formula to increase the saturation of the tint.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're not 100% happy with our Boulevard and Tropic High lens. We appreciate that all our lens experiences are different and are suited to different people. We find the colours really come alive in different lighting conditions which of course can vary throughout different climates across the globe.

Our Original lens is a Category 3 lens, where Boulevard and Tropic High are Category 2 which is where some of the difference lies as well as the colour tints.
Category 3 lenses have a darker tint than Category 2.

We would be more than happy to exchange these for a different style or a refund. I've sent you an email to get this sorted out, please let us know if you don't receive anything - sometimes they can get filtered in to junk/spam folders!
