In the last 12 months (particularly during 2022) we encountered issues around the clarity of communication concerning customs fees for international shipments. Some local tax authorities necessitate customs and duties payments (VAT) to import products into their respective countries. As an importer, you can either pay directly to the tax authority, pay to the delivery company (and they'll pay the tax authority), or pay us during the checkout process (and we'll pay the tax authority). Regardless, customs fees are an inevitable part of the process. Despite our attempts to clearly communicate this on our shipping page and cart, it appears this hasn't been as clear as we'd hoped, leading to discomfort among many. For this, I sincerely apologise.
What matters now is how we are working on this issue. We are actively finding ways to ensure that the customs fees don't spring up as unwelcome surprises.
Furthermore, we've revitalized our customer service department. We have dedicated and passionate customer service team who work full-time (around the clock) to ensure every query is answered, with an impressive goal of replying to all tickets within an hour. In fact, most tickets are currently answered within just five minutes.
We have just finished setting up a new warehouse in UK, to put us closer to our customers and make it easier to provide excellent service, with fast shipping and simplified exchanges. And we are working on our next location in Canada

I have had an amazing experience
I have had an amazing experience. The color matching did not work out for me. I contacted the support and they helped me out and that super fast. I returned the halo for free. Cost for shipping was covered. The exchanged the halo and I love it. I don't notice it at all. I love the hair as well. It is super soft. I have had synthetic hair before and I know how it feels. It is a world of a difference.
It is true though that you need to factor in custom's fees. They might vary. For me in Germany it was 40 euros. Just to consider. But if you contact customer service beforehand they might offer you a deal and then it doesn't hit you too hard.

Disgusting and misleading service.
I paid a lot for my halo to wait for it over a month, after messaging customer service back and forth I received tracking number to find out my package is being held at customs due to charges amounting to almost £40 - and I'm responsible to paying them as they take no responsibility for additional fees. 'FREE SHIPPING TO UK'?! Absolute joke. I just feel ripped off. Avoid at all costs.
Edit: to customer service rep, your apologies don't change a thing. You've got plenty bad reviews about unexpected customs charge, yet keep misleading people and there is absolutely no information about it on your website.
You do not inform about REAL shipping time and should handle customs charge, Clearly you aren't a legit business but just scammers.

I also understand your frustration about the unexpected customs charge. While we offer free shipping to the UK, customs and duties are charged by local tax authorities, over which we have no control. It's a tax which is paid by the importer (you). We try to be clear about this on our website but will work on making it even clearer.
Customs fees vary by country and can be collected during checkout, through the delivery carrier, or directly by tax authorities. It's important to note that these fees are owed to the local tax authorities, and we don't benefit from them.
I truly apologise for the surprise customs fee and the delay in delivery.
UPDATE: Thanks Justyna for your update. But just to make sure things are clear; we do have notes on our shipping page, in our cart and on our product page about shipping estimates and customs fees. You are welcome to verify this for yourself. We have these in place to try to make sure that our customers are well informed. Of course, what's become obvious is that we need to make this even clearer, and I apologise for that.
I'm sorry that we have delivered a negative experience for you. I can assure you that we're working hard to improve in every area of our business to avoid these types of situations, and we take every bit of feedback very seriously.
Misleading customers
I was charged a steep customs duty fee, despite the website advertising EU shipping and claiming free EU shipping. While I am very careful to not order internationally to avoid extra fees, I do order from companies that have established EU shipments, and I have never before been charged customs fee from other US companies that include free EU shipping.
I took pictures of the package and receipt, and let the company know immediately, thinking the issue would be resolved as I was clearly misled. I was simply told I won't be refunded as it is not in their control.
In their website my negative review does not show. I guess they do not approve reviews of all the bad experiences there.

Wish I hadn't bothered. Match was ok but the hair does look fake. I've much better real hair clip on extensions which I still use over these.
I've used the halo extensions once only and they felt like they were not secure. Quite heavy. Hard to hide if have fine hair. Couldn't relax. Dont know how anyone is managing to wear this down without problems. Gutted as I really wanted this to be good.

Just to clarify, our halos are made with 100% ProGrade Remy Human Hair - which means it's as real as hair gets. However, it's been industrially straightened and treated with silicon to give it that sleek, straight look right out of the box. This can make it seem a bit different than your natural hair at first. A good trick is to give it a little spritz with water to help it regain some natural curvature and blend better with your own locks. Cutting it a bit shorter helps too, by emphasising it's natural volume.

