Ali from Private Midwives provided excellent care to me and my family. Her professional experience, sense of humour, and warm personality helped me ease through my pregnancy. Even though I had to transfer to hospital for the final leg of the birth, I felt calm and well cared for through the entire birthing experience.

The care that I have received from the the team and especially my midwife Remi has been out standing!

I felt valued, respected and heard. All of my wishes were met and nothing was ever too much for Remi, she was always at hand to answer any questions. During my labour, Remi was my greatest source of comfort, she wasn't just a midwife but a birthing partner also, the compassion, care and professionalism demonstrated was above and beyond. Thank you again ❤️
 

Using private midwives completely transformed my pregnancy and birth experience. Fiona is a wonderful midwife and I cannot speak highly enough of her skills and her care. She dedicated so much time to me, my partner and our baby. I fully believe that the reason my first birth was so positive is down to Fiona and the Private Midwives organisation.

With her on hand during early labour I felt calm and in control. Fiona also ensured a smooth admission into the labour ward where she did everything she could to make sure we got the room we wanted with a birthing pool. She was an amazing calm presence during the birth and encouraged me to use different labour positions or breathing techniques. When the time came for baby's arrival, Fiona advocated for us and through the BRAIN technique we were able to have an unassisted delivery by waiting a couple of pushes instead of going straight to a forceps delivery.

Impactful professional personal care provided by Sharon Gamon and Sara Ifill made such a difference to our daughter's pregnancy and birth experience and I dread to think how it would have been without their support. As a concerned grandfather-to-be I was relieved to see the competence and caring support for all of us with our questions and most importantly during the difficult birth and the post natal care. Also, great tips and really practical advice for all of us. Thank you so so much!!!!

My husband and I were really glad that Nash was with us during labour and over these few weeks before and after giving birth. Her support, professional advice, personalised approach and positive attitude (with a great sense of humour!) made the whole experience much easier and nicer. Rating only her assistance it would be 5/5.

4-star rating comes from a slight disappointment with the commercial side of Private Midwives - messaging me about payment when I was in the middle of labour and then chasing only 2 days later when we were still in the hospital, or asking if I want to purchase from PM additional items specific for home birth - even though I did not consider home birth at all. Overall communication could be better as well. These are not major issues, but I would expect more consideration from an organisation of that type.

This was my 5th home birth and my 4th time availing of Private Midwives to have a home birth. It was my 3rd birth with the same midwife, Ann Bargh, so needless to say I was very happy with the care I received.

Ann listens to what you want and delivers it :) She is relaxed, well informed and very professional.

I used hypnobirthing and gentlebirth for my births and Ann adds wonderfully to these by keeping me calm, relaxed and in the zone. She knows what I need often before I know myself.

I feel safe with Ann. I feel cared for, listened to and nurtured. She knows how to take care of the mum and support the family in being part of the experience. My husband feels very supported by her.

My kids were waking just as I was giving birth and although we had somebody in the house ready to take them out, instead they got to meet their little sister within minutes of her being born. Ann (who's like family to my children now after knowing her since 2020) was wonderful at including the kids and my 9 year old got to cut her little sister's cord. How special!

All of the other staff on the admin side have also been a pleasure to deal with (Linda, Jo, Pat, Nikky). As was the midwife (Sandra) who was to be the second attending my birth. I would highly recommend Private Midwives and Ann Bargh in particular.

The care from beginning to end was next to none . We are delighted that we made the decision to go with private midwives. Our midwife Sinead and our second midwife Sandra were fantastic during our birth. A flawless team. Sinead’s care before and after the birth both emotionally and physically was incredible and her visits are missed. This was the best money spent.

We worked with Jo Bird from Private Midwives and had the most amazing experience. Jo was a constant support throughout the pregnancy and early postpartum. It made a huge difference during labour and birth in particular, to have a trusted, known professional with us, advocating for the birth that we wanted while we were in our birth bubble. I would recommend a private midwife to anyone considering it. If we have another pregnancy in the future, I will be calling Jo!

Brenda was amazing from start to finish and I really felt she brought a personal touch to our antenatal appointments. She was always ready and willing to give all the time we needed to discuss things in depth.
When the time came for the birth, she brought a quiet, reassuring presence, and was very tuned in to the needs of our older children, who were in the house with us during labour and birth. She knew what to say to put my mind at ease when uncertainties would arise.
We would definitely recommend Brenda and Private Midwives Ireland to friends and family.

Sharon made the experience great but also the wealth of information and put if hours access. In the hospital her advice and guidance was invaluable.

