Hired Paul Crowley after another solicitor in central Liverpool had proved totally incompetent, day after a very long briefing it was clear that they could not handle our business and they were fired. I was dealing on behalf of an elderly relative who had no email and was unable to manage the transaction detail. She knew what she wanted though! Matthew W handled her very sensitively and dealt with me in a very professional manner. This was an extremely difficult and protracted purchase dealing with a vendor overseas who claimed not to speak English and Rusty the dog, plus solicitors who seemed to be based in Sri Lanka. There were also very serious legal claims on the flat against the owners. In the past I have dealt with many legal issues and Matt seriously kept me sane and helped me not to give up on this one, and after nearly one year negotiations, my relative is now living in an ideal flat for her, and living her best life. Many thanks to Matt and PC.

I would like to share my experience with this company as a buyer who was seriously affected by the incompetence and negligence at Paul Crowley and Co Solicitors (PCS).

I am a first time buyer who purchased a home without a chain. As there was no chain either side, you would think that the process could be completed in 4-6 months, but you would be wrong. With PCS it takes 15 months.

It took PCS 3 months to draft the initial paperwork needed in order to get started. This is negligent, unprofessional, and lazy.

It then took my solicitor to point out that the sellers mortgage needs to be actioned in order to complete the purchase. PCS seemed to have not even considered this and advised we needed to wait a further 5 months in order for them to action their own clients mortgage. This is sheer incompetence and highlights critical knowledge and capability gaps.

It took PCS a further 6 months to answer two simple questions relating to a third party.
The only way we managed to gain traction was when my solicitor contacted the third party directly and essentially did PCS job for them.

The third party provided the following feedback verbatim:

„While I would ordinarily not engage with the buyers solicitors, I have been unsuccessful in getting responses from Paul Crowley, so in the interest of all parties I have reviewed your email“

Despite me actioning every task swiftly and having an outstanding solicitor, the process was long drawn out due to delays by PCS. This resulted in me having to go through obtaining a new mortgage offer twice, and forcing me to also apply for an extension since the offers kept expiring due to delays caused by PCS.

They repeatedly made promises to complete or exchange but were never prepared to do so when the date came around. As a result, I almost dropped out of purchase of this house. This shows their inability to adhere to expectations they set themselves, and lack of professionalism.

My solicitor often didn’t know who in PCS to contact as up to 6 different people seemed to be involved in this one case. This undoubtedly contributed to delays, massive gaps in understanding and basic competency, and inadequate communication. I have been completely unimpressed by PCS.

I would implore leadership at Paul Crowley and Co to look into this case and the gaps in capability and quality under your employment.
I hope that this complaint is taken seriously and that an investigation into the mishandling, negligence, and incompetence of the team who handled this case is completed with appropriate action taken.

If you look up their reviews on reviewsolictors you can see they have triplicates of positive reviews in what appears to be an attempt to fake the numbers. The poor reviews submitted on this platform are also not available to view. I would implore PCS to look into this to ensure it meets the standards of transparency and integrity expected by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Before engaging with this company, please ask yourself if you can afford the delays, money lost, and impact to health via stress first. Their incompetence could cost you time, money, and result in buyers dropping out repeatedly. The impression I got from the people working on this case at PCS is that they simply couldn’t care less. Throughout this process, they proved time and time again that they have no clue what they are doing. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company to anyone.

Phoned in this morning to get some advice, the lady on the reception was very rude on the phone, reluctant to help. Wouldn't even give me her name 🤣 take my business somewhere else , obviously don't want the business

My experience of working with this company has been excellent. In particular Sofia Papageorgiou and others in the team. Nothing was too much trouble. I was informed at every stage and my claim was settled with minimum of fuss. Would definitely recommend
