We have been on many Scenic River Cruises which have always been good. However, this year’s river cruise did not come up to usual standard of previous ones.

Scenic staff go out of their way to ensure you have the best holiday possible like providing a bottle of champagne and a cake for my birthday. And when a cycle race hampered the trip to the airport on our last day, Scenic sailed us downstream so we could use a different route.

An amazing trip to the Antarctic

It was our 10th cruise with Scenic so an informed review. I am lactose free, intolerant of red meat and caviar; it has been no problem on previous cruises but on this cruise it was very disappointing. Our Royal suite bathroom had seen better days - shower leaked profusely as door did not close properly and seal needed renewing, greyish rather than white towels, awful overpowering bleach smell after daily service, tops of products grubby.
Twice our early evening canapés were lacking as the person delivering them just smiled and said ‘no lactose free ones’ so two for the other passenger!
Good points are: immaculate, white bedding, on the whole amazing staff, nice trips and clean social and dining areas.
This is a 5 star cruise line but it really fell short this time.

Ultimate luxury and very friendly and diligent staff. Comfortable cabins and a pleasant environment on board.

We received top class service and would certainly go again with Scenic.

The weather,food and trips were superb but the dress sense at dinner is slipping with a few in shorts.

Its our second time with Scenic and it was a good as the first. Excelent staff, food and cabins and breathtaking sights and experiences. Polar Bears, Northern Lights and so much wildlife.

The excellent service, the care taken over gluten free preparation of food, the lovely food ( breakfast buffet options, and salad bars), attention to housekeeping,and wonderful musical events.
Of course the scenery on the Danube , and peaceful movement of the boat, the gentle noise off the water- it goes without saying were glorious

The pre-cruise planning was excellent. The sales team were very helpful and friendly and assisted us in booking a flight to Budapest to commence our Danube cruise and train tickets back to London from Regensburg. Paperwork was all received in good time for us to check over etc. I had had a very stressful time prior to our departure and I was really looking forward to a relaxing and stress-free time aboard. I had to persuade my husband to go as we are sea cruisers really, but I wanted a change, so was hoping against hope that all would go well. Unfortunately the Danube was very low, so we had to change boats to start, but that was no problem at all. The problem was that because of the low water they rushed us through the low water point at Passau to enable the boat to continue the other side for the following week's passengers. This was to their benefit but not ours at all. It resulted in our boat docking in the wrong places and our excursions requiring long and tiring bus trips. Every day there were update announcements of our change of schedule and many passengers were very angry. I was also disappointed that we did so much night sailing and so missed a lot of the scenery enroute which I was looking forward to whilst sitting on our balcony. So it really spoiled our experience. I feel it could have been handled much better. We did visit some really lovely places though, which we enjoyed, when we got there. Having been on many cruises previously, we are used to changes, missed ports etc due to the weather, but we got the impression that Scenic were not too bothered about us as passengers, just as long as the boat got to it's destination to continue on the following week. Other companies had the same problem but just changed boats. On the plus side the crew were very good and I felt so sorry for the Cruise Director and staff who took the brunt of having to deliver bad news to us every day regarding our excursion changes. It was very embarrassing and put a real dampener on our cruise. The cabin was very comfortable, all be it small, but the shower room was excellent in size and amenities. The meals didn't suit my husband really, but he is fussy with his food, so we would have appreciated more choices. Meals were also smaller than we are used to on cruises, but adequate. We met some lovely people on the boat and always had a good evening conversation. Otherwise the evenings were rather flat with very little in the way of entertainment. We were prepared to expect that though. After our initial experience with Scenic we had high hopes, but it could have been so much better. It's a shame our experience was tainted, as I would have liked to do more river cruising in the future.

A superb cruise on the River Douro in Portugal. The Scenic staff and crew were excellent and we could not wish for more. The excursions too were first rate and I will be sailing with Scenic again.

The staff were mainly great and enhanced our river cruise. The food was of a high standard. Excursions were well planned with really good guides.

Great service and food.
Very accommodating. We had an early flight (5:00AM) and arrived at the boat around 7:00AM. We recieved breakfast and the staff was able to get our rooms ready by 9:30.
Excursion choices were great and had ample variety to suit any need.
Highly recommend Scenic!

Our scenic cruise on the Danube was perfect from start to finish. Well designed cabin with loads of storage space, fantastic customer service from our butler and room attendant with cabin cleaned twice a day and minibar restocked daily. Loved our early morning cuppa which revived us each morning. Great food on offer at all mealtimes and wide variety of drinks. Open dining policy a great idea too. Great enrichment programme and both entertainment officers worked so hard to keep us entertained. Concert at Liechtenstein Palace in Vienna was my high point. All in all a 5 star trip.

We were in cabin 103 and there were lots of dead flies in the room when we arrived. We informed reception and they were cleaned up but we're there every day after that. We reported this to reception several times and nothing was done. I would have thought we could have been given another room or some compensation.

Great holiday, wonderful food, helpful staff, wonderful free outings.

We have now sailed twice with Scenic on river cruises, both times we have not got to where we were supposed to be.
On this cruise, we started from Bordeaux, in fact we spent half of the"cruise" moored up in Bordeaux! I suppose that my wife and I were fortunate, we were on the side of the ship facing the river. Those unfortunate people on the other side saw nothing but the embankment wall!
Whilst the ship was lovely and the crew friendly, when you sign up for a cruise, that's what you expect to get! If we had wanted a coach tour, we would have booked one, much cheaper!