I wouldn’t waste your time or money ordering from this company I am still waiting over a month for my package!!! Customer service is rude and unhelpful!!! They are sneaky in their pricing also in their term and conditions it states if you get a product at discounted rate it is in refundable 😂 so they discount them. Sometimes, third-party shipping companies can slow down, especially around busy sales periods from September to December, but this is still an unusually long wait. I tried to look up your order using your name, but I couldn't find it in our system. If you could get in touch with some more details, I'd be happy to investigate this further for you.
I'm also pretty upset to hear that you found our customer service to be less than stellar. We pride ourselves on being helpful and friendly, and we generally have a very high Customer Satisfaction Rating, so it's disheartening to hear that you've had a negative experience. Again, I tried to look up any conversations we might have had with you, but without success. If you could give me some more information, I'd love to look into this.
As for our pricing and terms, we do have a policy that items bought on sale are final sale (no returns). This doesn't apply to all discounts, just the bigger sales. I'm sorry if this wasn't clear when you made your purchase - we always aim to be as transparent as possible with our customers.

Color good, Texture not so good, Itchy
The color they recommended for me was a good match. Unfortunately the texture of the halo hair is nothing like mine. My hair is fine, sleek, and shiny. The halo hair is rather stiff and coarse, especially at the ends. If I wear it I have to style my hair in either a messy bun or a low pony, because it just does not blend with my own hair, due to the texture difference.
Oh, and the halo is itchy. Itchy at the sides where the wire attaches and itchy all along the weft. I can only stand to wear it for a few hours. Then the itching gets to be too annoying and I have to take it off.

Waste of money
These halo extensions are not cheap, especially with the customs fee on top (which should be made clearer at check-out!). The hair itself was a poor colour match - the colour and feel both remind me barbie hair, perhaps if you have brown hair they look more natural! I also tried various sizes of the halo wire and it does not sit snug at all, I would be way too nervous to wear outside if it was remotely windy. The weft also leaves a visible bump at the back of the head , I think this may be hidden better if my hair was thicker but I only purchased these as they were marketed as a solution for thin hair. Will definitely stick to my usual clip-ins from now on, I’m not sure I could wear these for anything other than a quick photo and then remove them! Feel completely ripped off!

This company should be Checked out. I ordered beginning Oct. The customer service is very convincing but I'm sure its only one person probably doing this from home. It took days to be shipped and then I was slapped with a customs bill of £42.51.Expect to wait weeks to get it. Don't waste your hard earned cash. As for the product it's of very poor quality and I've been totally ripped off. If anyone out there can check this company out then please do for the sake of future people being taken for a ride by them. We all deserve our customs and sale of product refunded. I wish I’d read these reviews before purchasing. I ordered hair extensions on the 4th October as I needed them for an event on the 19th. I thought a 15-day lead time would be ample, considering their website says they ‘usually dispatch within 3 hours of an order being placed’. 7 days in I had heard nothing from them regarding my actual order, but received a slew of email marketing campaigns instead (sometimes two emails a day!). I had to email them to enquire about the status of my order, and they told me that it would be dispatched in the next 24-48 hours. A joke considering this was already waiting over a week. 48 hours passed and I still hadn’t heard anything, so I asked them to cancel my order and process a refund. I feel like my time has been totally wasted. They are lying on their website when they say dispatch takes up to 3 days. They told me on the email it was 3-5 business days. The reality is it’ll be way longer. Why lie?

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience with us. It sounds like it was a frustrating situation, and I absolutely understand why you're upset. You were looking forward to your extensions and we didn't deliver as you expected us to, and for that, I apologize.
I want to clarify a couple of things. On our site, we mention that it may take up to three business days to dispatch orders. While a vast majority, around 99%, of our orders are shipped out within one day, sometimes, especially during high sales periods, our third-party warehouses can get overloaded and it may take a bit longer.
Moreover, your order came at a time when we were recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, which had a significant impact on our Florida warehouse. It took us a week to get back up and running and about two more weeks to get back to full capacity. We did put a warning on our site, but it seems you might have missed it. I understand how this could have led to miscommunication and discrepancies regarding shipping times. For that, I sincerely apologize. We were caught off guard by this catastrophe and it was a situation we'd never faced before. We are better prepared now and will do a better job next time.
Also, I want to acknowledge that we dropped the ball when we said we'd get back to you within 48 hours and didn't. That's not how we want to do things, and I apologize for that as well.
We've since made some big changes in our customer service department. In January, we brought in an experienced manager to improve our processes and performance. We've implemented new policies and protocols, and I'm proud of the positive feedback we've been receiving from our customers since then.
As to your question of "why lie?", it really wasn't our intention to mislead or deceive. We were caught off-guard by an unforeseen situation and we didn't handle it as well as we should have. I hope you can see that we've learned from this and are committed to improving.
Once again, I'm truly sorry for your experience. We value our customers and we're always looking to do better.
Don't use this company - waste of money
This company shouts all over social media about how great they are but my experience was woeful! It took ages to ship and then it was held in some depot in the USA and then returned to sender - no apology from the company and I had to chase to find out where it was - all in all took one month to arrive once they dispatched another one to me and then this morning I was hit with £54 worth of fedex customs fees - to be honest the product is a lot more expensive than other companies advertising these halos and their customer service is awful and then just to top it off you have to pay the customs fees so all in all over £244 for a lot of hassle - plus the colour was very brassy and quite frankly to send it back and try and get a refund would not doubt take years!

