Wanted to share my experience of Ruka Hair and my purchase of the Think Kink Ponytail.

Okay pros:
The delivery was super super quick - very impressed. I ordered on Friday afternoon and it arrived Monday morning.

The hair is a great match for type 4 hair. I have 4C hair and it’s perfect.

The hair is great quality, so lusciously soft, the curls are BEAUTIFUL and I can tell it’s going to last me a really long time.

It washes really well and hardly sheds.

I also love that it’s a UK black owned hair brand. We really need more of these.

Cons:
The smell was horrific. I’m quite sensitive to smells, and thought for the price of the hair it wouldn’t have that horrible, chemical, factory smell. Unfortunately it did. It was so bad I was contemplating to send it back. But I had accidentally ripped the tag off, so decided to keep.
I’ve given it 3 shampoos and a deep condition, but it still has a lingering smell which I’m praying goes after time.

This isn’t that bad, but I thought the packaging could have been a little more elevated. It came in a crumpled white bag and it felt a tad cheap. I was expecting more as I know they’re stocked in Selfridges and of course their online branding is top tier. I’m aware they’re still in their infancy as a company, so I’m sure this will improve over time.

Apart from the cons, I would highly recommend Ruka Hair. If you’re after something that blends well with 4C hair, the Think Kink Ponytail is the one! ☺️

I was really reluctant to write this review as I wanted to like Ruka hair as a black business aswell as being stocked in Selfridges! The packaging was below average and the hair bundles when I first recieved them felt silky but really thin. It’s almost like dolly hair. I was soo disappointed, I’m not convinced this is human hair as by the second and third day it was just matted and tangled. I’ve tried all my good products on it . Not even olaplex can save these bundles . Such a waste of money and I’m sad I don’t have any thing positive to say.

Ruka hair is really amazing from the product to customer service and even after purchase .I am so happy to be part of this family .

I got the headband wig in the longest size and it is terrible. It’s makes you look like a clown and there’s no way of toning it down. I’ve used Ruka before and it was fine but this was a huge miss for me.

The hair is amazing.
Honestly it looked so natural and full the quality is outstanding and am so happy with my hair.

As a former retail manager I was pleasantly surprised at how incredible Ruka Customer service is. Despite the fact I returned both of my orders (because I’d mistakenly picked the wrong texture), the level of care and attention I received to help me pick the right texture to match my own was beyond and I never felt like they were trying to sell me something. They even gave me a voucher code to use towards a future order without any expiry on it, I mean name another hair extensions brand that cares that much about making sure the women they serve are happy, I’ll wait!

We are often the most critical of our own but every successful business out there had to start somewhere, and as a black women myself I will continue to support Ruka because I’ve experienced firsthand how much they actually do care and because we need more brand like them in the haircare space! The hair did not match. Started a return on the 7.6.2023. Had to wait 2 days for label to be emailed. Had to print label & pay 4 a £3.40 at Rymans.
I tried post office unable to print. N post office charge o.70p to print label.
This is a free return from Ruka!
Returned item on 7.6.23, Ruka mentions, customers must wait14 days for a refund. They have to inspect etc. 14 day has surpassed.
It is 3.7.2023, no communication from Ruka. No refund. I have raised a merchant dispute with my bank.

Do not buy, this company does not like to return your money

Update 3.7.2023 Ruka communicates an email for my refund. 4.7.2023 We have closure. Refund arrived

The customer service at RUKA is brilliant! I reported an issue and they were timely and effective in helping me get my product. It's so nice to know that if there's an issue with delivery, we won't be left to figure things out alone.

Guys, please give this hair a chance before leaving negative reviews; I was on the brink until I contacted customer services, and Sashawna gave me some excellent tips in terms of products( olive oil leave-in moisturiser and As I am conditioner) to use and it honestly worked. Treat the hair as if it's your own, not the typical body wave or water wave bundles you buy from other vendors; it is supposed to replicate your hair texture which is what is so unique about this hair. Please ask the advisor for the products to use it makes such a difference; I was sceptical at first, but now I'm definitely a fan of Ruka.

Very good quality service and responsive team. I had issues with my delivery date and the team at Ruka were able to solve the issue promptly and were very kind through the whole process. Would definitely recommend this business. The hair is super cute too!

