This company has always produce great products. I had slide photos of my family done years ago and most recently, had them transfer old VHS videos into digital movies (I had another company do this years ago and turned out pretty awful). This time the digital downloads are so good my children and grandchildren had great fun watching them last night. Communication has also been good. Thank you ScanCafe.

The complete process was extremely easy to do, from beginning to end. Being able to look at the pictures after they were scanned, and deleting the ones that I did not want, was great. I could not believe the quality of the scanned slides since they were very old. I only wish that I would have done it sooner so my parents could have seen them again.

I sent 10 VHS-C tapes and 1 VHS tape to digitize. Each one had "video calibration" text on the screen. They redid the videos and still couldn't get rid of the video calibration text.

I recommend this company based on my experience. It is so nice to have all the slides that my parents had left in one place that makes them easy viewing. I saw pictures that I never knew existed. So many beautiful memories saved. It is worth every penny to save these pictures. Easy, safe, secure, affordable. They do a fantastic job!

I have literally used scan cafe several hundred times. Unfortunately, they are not as good today as the company that I first began to work with. Their greatest attribute was customer service. Sadly, that too has gone south.

My order was shipped to the wrong address. I was traveling when I found out and it took hours to track the package down. The staff was responsive, but it was still a nightmare. I paid for high resolution scans and the results are disappointing. Also the scanner was not clean, so I had the same blotch that showed up on several of my photos.

Deceptive practice of subscribing users to monthly storage fees of $14.99. I reiterate the complaint from another reviewer on Sept 16, 2025.
"I chose Heritage for what I assumed was now the hosting of my photos for download. I am now being charged $14.99 a month for a Cloud Service that I have no need for! Classic misrepresentation and misleading."
When I complained to ScanCafe, they agreed to cancel my subscription but refused to refund the changes.

Scan Cafe is now a scam! I used it in the past and after paying for the conversion, simply downloaded my photos that had been converted to .jpgs that were available at Scan Cafe..
This time I again sent slides and had them converted. I paid the charge for the conversion. When I sought to download them, there were a confusing number of options including getting the jps on a flash drive or a hard drive (both of which you had to pay for)or from a partner company , Heritage. What Scan Cafe doesn't tell you is that you can only download them through Heritage. But they don't tell you that in doing so you are signing up for a monthly cloud subscription of $14.99.
I chose Heritage for what I assumed was now the hosting of my photos for download. I am now being charged $14.99 a month for a Cloud Service that I have no need for! Classic misrepresentation and misleading.
Also offering Heritage sucks you into this company for getting you to buy access to ancestry information and DNA testing.

So let's start by stating the obvious: This takes time. If you send a giant box of photos, VHS, and cassette tapes it is going to take a long time to get your files and returned packages. And if you are storing a significant amount of stuff, you will have to pay for a cloud storage option. I was able to download my pictures before purchasing cloud storage, but not my videos and audio.
These challenges were far exceeded by the excellent customer service I received. I had to change my return address on file during the process, which was handled smoothly. I accidentally purchased the wrong cloud storage option, which they were able to resolve on their end so that I could access my videos. The quality of what I received was excellent, and the communication was great throughout.

We used Scancafe for slides with minimal enhancement. The 1st results were so bad they had to rescan. Then even when they rescanned the slides at what they said is 3000 DPI, are still blown out, off color incorrect colors and just bad overall. We know what a good scan is. Very disappointed in the lack of attention to getting an order right the first time. The admin person did try her best, but they are completely unusable. If you have some old photos you may be ok with the results but I would never use this company for slides.

I had 190 photos scanned, some over 100 years old, some contemporary. Companies made many promises, none of which were kept. Here is a limited list of issues:
1. Some scans have fingerprints on them.
2. Resolution is far lower than promised.
3. There is not even rudimentary color correction of older color pictures (which was promised), digital color are worse than originals.
4. I had scanned some pictures with my simple desktop HP multifunction printer/scanner. They were far superior.
This company is basically a scam. I tested them with 190 older and newer pictures as I have thousands to be scanned and, in some cases, restored. Obviously, this company will never get my business. The fact that they are agonizingly slow does not make the situation better.

Disingenuous company; poor customer service. I had a large number of VHS scanned. When I found out that one of the VHS had been only partially converted (14 mins. of a 1-hour-plus home movie), the company refused to re-scan the VHS because I alerted them to the problem 6 months after the order had been placed. They offered me a 30% discount to re-scan the VHS that they had not correctly scanned. If a company makes a mistake, it should be responsible for fixing the problem.

Very misleading as far as schedule. It took about three months to scan a relatively small set of slides. Every time I contacted them they said it would take another two weeks. Hearing nothing in two weeks, I contact them again, and they say another two weeks. This happened over and over again. I don't feel they were honest with me, either when ordering or giving updates.

I have sent in three sets of slides to ScanCafe. The first was excellent turnaround and quality of digitized photos. The second grouping was fraught with poor, slow service, requiring multiple requests to fix the scans since many were backwards, dirty, and generally unacceptable. I completed the final payment in 2024 and still have not received my slides. When I contacted them last month, the slides are "lost"!! In the meantime I have sent in my last group of slides and now have my fingers crossed that I will receive them back and have acceptable scans. no offer of discount, etc due to the loss of my slides!
