The first ring was my engagement ring. After a horrible experience with a national chain jewler, my fiance found a very similar ring to what he was trying to buy for me on Renaissance Jewel's website. He loved the ability to customize every detail of the ring online, and the pricing was a fraction of what we were being quoted at the chain jewlery stores. After speaking to a sales consultant, he took a leap of faith and ordered it. Fast forward a few months, and after his perfect proposal, I had my dream engagement ring!

I knew I wanted my wedding band to sit perfectly flush with my engagement ring. Since my ring is a twisted band, I couldn't go with just any design. I reached out to the customer service team at Renaissance Jewel, and Steve and Susan were incredibly helpful with offering some designs that they already had in stock, as well as some alternative options. However, none of them were quite what I had in mind, so I eventually was connected with Ben, the amazing employee that assisted me in custom designing a wedding band. He listened to every detail and concern that I had, to ensure that the ring his team designed would be perfect. After a couple of days, the design team was able to send me a CAD drawing of the ring, which was exactly as I described. I just received my custom designed wedding band, and it is exactly what I had envisioned!

I am so happy with the rings and the service that we received from Renaissance Jewel and would 100% recommend them to anyone else!

I want to be completely transparent in this review so future buyers know exactly what to expect.

To start on a positive note: I love my ring. It is beautiful, well-crafted, and sparkles like crazy. But so much of that love comes from the care, thought, and effort my partner put into customizing it for me.

However, I feel compelled to share our experience with Renaissance Jewel because their design scaling practices and marketing are misleading.

1. The Band Scaling Issue & Loss of Metal
I am not easy on my hands, so I specifically did not want a thin or delicate setting. We deliberately chose this wide, substantial bezel-set band because I wanted something durable with plenty of surrounding metal for protection. Online, the setting features a thick, bold band.

When my partner questioned why the finished ring looked so much thinner than the website photos, customer service dismissed it as a "fashion image" and confirmed via chat that the site render features a 2ct center stone. Additionally he was sent CAD images and questioned the thinning with the team but was told..." Your just gonna have to see it in person and if you dont like it you can return it and buy a bigger stone"...

The side-by-side comparison makes the loss of metal obvious:

In their 2ct stock render, the center diamond sits neatly inside the thick, substantial borders of the band.

On my actual ring with a 1ct stone, the design team narrowed the entire band down so drastically that the 1ct diamond actually spills over the top and bottom edges of the band.

If you pay a fixed price for a setting, you should receive the full width and metal volume of the design—regardless of whether you choose a 1ct or 2ct stone. Thinning out the band to match a smaller stone without clearly stating the millimeter changes feels like taking away gold that was already paid for. To be transparent, the company should list exact millimeter widths and center stone carat weights on their product listings.

2. Inflated "Sales" & Pricing
Additionally, the "50% off site-wide" promotion feels like a total farce. Listing a 10k gold channel-set band setting at over $3,200 just to "discount" it down to $1,649 creates a false sense of urgency. It’s an inflated markup strategy and a dishonest business practice in my opinion.

Final Thoughts:
I cherish my ring because of what it represents and how much my partner put into it. But Renaissance Jewel needs to be much more transparent about how drastically they shrink band proportions based on stone size. Buyers should know that the thick, bold band you see online may turn into a narrow band in your final piece.

The communication throughout the ring making process was fantastic. I enjoyed the cad files and the various photos of the ring throughout the development. I have not had the ring long but it is beautiful.
