Such a disappointing online Xmas ordering experience.
Placed an order for a Xmas hamper delivery to our family in the Republic of Ireland on 25th November. Specifically chose a hamper that could be delivered outside of the UK and to ROI. It was due to be delivered on Friday 19th December so perfect timing.
Received an email on Thursday 18th December to let me know my Xmas order had been cancelled and I would be getting a refund. Definitely not enough time to rearrange anything else in time for Xmas.
As a business if you can't fulfil a Xmas delivery service don't do it! I'll stick with Fortnum and Mason, M&S or Amazon next time.

Awful customer service. No understanding of stock.
I searched online to purchase my daughter a Ralph Lauren jacket for Christmas which is sold out in most shops. I found one left on Selfridges site and one left on another less reputable site. Despite, the other site selling the jacket with 20% off, I decided to purchase via Selfridges believing it was a more trustworthy option. I was relieved when I found and paid the £500 for the jacket, as this is my daughter’s only request for Christmas. I then got an email a day later saying my order has been cancelled. I would expect a company like Selfridges to have an understanding and confidence in their stock before allowing purchases to be made. I now can’t purchase the other one I originally found at 20% cheaper as their last item has now gone too but least this is advertised on their site. I can’t even look for another now as my transaction is still ‘pending’ 4 days after my purchase was cancelled, therefore the funds aren’t accessible to me to make another large purchase. Sent an email to customer services, no response. Called customer services only to be told that I just need to wait 3-5 days for my money to be available. No apology or understanding at all. Just told to enjoy the rest of my day…great, thanks to Selfridges I have no Christmas present for my daughter or the money to buy one!!!
Customer service non existent, and Selfridges plus a waste of money.
I paid for Selfridges plus last May and have used the service four times. It's been a complete waste of money as the delivery either doesn't show up, or is delayed (rather than the promised next day delivery).
Customer service online, is appalling - have spent days and repeated email requests looking for the simplest of things. Shame on Selfridges.
I am shocked that this so called luxury retailer is satisfied to treat its clientele with such disdain.
Favourite place for shopping
No matter what others say about Selfridges (mostly competitors' fake bad reviews), it is always my favourite place to go to / or for online shopping. So many to choose from with reasonable prices.

I visited Selfridges London recently and was deeply disappointed by how inaccessible and unsupportive the store is for people with disabilities. The entrance doors are extremely heavy, and using them left me in further pain. Staff members nearby did not offer any assistance.
I also urgently needed the toilet, but the staff kept directing me to a different floor even after I explained my disability and the difficulty I was having. The disabled toilet I was sent to has apparently been out of use for years, which is unacceptable for a store of this size and profile.
Selfridges may pride itself on its customer experience, but they fall far short when it comes to supporting disabled visitors. My visit was stressful and uncomfortable, and I hope they take accessibility seriously and improve their facilities and staff training.

What has happened to selfridges customer service? I can normally rely on a really quick dhl delivery to Switzerland in 2-3 days, it’s been 12 days and I’m yet to receive any courier information. I’ve been online with customer services 3 times over this week and they cannot give me any information and keep telling me to wait 48 hours while they investigate with Skynet. I’m now thoroughly fed up having been told the same thing again for the third time that I will have to wait 48-72 hours to probably hear nothing again and that they need to fully investigate. The parcel is clearly lost so give me my refund while you investigate!! I expected better, much better!!

Checked available stock beforehand and then placed an order. Payment taken for £164. Shortly after, an email, sorry your item is out of stock. Quickly checked stock and saw the same item in a different colour. Requested to send the 2nd option instead. Sorry this is out of stock. 3 days later still waiting for a refund. Checked with Selfridges webchat. Agent introduced herself, so not the bot. Asked about my refund. Then sent a canned response saying cannot check as we have technical issues. The point of my review is don't order anything and make a payment, before using some type of contact to check stock. The website is a disgrace.
I asked them to update there stock availability. She responded, yes we will as soon as the new stock arrives!!! She just didn't get it!. Still waiting for my refund! Will never shop here again. Not worth the hassle for something that should be so simple.

