Ally was very responsive, and was there every step of the way as I passed through the various interview stages. She's very good at breaking the ice and making you feel at ease and also really well-informed about the roles she introduces to you.

I had a great conversation with Ally from RedBeard Talent. She was very energetic and enthusiastic, and she seemed genuinely interested in helping me find the right role, and match with the right company! I would definitely recommend her to others.

Unprofessional

I made it to the final round, an interview with the CEO, for a senior position at a well-funded startup.

I worked with Kyle at RedBeard until the assessment round. He was 10/10 — personable, a complete hype man, gave helpful direction.

Then, I’m assuming he left the company and I was reassigned to…I don’t know who, as multiple people kept popping up in my email and no recruiter formally introduced themselves (besides manager Amber, who swiftly disappeared).

I was asked to send in a content marketing plan/assessment to RedBeard before presenting to the hiring manager.

I created a pretty standard deck in the B2B industry for my level. The instructions for the assessment were pretty general, so I spent a few hours showcasing my best work that I’d present to any other client.

RedBeard team reviewed my work. Some junior recruiter reached out with feedback: “This may come off as too intense. Consider reading off a doc!”

Ok. I appreciate that RedBeard does a feedback round, but my first thought was — yikes. I uphold a certain standard for my clients, and it was obvious the recruiter was a month into her first job (I did check after, lol).

I kept the deck as is — and the Director of Demand Gen interviewing me so far was thrilled. And that’s why I passed to the final round.

After that, RedBeard team botched my available times (provided multiple times) THREE TIMES and kept making the CEO reschedule with me. Made me and them look highly unprofessional.

The role ended up not being the right fit, and I was rejected by the CEO. Totally fine — except that, due to the tight timeline, I got an email with the rejection from RedBeard and a promise to pass the CEO’s feedback live…and since been ghosted.

I understand small teams scrambling when someone quits the team. I understand getting junior recruiters to handle scheduling (maybe not feedback assessments…) What I don’t understand — how you can handle the most intense final interviews period with a candidate in such an unprofessional, careless, and borderline hostile way.

It’s been a few months and I’m genuinely more disappointed in RedBeard than not getting the job. It started out as a refreshing, approachable partnership — and ended up with me being treated like a nuisance for asking to schedule according to the times I provided.

I am very sorry for your experience and the fact that you feel disappointed. We hold ourselves to very high standards as you can see from the other reviews so this is definitely something we don't take lightly.

I did some digging to get to the heart of it so I can provide more context. You're absolutely right in saying your Account Manager Kyle moved on and you were being managed by multiple other people. The transitioning wasn't seamless and impacted your experience, something we have identified as a big learning for future. Thank you for pointing it out and offering feedback.

As for your comment on the recruiter being a month into the job- our entire team is a minimum of 14 months into their role so unsure whom you're referring to? I hope you checked out the Redbeard Talent and not any other agency because I know candidates liaise with quite a few agencies which can create confusion.

I looked into the chat history, both with yourself and the client and the reschedule happened because of the CEOs availability. That is unfortunately something we have less control on however I do apologise on behalf of Canary and have also shared your feedback with them.

Great, refreshing first meeting, totally different to other recruiters first meeting. The individual person you are is absolutely in focus of the recruitment.