Wrong colour sent
Wrong colour sent, told to post it back at my own expense even though the colour they sent was ginger and white and i have brown hair, avoid.
Update: Two years after my review and endless emails, Sitting Pretty reply and reassure me about the quality of their customer service and let me know they will now be willing to cover the cost of returning the item which has long been disposed of as it was useless to me.
Does you customer service extend to sending what I should have been sent originally - extensions which match my hair?

To clarify, if there was a mistake on our part, we will absolutely cover the cost of the return. I'm really sorry if this wasn't communicated properly to you before. It's completely fair that you shouldn't have to foot the bill for our mistake.
This isn't typical of our service and I apologize sincerely that it's been your experience. We're going to look into what might have gone wrong and ensure it doesn't happen again. Please get in touch with our customer service team and we'll arrange a prepaid return for you, and make sure you get the correct colour sent out to you as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Yes, that's correct, we want to make this right for you, it would be great if you could please contact our CS team to resolve this. Also to clarify, I think the delay was 6 months, not 2 years. It's still too long and I'm very sorry for that delay. TrustPilot is not historically a platform we have used for reviews and it has only just now come to our attention.
Do not buy from overseas
I agree with the other reviews about not ordering from overseas I ordered a month ago and have been informed by An Post (Irish postal service) that the package has not cleared customs. This is due to the customs declaration made by Sitting Pretty being insufficient/invalid so they had to return the package.
If you ship overseas you should make sure that you complete customs information correctly! Many other companies manage this.

Pleasantly surprised
I first tried their colour match option but I wasn’t convinced by the colour they suggested and ended up trusting my gut and picked the colour myself (one shade lighter than they suggested) and it blends perfectly with my natural hair. I was really nervous about it but I’m glad I gave it a shot. I only got the thin halo (supposed to be only for adding volume not length) but I will order a medium one now that I’ve seen the quality. Really easy to put on too, even at the first try! I’m happy I tried. I have had no interaction with customer service though so I can’t comment on that.

The colour match provided was perfect…
The colour match provided was perfect for my hair. I even submitted two different lots of pictures and it came back the same. When I am wearing them, they match my hair incredibly well. My hairdresser has cut the halo to the same length as my hair as my hair is just below shoulder length. I really wanted them for volume rather than length and it's been perfect for that. I wouldn't have been confident cutting them myself so would recommend using your own hairdressers for this. Delivery took a while to the UK but arrived fine and I have overall been pleased.

What a waste of money
Was thinking about hair extensions for months and finally jumped the line and bought some - bad idea. While they feel amazing and style well, I cannot get these to match and blend with my hair. I took it to my usual hairdressers and got them to match my natural hair to the extensions, and even got them to give me layers so it would blend easier - they even cut the extensions so they would blend easier. And yet, they stick out like a sore thumb. I feel cheated out of my money as I am unable to return as I have styled the product. What a waste of money.
If you are thinking about buying these DON'T.

One thing I'd like to mention is that our halo hair extensions have been industrially straightened and treated with silicon to make them sleek and shiny. This sometimes means they might not look 100% natural straight out of the pack. But here's a quick tip: try wetting them a little bit then air or blow dry them. This usually helps them regain their natural curves and texture, which could make them blend better with your hair.
That said, if you've already tried that and they're still not blending well, I encourage you to get in touch with our customer care team. I know this has been a frustrating experience for you and I really want us to find a way to make it right. Please reach out to us, and we can work on finding a solution together.