BEWARE!! Repeated Failings, Broken Promises, and Distress Caused to My Disabled Child
I have made 15 phone calls this week about a single order that has been repeatedly mishandled by Selfridges. Two separate team leaders, Jack and Eric, made clear promises that have not been honoured. Jack assured me I would receive follow-up emails and guaranteed dispatch by today — neither of which happened. Eric later promised to have my order dispatched today and to waive payment due to Selfridges’ own failings, but this was also not upheld.
Despite everything, I was told the “final response” from Head Office is a £25 voucher (which I’ve been informed cannot be used toward the purchase) and dispatch tomorrow instead of today.
This situation has caused significant distress to my 8-year-old autistic daughter, for whom the item was intended. I have emails, call recordings, and receipts evidencing the repeated failures, and I’ve asked Selfridges to review these calls and forward them to Head Office — something they have also failed to do.
I have now formally escalated this to the Executive Office. It’s deeply disappointing that a retailer of Selfridges’ reputation has allowed such poor communication, broken promises, and disregard for customer wellbeing to continue unchecked.
Sent wrong size with no tag & wouldn't refund in full
Purchased size 34 Sandro dress but received size 36 instead. There was not tag to the dress which made me question if the item was authentic or used. I contacted customer service and was told me I could return. However to my surprise refund was rejected initially and then decided to refund me. However I didn't get the full refund. This was really a scam! Firstly they sent wrong size, secondly no tag to dress. This is BIG RED FLAG! I bought from selfridges many times but now I questioned if the items are genuine and if they sent wrong size, they wouldn't refund in full. This is not fair trade. I have no faith in Selfridges anymore. NEVER BUY FROM SELFRIDGES!

Today my daughter and I were shopping. We bought some products from MAC, Dior, and several other brands, and everyone treated us very kindly — we were happy with our experience.
However, when we went to the women’s section on the lower floor of Louis Vuitton to look at bags and accessories, I was showing my daughter some belts and scarves and asking if she wanted anything. I gently touched one of the belts that was hanging and just looked at the back of it to see if it was reversible — I didn’t even take it off the rack or hold it in my hands.
At that moment, a saleswoman — who seemed to be of Asian (possibly Chinese) appearance — suddenly spoke to me very rudely and told me not to touch it.
I told her that this was not my first time shopping there and that I had always looked at and touched the belts before, and no one had ever spoken to me that way. She then replied, “Yes, that’s right — do you want me to help you now?” I said no, I didn’t need her help, and we left the area feeling upset.
It’s really disappointing to be treated like that, especially as a paying customer. I can only imagine how unpleasant it might be for someone who just wants to look around. This is a touristic place, and the staff should be trained in proper customer service and respectful behavior — not act rudely as that woman did.
By contrast, I often shop at Harrods, where the staff are always extremely polite and welcoming. They always offer me a drink, and, most importantly, I also receive reward points with every purchase. Their professional and respectful service truly makes shopping a pleasant experience — something I expected from Louis Vuitton as well.
I’m truly disappointed and will no longer visit the women’s section (bags, scarves, and belts) on the lower floor. If I need anything, I’ll use online services instead.
Selfridges denying returns seems common practice - BEWARE
I have been after a Cartier “Love” ring for the last 25 years!
My wife kindly surprised me with this for a large wedding anniversary at the end of August.
Cartier didn’t have my size in stock and directed her towards their concession at Selfridges.
She ordered from the Selfridge’s website and paid by PayPal, instead of our American Express as she didn’t want me to see the statement and ruin the surprise.
We opened the package from Selfridge’s together and I tried on the ring. Unfortunately, the ring was too small for me and after less than a minute of trying to get it on my finger, we carefully put it back into the packaging and use the Selfridge’s website to have DHL collect the return.
A week later we still hadn’t heard from Selfridges, so we chased them.
They came back with a rather shocking response…
They said that after rigourous examination the ring was damaged and therefore they would not issue a refund.
This is simply not true. We had the ring out for less than one minute and we did not notice any imperfections with the ring. We certainly did not damage it.
I know it is hard to trust people, but I am a regulated individual and I swear on both of my parents lives (aged 84 and 87!) that we did not mark or scratch that ring in anyway whatsoever.
£2000 is an awful lot of money to us and what was meant to be a surprise gift has ended up badly backfiring.
A simple Google search shocked as further. It showed that this was very common at Selfridges, especially from their Cartier department, which is incredibly alarming for a store such as Selfridges.
Moreover, a simple search shows this is a common issue and has been written about in the national press. Who would have thought it from Selfridges!
They then came back and said it was returned after their 14 day return policy, but it was done on the 13th day!
They can’t keep getting away with this.
Beware Selfridges scam
Beware Selfridges scam! After 4 days of being told they have cancelled my order and my money would be returned their advise is to tell my bank to get the money back!! Today they now admit that the cancellation failed and still tell me to pass details on to my bank. The bank have been very clear and state no cancellations have been made. For a landmark store I am disgusted they clearly know they are taking customers money and knowing they don't have stock not cancelling and reversing payments imminently. I would not purchase online even if they say in-stock as their system is done manually and they don't care if people get their money back. I wish I had read the reviews I have found since as I would never of risked buying from them. It's for sure a scam to hold onto funds for as long as possible!!
