After sales service minimal
In March 2024 my Gliderol garage door malfunctioned, I rang PFR Doors up and they agreed to look at it. They said I needed a new limit switch which they fitted and reset the limits. I was charged £100 for this work which included a call out charge.
All was well until some time later the door would intermittently stop about half way down then go back up. The next press and it would close properly. We don’t use the garage that often (it is used like all others mainly for storage) so I just put up with the small inconvenience as I didn’t want to pay the £60 call out fee.
After about 10 months the garage refused to open when I pressed the remote, I just got a beeping sound. I switched it to manual and opened it and when I looked at the limit switches they were only secured by one screw. The casing where the screw should have been was broken. I rang PFR but it was bad reception and he said he would get back to me later. He texted me later saying “What is the issue with the limit switches”. I sent him a photo of the broken switch. He replied “Right I see it now, they will need replacing however as a temporary fix you may be able to put a screw in with a washer to keep it in place”. I told him that I had been in touch with Gliderol and the screws only come with the motor housing, a lot of expense for one screw. After a few texts back and forth, me asking why it was left like that and him saying it was fine when they left we reached a stalemate. My final text to Liam was “I was charged £100 last time how much will it be this time? Can you explain how that damage could occur? The limit switches are sold in pairs so I can’t understand why you didn’t replace both of them. Also the outer dust cover was missing and you never mentioned it, the Gliderol video shows it on the motor housing”. Liam never replied.
To summarise the after sales service was very poor as was the workmanship. I bought 2 new limit switches from Gliderol for £14.99 and luckily found a screw to replace the missing one. In about an hour & a half I had the door working perfectly thanks to YouTube video’s.
Won’t be using these people again.
