Well i raved about these dinners to everyone but after a while they went downhill ! issues from packaging especially the white trays break before they even come out of the box so flimsy ... other issues were no consistency at all over seasoning who the hell puts this stuff on your products like this ! i honestly could have poisoned my child with the amount of salt added and glad i got that meal instead of her ! then the next meal was full of herbs so many it only tasted of that herb was ruined next was a pie supposed to be beef and carrot OMG! it was huge lumps of carrot a whole pot of them in there should be called carrot pie ! and what a lot of money for pies that only have carrot or ruined by seasoning etc as they are very expensive ! but worth it if they get it right ... i notice now that the pies have dwindled off the menu i wonder why ? shame they were good at first... and can only see with the Roast Kings bad inconsistent standards they wont last long and those that give good reviews now give it time ...as i did and wasted a lot of money and you just know from other reviews they dont respond to negativity or act on it... so not a good way of running a buisiness all round... and i agree with a lot of the other bad reviews well the ones that actually get put on here !

I am writing this on Trust Pilot as the poorer reviews do not seem to appear on their web site when you send them to them.

I am very disappointed:
A great Idea but not well executed.

The Gravy tasted very salty and ruined the meal I had it on. I have been told by them that there is no salt in the gravy but if there isn't then something else makes it taste like that. The remainder went straight in the bin. Except that I tried another after being told there was no salt and found it the same. I did not put it on the meal.

The veg was very messy as it is mostly crammed into one section.
The carrots were grossly overcooked and almost soggy. Not nice at all, they should have a nice bite. I am not talking about the carrot/swede mash here. That was lumpy.
There were two very tiny not very nice parsnips. They, like the Roast potatoes (see below) need putting in before the rest of the veg. However, this is not possible because they a frozen to the other veg. in the compartment.

The roast potatoes need putting in the oven about 10 minutes before the rest as otherwise they are not at all crispy and are more like boiled.This can be done as they are in a separate compartment to the other veg.
The Red cabbage needs putting in a little later, otherwise it dries out quite a bit.This could be done by removing it from its own compartment and putting into your own container.

Frankly, the best part was the Cauliflower cheese of which there was a large amount.

I do feel that some variation in the selection of veg. should be available. It is quite boring to have exactly the same with each meal, even if it were good.

I had 1 lamb, 1 beef and 1 pork belly.

The pork was tender but over salty.The beef was Reasonable but the lamb was disappointing and a bit tasteless.

I must mention the packaging, an enormous amount, I couldn't believe the size of the box for three meals. I know they have to protect the product and keep it fresh and that a lot of the packaging is recyclable. It has to be produced in the first place though and I can't believe the 6 ice packs are recyclable. Not very ecologically friendly.

I am aware that these meals have received some very good reviews. Perhaps I was very unlucky or that other's standards are not the same as mine.

I don't enjoy giving poor reviews but I'm afraid they were not enjoyable meals and not worth the money. I will certainly not be buying them again. I am giving 2 stars as it was partly edible and arrived in good time.

Ordered a beef roast and a fish pie (the Xmas special) - all I can say is wow! Sophisticated flavours, huge portions and you can taste the passion that's gone into it. Even the desserts were amazing - so rich and indulgent. I heated the veg at 200 degrees instead of the recommended 180 and for 40 mins instead of 30-35 and it was perfect, so just be aware that ovens vary and you may need to leave in a bit longer, but it's so worth it! Will definitely be ordering again.

I ordered two roast beef dinners for Christmas. They were absolutely delicious. They by far exceeded my expectations. They were also massive with the most enormous Yorkshire puddings. I'll be back!

I ordered 7 Beef Roast Dinners, the first meal was inedible, one small parsnip, one small carrot, two undercooked hard potatoes, the remaining veg was just a mushy mess and the beef was like rolled up cardboard, finally the gravy so thick you could stand a spoon up in it. The second meal was just the same, so all 7 meals went into the waste food bin. When I complained to Roast King they offered me a discount on my next order, they did not apologise, what a cheek, and no refund of my £70 + they then Blocked Me from making any further contact with them, what a disgraceful way to run a business :-(

Received my delivery today absolutely out of this world never tasted a takeaway so good I’m on my own so will last two days next time I’ll order smaller portions I know some people. mentioned a bit pricey but worth every penny highly recommend

I purchased three roast meals. I’m attempting to organise the reheating of the first meal for Sunday lunch. However, on reading the instructions for the first time, I noticed a significant error. Whilst timings are given for different items. Nowhere does it give an oven temperature. It does say within the supplied literature to visit the website for full instructions.

Unfortunately, on accessing the website and trying obtaining the instructions, the website only defaults to the Roast Kings Story. My story is to get your website and literature in order!

After utilising 180C and increasing to 190C in an a fan oven I produced an acceptable meal. I will eat the two remaining meals purchased, but will not purchase any more. Firstly, the company offers enough food for two large meals. It’s choices of vegetables were unusual. Parsnip, carrots and cauliflower cheese have been normal in my family. However, the cauliflower was hard in the extreme. I have never seen mashed sweet potato in a roast before and was not enjoyed. The red cabbage was very good. However, I couldn’t eat the two potatoes as the fat they were cooked in was very unpleasant. The rare beef was tasteless and the gravy was in desperate need of a little red wine. The very large Yorkshire was only ok.

