I subscribed for a PS5 in November…
I subscribed for a PS5 in November 2023. I opted for the 6 month subscription as I didn’t know how it worked and I thought I paid for the device to own it after 6 - 12 months. It is now October 2025. I have “leased” the device for 23 months now. If I take the total I paid thusfar (R1040 pm x 23), I have paid Rentoza R23 920. SO, I have checked online, and according to BusinessTech, the model is based on, if you want to “buy out” the product while it is still in the “subscription” period, meaning for example if you want to buy the product 6 months into your 12 month subscription, you need to pay the amount upfront for the months that you still need to pay (I don’t know if it makes sense). So with that in mind, The last time I made contact to try and “buy out” my device, they stated that I should pay R8260 UPFRONT to end my subscription. That means, for a gaming console that normally cost around R8000 to R12000, I would end up paying R32 180. Please be aware of this BEFORE using Rentoza. Think twice or put a little money away in a savings account and buy the item you want for cash, you’ll pay MUCH less and you wouldn’t have the stress to deal with non existent customer care. I purposely opened a new bank account and closed my old one, so that they can contact me about the missed payment, because honestly that’s the only way I can talk to them.

This review documents the complete failure of service I experienced with Rentoza.
My order was placed 45 days ago. During this extensive waiting period, RentOza's system maintained the original Estimated Time of Delivery (ETD), providing no proactive communication or revised estimates, which created a false sense of security.
The situation was compounded when, just two days before the supposed delivery date, I finally received a critical update confirming the commitment could not be met. To deceptively maintain a consistent, unachievable ETD for over six weeks and then change it at the last possible moment is a display of gross unprofessionalism and a systemic breakdown in logistics and customer care processes.
My trust in this company is irrevocably broken. Due to the excessive 45-day delay and the unacceptable communication void, I am officially canceling the order and no longer want the product.
My expectation is an immediate, full refund. This is not a request, but a requirement resulting from a failed contract of service. Prospective customers should be acutely aware of the substantial risk of severe delays and a complete absence of transparent communication when dealing with Rentoza.

Rentoza is the King of Ripoff artists. I have paid a 24 month subscription for 2 items and now it's time for the buyout or final payment. They offer for that payment to be made over 3 months, which makes sense. What they Neglect to tell you when you sign up is that the "buyout payment" split over 3 months WILL BE ADDED TO THE NORMAL SUBSCRIPTION WHICH WILL ALSO BE PAID OVER THE THREE MONTHS. This is an absolute ripoff and I will NEVER deal with them again, and I suggest that no-one else ever deals with them. They take advantage of people and rip them off completely. Rentoza SUCKS!!!

My phone got locked after 2 days of me receiving my certificate of ownership because of an "outstanding payment". My phone was locked for over 24 hours with no assistance from the company. They kept asking me for info I could not provide because my phone was locked, I could not access it. I lost a day's worth of clients because of this and I got no apology from them. They kept sending me payment links for a phone that is not owed.

I want to share my experience with Rentoza so others don’t fall into the same trap.
I paid R1,510 every month for 6 months for a phone, and when it was time for the buyout, they told me I needed to pay R11,010 extra. That’s basically the price of a brand-new phone — but the phone they gave me was already second-hand. When I received it, it even had someone else’s photos, messages, Instagram and Facebook accounts still on it.
Before the 7th month, I told Rentoza I couldn’t afford the buyout and asked them to collect the phone. Instead of arranging that, they kept sending me threatening emails about taking legal action. Only when I said I would sue them back did they admit those emails were “automatic.”
I’ve been waiting since 24 August for them to collect the phone — nothing has happened. It feels like they’re trying to trap me and make it look like I’m not cooperating.
💡 Please be careful before signing with Rentoza. Read every detail of the contract. My mistake was thinking I was paying toward owning a phone, but in reality, I was just throwing money away.
In this economy, paying R1,510 per month for a device you’ll probably never own is not worth it. Based on my experience, I believe this company is unfair and exploitative.