Booking Kay as our independent midwife was the best decision we made during our pregnancy and without a doubt was the most important factor in our calm and happy pregnancy and birth at home. Kay is so experienced and knowledgeable and was able to present a wealth of information and research to help us make the right decisions for us and our baby, leaving us feeling confident and empowered, which is something we will forever be grateful for. The care we received was to such a high standard and we would absolutely recommend Kay’s services to any pregnant woman, you won’t regret it!

Private Midwife - Heather Berry

After months of coming up short with my local health visitor care and GP I sourced out private care. Heather Berry came the day after my consultation and at 14 weeks released my son’s 100% tongue tie, I had spent weeks working with my sons feeding and trying to figure out what was wrong as I’d been advised countless times that his tie wouldn’t effect his feeding as it gradually declined to a worrying point prior to seeing Heather. I cannot recommend Heather enough, she was kind, understanding and full of knowledge. She showed me how to help him following the release and helped me re gain my confidence and enjoy feeding again. My son is so happy and feeding so well now. Thank you so much Heather xx - Amy xx

We cannot thank Fiona enough for the incredible care and support she provided during the latter stages of my pregnancy, the birth of our baby, and the postnatal period. From the moment she came on board, she listened to all my needs and concerns with genuine care and understanding, making me feel completely supported and confident. Her wealth of knowledge and practical advice were invaluable, especially as we prepared for the birth and adjusted to life as parents to a newborn.

The birth itself went incredibly smoothly, with no need for any kind of intervention—a testament to Fiona’s expertise and calm, reassuring presence. She made the entire experience feel natural and positive, and knowing she was there gave me complete peace of mind.

Fiona’s postnatal care was just as exceptional, helping me navigate those first few days with confidence. She was always available to provide guidance, reassurance, and support, ensuring both baby and I were thriving.

While hiring a private midwife is a significant financial commitment, I can say without hesitation that it was worth every penny. Fiona’s level of care, dedication, and professionalism are second to none. I feel incredibly lucky to have had her by my side during this special time and would highly recommend her to anyone.

We had an amazing experience with our private midwives, Tess and Leonie - Tess was an incredible support throughout my pregnancy and postpartum, and it was truly thanks to her that what ended up being a tricky birth was not traumatic. I could not have done it without her. Leonie has also been a wonderful support, particularly regarding our breastfeeding journey.

The standard of care is so high - I only wish that everyone had access to this level of support. Would not hesitate to use Private Midwives again for any future pregnancies!

We had few visits from midwife Ali and were very satisfied with support and advices we received. We got some materials on breastfeeding and colostrum harvesting from her on an initial call which were also very useful.

It’s hard to put into words how incredible Private Midwives were both during and after my pregnancy. I cannot recommend them enough. My midwife Kay was exceptional- incredibly supportive, kind professional and extremely knowledgeable. She put me at ease throughout my whole pregnancy. The service from private midwives allowed me to have continuity of care which meant there was absolute trust between my midwife and I by the time I went into labour. That trust was key to the positive experience I had during my birth. I truly believe I had a happy healthy pregnancy and birth largely due to the care I received from Kay. Not only was Kay brilliant but the wider staff at private midwives were 2nd to none. Jo at the head office regularly took my calls for support, answered questions and was generally a kind ear when I needed it. I also regularly heard from other senior members of private midwives to check in on the care both my baby and I received pre and post natal. Private Midwives was worth every penny and if I was to have another child - I will 100% be using their services again. Thank you team for all you did for me.

I contacted private midwives initially because I was very nervous about my 3rd pregnancy because of a miscarriage afew years ago.
I was given Emma’s details and after our very first phone call I felt positive and at ease. It was like I was in safe hands.
But I had no idea just how much Emma would have impacted my pregnancy and most of all my birth experience.
Any questions, doubts, worries, Emma was there, just a phone call away.

As for the birth itself (that was in hospital) Emma was my rock!!!!!!! I couldn’t have done it without her.
When I wanted to give up or simply just have someone hold my hand, she was there. Giving me the strength i needed. I will forever be thankful for Emma giving me the pregnancy and birth that I’d always wanted

Nina was a lovely Midwife. Sometimes she was to late, but she took every time the time she needs for me and my problems. The breastfeeding support was great and she was like a good friend for me. She was in so many thing helpful and supportive. Me and my children miss her, we like her a lot. Thank you Nina

Emma was the best midwife we could ever have asked for.
From our very first conversation on the phone with her she felt like a friend and we always looked forward to our home appointments. Feeling so at ease in her company I believe really helped us have a physiological birth at home.
Fortunately, for us we had a non-complicated birth, however I believe it’s also important to say, I always felt entirely confident with Emma that she was the person we would want by our side in the event of an emergency. She is knowledgable, experienced and her care is meticulous.
Emma is a truly caring person who will always put her mummies and babies first. I couldn’t recommend her any more highly to families wanting a truly magical birth experience.
