£494.40 to install a £30 Vailant F75 sensor
To supply and install new Vailant F75 sensor was £356.40
They cost less than £30 to buy according to a quick search.
Serviceteam has an initial callout of £115 + vat (£138) where they diagnose the issue. They then order the parts and come back for another visit.
EDIT: They replied that "A less honest approach would have been to replace the pump regardless. We didn’t do that." Should I thank you for not not taking that criminal approach? Given what you did do: NO
Perhaps you should have corrected me when I said that the cost was £356.40 when in fact you had taken £494.40 from my account. Apparently your invoice was just for the second visit of 40 minutes and did not include the £138 for the initial 20 minute visit.
You based the £356.40 for the second visit on the fact that you may have needed to replace the pump (which I do not accept that you tested at all on the first visit). But even so, that is like going to a mechanic and him saying that he will have to replace a spark plug and if that doesn't work, then replace the engine. If he than says the spark plug fixed it but he will charge me £1500 because maybe he would have had to change the engine

When you contacted us, you agreed to our standard diagnostic visit. This covers up to the first hour on site and guarantees a correct diagnosis. That is exactly what was provided.
On the first visit, our engineer identified a failed Vaillant F75 sensor and also advised that the pump might be faulty, but could not be fully tested until the sensor was replaced. This was explained at the time.
You were then issued a fixed-price quote for the proposed works and chose to proceed.
On the return visit, the F75 sensor was replaced and the system fully tested. Once confirmed that the pump was not required, we did not carry out unnecessary work and reduced the final invoice accordingly. A less honest approach would have been to replace the pump regardless. We didn’t do that.
Regarding pricing, the charge is not just for the part.
It includes fault diagnosis, qualified labour, travel and van costs, insurance, compliance, office support, system testing, and a warranty on workmanship. Online part prices do not reflect the full cost of supplying and installing components safely and professionally.
While we always aim for a first-time fix, it is not realistic or industry standard for engineers to carry every specialist part. Where parts are required, a return visit can be necessary. This is explained upfront, and all work is quoted and authorised in advance.
We’re confident the work was carried out correctly, transparently, and in the customer’s best interests.

I needed a basin tap replaced
I needed a basin tap replaced. I like that Serviceteam use Whatsapp so that photos of job can be sent. They responded immediately and quote sent very quickly. All done within 30 mins.
David came today (1st Dec 2025) to do the job. The parts for the replacement tap weren't the same size, so he had to go to DIY store. This, together with removing and installing new tap all done within the hour. Very impressed. And he took old tap away for recycling.

Don't use them ever
This is a money making racket. They are very prompt in booking the service but the trades people are dishonest.
They spent 1 1/2 hr on the job and claimed 4 1/2 hrs. Completed 1 of the 2 jobs and charged for both.
The job they completed had an issue and they came and fixed it but charged me again under the pretext that the valve installed was faulty, not the original work they did. This is untrue because if the valve is faulty, the leak from the radiator will continue.....which it is not.
Now I have to deal with the serviceteam complaints team and then with the credit card they charged to get justice. A huge hassle that I could have done without.
In response to your response - you did not address the original issue of the job card where the engineer said over 4 hours was spent on the job. This implies he did both the jobs which was not the case. Only the TRV work was done. Please read the email from the engineer about the second job where he says this was only a cursory look and was done as a goodwill gesture. You still charged me for the job which you should not have.

1. Time on site/charges
Our records show 1 hour 43 minutes for the initial visit and 22 minutes for the follow-up. Both visits were quoted and charged as fixed-price jobs — not pay-by-time — and the amounts invoiced match the agreed quotes. We have no record of any 4.5-hour charge or anything billed on that basis.
2. Work completed
We completed the work you booked. The only issue that later developed was a leak coming from inside the customer-supplied radiator valve. All installation joints and pipework were bone-dry when we returned. The leak was from the internal spindle section of the valve itself.
3. Source of the fault (important for readers)
The valve comes as a factory-assembled sealed unit. The leak was coming from inside that sealed mechanism, not from anything we connected. To get it leak-free, the engineer had to dismantle the internal section, clean it and re-seat the internal seal. That is not a normal step when fitting a new valve; it indicates a defect with the product. We have photos and video from the visit showing this clearly.
4. Why did the leak stop after our visit
A worn or mis-seated internal seal can leak intermittently. The fact that the leak stopped only after stripping and re-seating the internals confirms it was a valve defect, not an installation issue.
5. Return-visit terms
Before the revisit, you accepted our written recall terms, which explain that a free return applies only if the issue is caused by our workmanship or by materials we supplied. As the issue was with a customer-supplied valve, outside our control, the visit is chargeable under those agreed terms.
We’re always open to resolving concerns directly, and our complaints team is available if you’d like to continue the conversation. But it’s important that the facts are presented accurately for anyone reading this review.
