Fair pricing and solid service so far. Aaron and his team have been wonderful to work with and more than accommodating. They have made it as simple as possible for me to migrate away from my "big box" cloud provider and regain control of my costs and infrastructure. I'm using a combination of services from budget VPS to bare metal depending on what my needs are. It's great to have the flexibility to choose the right solution.

Shift runs an exceptionally well thought out network, particularly from a peering perspective. Lots of extremely useful BGP communities and a great mix of connectivity.

As an example: they connect to Cogent, but don't use them for transit (unless you want them to). If you know, you know!

Super reasonable pricing and responsive support that feels like talking to a trusted colleague. Checks all my boxes for a trusted vendor.

Shift has been great to work with. We originally signed up for IP transit to supplement our ingress blend with their transit, primarily for DDoS mitigation, since Shift makes GSL available. However, we now push around 90% of our egress traffic across their network as well. The number of Tier 1 carriers available makes them hard to beat for the price. Their team is extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with, and we look forward to working with them for years to come.

Aaron and his team went above and beyond to help us out on a Saturday afternoon/evening to troubleshoot a new install. They didn't hesitate to pull in extra engineers, were highly knowledgeable and patient in walking us through full remediation. They have creative answers to each problem and were kind enough to really work with us on what is probably a very small account to them. 5 Stars all the way.

Been using their VM and IP Transit for 2 years now, and everything has been reliable. Although I've been a small volume customer, their team treated every tickets and incidents of mine seriously. I would recommend Shift to anyone looking for hosting/transit services in Chicago. If you don't believe me, just give them a try.

I was colocating a server with another provider in Chicago for years. When that company closed down someone from the data center recommended Shift Hosting. They've been great. Aaron drove all the way from Texas to Chicago to personally supervise the transfer and reconfigration of the equipment. Shift's pricing is very competitive as well. I strongly recommend them.

A+++ Company. Have known and worked with Aaron for over a decade. Always knowledgeable and helpful when needed. Always prompt to respond and resolve any issue. We are a 24x7x365 operation so a good network and reliable support are a must.

I had worst welcome at my 1st question to a support "Aaron Ro.."

They have a pathological habit of gaslighting their customers—if the node goes down or the network lags, expect to be told the problem is entirely on your end.
Instead of technical solutions, you get defensive arguments and a total lack of professionalism. It is fine for a $1 disposable playground, but never trust them with a production database or a client project. If you want a host that respects your technical literacy rather than trying to manipulate you, look elsewhere.

It is disappointing, though not surprising, to see the support team label a verified customer's experience as 'false' instead of addressing the issue.

I have clear documentation of Ticket #216046 (dated Sunday, March 29th, 2026 (09:24)), where 'Aaron' responded with immediate defensiveness and dismissiveness to a simple inquiry. My review isn't 'false'; it is a direct reflection of the unprofessional communication style I encountered.

If anyone doubts the validity of this experience, I am more than happy to share the screenshots of the exchange where the 'Operator' was more interested in arguing about RAM prices and 'rock bottom prices' than providing actual support. This gaslighting response only proves my point about the lack of professional integrity at Shift Hosting.

UPDATE (March 31, 2026): > After posting this review, I received a private message in my support ticket from the same operator (Aaron). Instead of professional conflict resolution, I was met with more insults and a direct threat: "we do not take kindly to people like you you will be banned from purchasing anything in the future."

The company is now trying to silence a customer for sharing a negative experience. They claim to be "transparent" in public, but use threats and bans in private tickets. This confirms exactly what I said: they lack professional integrity and resort to gaslighting and intimidation when faced with honest feedback. If you value your business and your rights as a consumer, stay away.

ShiftHosting are a great option for Budget VPS (the service I use). Their sysadmin Zach was super useful with fixing an issue I had and offering suggestions when needed, and Chay was extremely useful and friendly.

Overall their pricing is great, their service is great and their uptime is brilliant as well.

Great pricing and servers, subpar customer support. Their SLA provides the times for responses, and I faced data corruption due to an unknown reason. They say everything is fine on the hardware side, with no offer to help. Slow responses to critical issues, will update with further info when it is resolved.

Was able to get with a tech and unfortunately still have the issue. The response of that it was clientsided was unneeded, as it was possibly based from faulty hardware. Increased rating, as sometimes stuff happens.
Final Update
Did not renew contract, was accused of causing the issue when issues of their hardware were known.

Summary for those who don't want to read it all: A great hosting service, yet unknown to many.

I've been using Shifthosting for over a year now, and I discovered it through a banner ad on BuiltByBit (formerly MCMarket). At first, I was skeptical about the prices for their VMs, as they were much lower than other services. At that time, my company wasn't generating enough revenue to afford higher-end options, so I decided to give them a try.

Before Shifthosting, I used a well-known French host, but my experience was negative—sudden outages, network congestion, and so on. When I switched to Shift, I was initially doubtful about the quality they could offer at such a low price. However, they pleasantly surprised me: the quality was much better for a lower cost. Since then, my services haven't experienced any downtime or network issues.

Their support team is also excellent, always attentive and focused on customer satisfaction. Honestly, Shifthosting deserves more visibility. If it weren't for visiting MCM, I wouldn't have found them.

I purchased a dedicated server from them and it’s been perfect. It’s a really cheap price for what you get, it has perfect performance and no flaws. The only thing I’d wish for is more eastern locations, I got an Atlanta dedicated server and a New York location would be helpful. But that certainly doesn’t mean anything, this service and company has been flawless