I have been waiting for a refund as I changed my bank and it's been 3 weeks and all they say is "there is a delay in the payment department" they do not respond to your emails and just don't care about their customers but yet want their money. I have been a loyal Rentoza customer since they first started operating, but unfortunately, my experience has gone from hopeful to deeply disappointing. As someone who supported the company from the beginning, I expected consistency, transparency, and reliability. Instead, I’ve been let down time and again.
One of the biggest issues is that Rentoza constantly advertises items on their website that they don’t actually have in stock. As a customer, this feels misleading and creates unnecessary frustration. You browse, get excited about a product, only to find out later that it isn’t available — yet it still sits on their platform as if it is.
For a company that built its reputation on being innovative and customer-focused, this lack of honesty and efficiency is unacceptable. It feels like loyalty doesn’t count for anything, and rather than improving with time, the service quality has declined.
I truly hope Rentoza reconsiders how they treat long-standing customers, because at this point, they’ve made it very difficult to continue trusting them.

Disgusting Service and Total Neglect – Avoid Rentoza at All Costs
I have been a loyal Rentoza customer since 2023, paying my premiums faithfully every single month without fail. Last week Thursday, I logged two claims for my faulty washing machine. It has now been over 5 days and not a single person has contacted me.
I followed up multiple times via email — the only reply I got was that the claim had been “escalated.” Since then, complete silence. When I pushed again, Rentoza told me to “log a claim” as if I hadn’t already done so — an insulting and dismissive response.
Meanwhile, my washing machine remains broken, and I am left with no support whatsoever. This is appalling service, a blatant breach of contract, and a total disregard for paying customers.
The irony? Rentoza has no problem phoning you rudely if you are one day late with payment, but when they owe you service, they disappear.
I will be filing formal complaints with the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (CGSO) and the National Consumer Commission (NCC), and will be pursuing legal action for breach of contract.
Avoid this company at all costs. They will gladly take your money, but when you need help, you’ll get nothing but silence.

What I have to say about this company will have me banned on here, but here's my experience. My order was canceled a day after I made the payment. They informed me that my refund would be processed within 6 to 14 days. That was on July 3rd. Now it's August 5th, and despite my repeated attempts to contact their customer care, I have yet to receive my refund. This experience has been frustrating; it feels like they have stolen my money and are ignoring my messages. It's incredibly disappointing.

I am soooo upset that I didn't come and read these reviews prior to using Rentoza. Same issue as most of the people here. My item was meant to arrive on the 22nd July and when I emailed to request a Waybill, I was then told that the item is not in-stock and they apologise but they can't provide me with a new ETA. I am thinking about canceling the whole order and finding other means, because it seems like it is a trend for them to not deliver on time/as promised.

Absolutely Disgraceful Experience with Rentoza – Avoid at All Costs
My experience with Rentoza doesn’t even deserve one star. I placed an order on 29 April, fully aware that the ETA for delivery was 3 July. Throughout May and June, I received weekly email updates confirming that nothing had changed and I could still expect delivery on 3 July—with the last update received on 29 June.
On 1 July, I emailed Rentoza to confirm whether delivery would still take place within 48 hours. I received only a generic, automated response stating they were "working closely with suppliers" but could not confirm a delivery date.
Given this uncertainty, I immediately cancelled my order and received a prompt reply saying the cancellation had been processed and that I would receive a refund within 6–12 business days. I was advised to follow up only if the refund wasn’t received within 14 business days.
When 12 business days passed (on 17 July), I followed up again, only to receive the same copy-paste response about the 6–12 day refund timeline.
Today marks 14 business days, and upon following up yet again, I was now told—shockingly—that my cancellation was only just actioned now, and that I would need to wait another 6–12 business days.
To say I’m appalled is an understatement. This is a blatant display of negligence, dishonesty, and disregard for customers. Rentoza seems to operate on scripted, impersonal responses with no accountability, transparency, or genuine customer care.
I've given them until close of business today to refund my money. They have neither acknowledged nor responded to my last email.
I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but I can see from the many others here that Rentoza is consistently ignoring customer complaints. I have now disputed the charge with my bank and will be lodging formal complaints with the NCC and CGSO.
Consumers deserve better than this.
Ongoing delays and poor communication
I subscribed to a smartwatch on 1 June 2025, and despite Rentoza’s 7-day delivery promise post-verification, I still haven’t received my item by mid-July. While I appreciate the polite responses from their support team, the replies feel scripted and repetitive, with no real progress or confirmed dispatch dates.
I have had to follow up initially, only to get vague answers, despite the delay clearly exceeding their advertised timeline. If the product wasn’t in stock, it should not have been listed with the 7 day timeframe (I now see it has since changed on their site to 45 days). This undermines trust and creates a very frustrating customer experience.
This is not my first delayed order either, which makes it even more concerning. I hope Rentoza can start prioritising transparency and reliability in their subscription service model. Until then, I cannot recommend them with confidence.
