Rails made selling our items extremely easy. Emails were answered promptly and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend Rails.

I ordered a Dean Goods locomotive 2308 from the brand Oxford Rail, and ordered it from the retailer Rails of Sheffield. It worked for roughly an hour, but then after a few minor derailments, it stopped functioning properly; the coupling rod was not attached to the crank pin properly, possibly binding up the mechanism because of it. Also, the wheels were dirty when I first got it, and there was no plastic cover to protect against cosmetic damage, which it should have had, and it had a scrape on the side of the tender stepladder, making me believe that it was not new and had been used and returned. There were several problems with it when it arrived. I tried to contact the retailer for a refund or replacement, and they said I would have to pay for shipping back with my own money, and they would only give me a credit card voucher for their website, rather than a prepaid shipping label. I went back and forth with them, and they would not offer any other compensation for shipping. They did not make it clear whether I would get all the shipping money back or just the cost to ship it to their facility. The shipping was roughly 18 pounds, and the train was $150, roughly after tariffs to the US and the shipping to the US. I am very skeptical about going any deeper financially into this purchase to potentially only receive store credit. I’m loath to spend 18 more pounds on top of my original purchase to merely have a possibility to get my money back on the engine and shipping with no guarantee of full restitution. It was very disappointing to have this happen, and all I want is for other people not to fall into the same trap that I was caught in by these people.

I recently sold a large collection of model railways to Rails of Sheffield and the whole experience was excellent from start to finish. They offered me a very fair price for the entire collection, and the communication throughout the process was clear, professional, and very reassuring.

One of the things that made the process especially easy was that they arranged to come and collect the collection themselves, which meant I didn’t have to deal with sending it via courier. This made the whole experience completely stress-free.

The driver who came to collect the items was extremely friendly and polite, which really added to the positive experience. It’s always nice to deal with people who are both professional and personable.

I would highly recommend Rails of Sheffield, not only for selling items to them but also for buying from them. I’ve used Rails of Sheffield numerous times in the past as a customer and have always been impressed with the service I’ve received.

Overall, a very smooth, fair, and pleasant experience. Highly recommended.

SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE. 24 hours after ordering paying £4 postage - "Doubt your item would ship, we are too busy UNLESS you an additional £4.50 postage before 1PM".
Paid the £4.50 postage - 11AM and was told I would be receiving tracking - nothing. Tracking received Wednesday AM showing it won't be received until the following day.

Great prices and website let down a little by being slow to despatch. Pointless paying for next day delivery when taking 2 to 3 working days to despatch.
This has happened with all my deliveries; it is not an isolated case.
If you need your items quickly then look elsewhere.

I contacted Rails of Sheffield regarding selling my son's second hand engines. I gave all the relevant information and then was emailed to ask to send them,as they were interested. Have sent the engines now to Ben and have received payment promptly. What a great service.

Great service with an easy to navigate website and fast delivery. Occasionally I have phoned them and the staff are knowlegeable and friendly when dealing them. I have had excellent service from this seller.

I recently decided to change scale on my model railway from HO/OO to TT120 and saw that Rails of Sheffield were interested in buying pre-owned model railway stock. Having contacted them I spoke to Ben & Jake who clearly explained the process. Having considered my items for sale they made me a very generous offer which I readily accepted. From that point on both Ben & Jake provided excellent assistance making the process quick and easy from start to finish.My items were packed up and they arranged pick-up from my home address. I would certainly recommend you contact them should you be looking to sell model railway items that are no longer of use.

Ben, in the ‘Second hand Dept’ was a great help whilst selling some goods to Rails of Sheffield. He answered emails promptly and precisely offered a fair commercial price for the goods and was prompt in paying for the goods.

Recently did business with this company selling my N scale rolling stock. Dealt with an excellent guy called Ben who offered a fair price for my items which I accepted. Items were collected by courier and received by Ben in excellent condition. Will do business with this company again and can thoroughly recommend them to others looking for the same service.

Upon sending my list, I was contacted promptly and given a reasonable offer. When Rails received my parcel, I was contacted to confirm it had arrived safely. Easy to use and highly recommended

I wanted to sell 12 of my Hornby and Bachman coaches that were surplus to my needs. Filling in the list on Rails' dedicated website was simple, especially so as I had the manufacturers' product numbers, and Ben at RoS came back to me on the same day with a fair offer. I packaged them up and sent them off last Saturday, received an acknowledgement on Monday and was paid the full offer on Tuesday. A very satisfactory experience.

Sadly I had to dismantle my model railway because of downsizing, but Rails offered me a fair price for my locomotives and coaches and paid very promptly. I am pleased that they will be sold on to someone who will enjoy them.

last few orders have been very sloppy ordered the KR DD train and had to ring them up to remind them i had ordered it * SLOPPY #1 * took them a while to work that out too. Despatch was surprisingly Ok once they worked out it was paid for But shouldnt have to remind them !!!!!!!!!!!! Also paid for a SATURDAY delivery and yep it arrived MONDAY

#2 ordered an item at 1038AM on friday and even rung them up to ensure it was despatche BEFORE the deadline and yep you guessed it Marked as POSTED SUNDAY SLOPPY again

first order was a HST power car set in virgin livery description of the listing ceratianly didnt mention it wouldnt run correctly #SLOPPY 3