Bought the Think silk clip ins.
Absolutely love them! My hair is natural and sometimes I silk press it. The clip ins blended into my hair so naturally. They are easy to attach and they look good.
You get 8 pieces 2 of each (with 4 clips, 3 clips, 2clips and 1 clip). Didn't use them all but still made my hair look lovely and full.
Worth the money!!!

Firstly their customer service is amazing! They answer any questions you may have on your purchase. Their delivery so super quick and the hair is always packaged well. The quality of the hair is AMAZING. Even my hair dresser said the bundles were super good quality. This isn’t my first purchase from Ruka but every single time I am blown away.

The Ruka customer service team got back to me very quickly and gave such thoughtful and thorough responses to my questions about caring for the unit. I’ll definitely be ordering from Ruka again and I feel confident in reaching out to them for anything! Thanks Sashawna and Nneka!!

It arrived okay and well, I was initially going to return the hair but decided to keep and make it work. It used the pressed clip ins to create a ponytail look and worked wonderfully! I bought them clip ins to add versatility because I currently have a Bob cut. After two months - during which I used the hair about once a week - I decided to style the clip ins with my hair down. No heat was applied to them at any point or any heavy product. After about 20 mins my hair was stiff and bent where it touched my shoulders. So would stick up in the most unnatural and unflattering way. So unwearable unless I’m using them to have my hair up. I wouldn’t recommend based on hair quality. This was in December so I hope they’ve changed suppliers!

The perfume smells heavenly, and can honestly be worn during any season. It’s the perfect balance between shower fresh with a hint of sweetness. Ruka also offers top tier customer service, and I am more than happy to give them my business again.

My customer service experience with RUKA was out of this world!!!! To be honest, I didn't know such still existed in this fast-paced world we live in.

One of the ladies there called Nneka was so patient with me and professional. Even though I had to return the item initially because it wasn't the curl pattern I wanted, I was treated with so much value and she ensured I got what I wanted in the end.

I can’t believe I’ve finally found a brand that works.

The hair perfume is a lifesaver. It covers any smell and lasts the day. It has this Salon type smell. The fragrance is a fresh smell. That makes sense for hair - if you know what I mean. You will like it. It smells like you have a been to a Salon.

The edges product - including the brush, gives you a sleek finish. It sets so well throughout the day. I never need to touch up again.

The Serum is the best thing I’ve tried. I didn’t realise, or had forgotten that it was for styling too. If you want something that keeps your hair looking soft and moisturised throughout your day, especially after a wash day, this is it. A little goes a LONG way. I straightened my hair and I’m being honest - the serum acting as a heat protector, makes my hair look even better than when I go to the Salon.

Come on ladies - we need to make sure Ruka Hair don’t go no where!

Buyer Beware!!!!!

I am so disappointed with my experience with Ruka.

Due to its black ownership, I was so excited to place an order with this company. As a supporter of black women, I was drawn to the range of products offered.

On 1 April I received my purchase from Ruka. At first, I was satisfied with the texture of the hair, but the length was not suitable for the style I wanted. On 2 April I emailed Ruka saying that I had not received a receipt with my purchase and that I may want to exchange the item. I requested a copy of my receipt in the event that I wanted to return or exchange my hair. After my email went unacknowledged for several days, I decided to go their pop up in Selfridges on 6 April. The lady there was amazing! She was helpful end efficient, she called in the company to explain my situation. I felt satisfied with how she handled my concerns and I left hopeful. I was told that someone would soon contact to resolve my issue. Unfortunately, I was never contacted regarding my concern.

Despite not hearing from them I made a second purchase because I wanted to have extensions installed. I decided to try another texture, which I liked.

Eventually, I decided to returned both purchases because I changed my mind. The last return was made on 14 April. Once again, I did not receive any acknowledgment of my returned items or of any refunds. I can see that the items have been received via their return tracking notification. As usual, I contacted them last week after verifying that the order had been received. The hair had been received, but I had to email them. I once again waiting for an acknowledgment of my query and my refund.

Based on my disappointment with Ruka I have decided that I will never deal with this company again. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a company. So sad that it is a black owned business.

Quick delivery and timely responses from customer service. The hair arrived as expected. I'm really pleased with the quality, it's easy to wash, style and maintain and blended perfectly with my hair. The only nit picky point would be packaging (whilst totally sufficient to store the product) could have little more va va voom in design given the price point. The hair is light and bouncy and twists out looks great with this hair! I've tried other coily/kinky brands before from similar or slightly lower priced brands and RUKA stands out. I'll be back