All in all not worth the trouble. I would prefer less but of higher quality. However, I’m fully aware that what was offered would suit many others. Since our national dish has so many varieties of vegetables in its contents, Roast Kings have a tough task to get right for everyone. That’s why they should offer differing vegetable packages to suit more customers.

Good service,well packaged. The smaller meals just suit me. Lovely meat, yorkshire and gravy. Only small complaint is the veg. Nice selection, but nothing green. Would like either peas,beans, sprouts or green cabbage. The veg are the same in every meal, would like an option of different ones. Have ordered more meals, so generally very pleased.

I've just eaten my first small beef Roast Kings dinner. It was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend

I found this company to be totally unreliable and unprofessional. I needed to change my delivery date and their website wouldn't allow me to do this, therefore I tried calling several times and emailing them. Nobody ever answered their phone, morning, afternoon or evening or emailed me back. I could only ever get through to their answering machine and even after leaving them 3 messages nobody got back to me.

Therefore my order arrived 4 days too early and I had no room in my freezer to freeze it. I ended up having to eat the food and then having to order some meals from our local restaurant for the day we originally needed the food for

The food was ok but their swede mash was awful, and had a really strange taste. The only green veg they offer are courgettes, a vegetable I do not consider to be a good choice for a sunday roast. None of my family of friends like courgettes, they taste of nothing. Apart from the cauliflower and roast potatoes the veg had so many added ingredients, which were over baring.

I can't understand why chefs have to add spices and so many other ingredients to veg, just leave them to taste as they were intended to. Also, besides which, once you've added on the cost of the delivery it works out to be a very expensive meal. I will not use again!

Soggy veg, potatoes not crispy. Pork was acceptable. Huge disappointment. Main problem is I’m left with a not very nice aftertaste. The rest that I’ve ordered will go in the bin. Lesson learned.

Outstanding! If you're reading these reviews and as yet not tried Roast Kings then you're missing out on a great eating experience. We've tried local deliveries which didn't quite hit the spot so we thought we'd try RK's and take a gamble. We've now had 4 roast deliveries, all absolutely delicious and restaurant standard. No idea how the food tastes like it's fresh from the oven having been on a postal journey but it does. Portion sizes are fit for a king and will satisfy the biggest appetites. I can't recommend them enough. Also great VFM..

Jaw dropping mouth watering Gluten Free Roast Dinner deliciousness.

This is proper pub/restaurant quality Roast dinner. Not processed, no presevatives just proper food pre cooked to perfection by experts.

As ever with something new I was wary of what would be delivered and how it would cook up.

The delivery was excellent, very well packaged and delivered on time by the courier.

The veg portion sizes and GF Yorkshire pudding is immense! The portion of meat is restrained but actually perfect when balanced by the cacophony of veg. The red cabbage is a particular triumph.

The reheating was straightforward but I did write down the timings to get everything right.

I turned the Roast potatoes mid way so all sides were crispy and I found the Yorkshire Pudding needed a few minutes extra as did the gravy.

The meat was perfect but I think next time I'd cook the beef for a few minutes less to keep rare and potentially either cover with a bit of foil or even some of the gravy.

These Roast dinners are well worth the cost, the taste, quality and portion size is amazing and to be able to order gluten free options makes my heart (and stomach) sing!

I will absolutely be ordering again.

Ordered 3 dinners , 2 beef, 1 chicken wrapped in bacon, extra marmite potatoes, parsnips and gravy.
It all arrived well packaged and was refrigerated straight away.
I was pleasantly surprised at the veg tray size and portion sizes the yorkshire puds were huge. However the marmite roast were soggy the normal ones were just passable, other veg good. The beef was unfortunately tough altho it did have a nice flavour. I wouldn't bother ordering extra veg again as we couldn't eat it all. The gravy was nice and flavoursome also had horseradish gravy which was good.
As a reheated dinner we all enjoyed it, not as good as fresh home cooked of course but being disabled it certainly makes for an easy Sunday dinner.
Yes I would order again but maybe not the beef.

Not worth it for the price you pay. Our local convenience store does a big fresh cooked piping hot roast for £5.99 the lot.
Lots of different plastic trays to faff about with no actual cooking instructions on the packets.
Soggy potatoes
Dry chicken. Too much money and too much hassle. I cook better myself.

I was disappointed second purchase and not as much food as first time. the veg was crammed together in tray the roast potatoes were not crispy like roasters should be the beef was chewy.I did eat the yorkshire and gravy was nice rest went in bin.

We have ordered twice now, and each time the food was fabulous and lots of it. Just not worth cooking at home when it’s this good. Well done

Excellent service and the food was absolutely delicious! Ordering was so simple and delivery was spot-on. This is perfect if you live alone, saves money, time and effort making a roast for one! I will definitely be ordering from Roast Kings again 😃

I live on the Outer Hebrides, a long journey for my meals but they arrived in absolutely perfect condition, sooo well packaged!
I have just had my roast chicken dinner and it was fabulous…. Excellent quality and great flavour. I have a small
Portion left which will make a light lunch for Monday!
When my freezer is a little emptier I shall be ordering more! Definitely.
