Received backpack about two weeks after placing my order. Backpack was given to me as a birthday gift. It has a great vintage WW2-era look, sturdy, and has a compartment to easily fit a tablet or laptop computer. Side compartments are also well placed.

I would recommend this company and purchase again in the future.

The bag itself is great but customer service is awful! My backpack arrived with a torn camera bag insert and missing a buckle and magnet clip. For 2 1/2 months they've put me off, promising to ship the replacement items and never do. They refuse to provide a Supervisor and/or phone number. They are terrible!

I am very pleased with the leather knapsack I purchased. It's obvious the workmanship is superior, and the pack is very functional and attractive.

I returned the bags according to their stated returns process but they refuse to accept receipt of the bags and refuse to refund my money. A scam and criminal behaviour.

If I could give less that 1 star, I would.
The original date of delivery was 1/2/25. I still have not received it. Everytime I ask for a refund, they give me another excuse to delay addressing that request. As of last email I received, they do not know where it is. It was never delivered anywhere, never returned to them, and their tracking doesn't show anything on its location.
Also, they are not made in the United States. They are made in China.

SCAM! Selling products from AliExpress / made in China, as hand made goods by himself in the US. SCAM!

These bags are OK and I did finally receive them. The quality is so so. I bought two because there was a advertisement on there that said take another 20% off if you buy 2. I never received that extra 20% and through a bunch of emails I am sure I won't as they kept giving me the run around.

However setting all the deceit, creative and false advertising abut fictitious character Master Craftsman Paul Richard going out of business aside... I went for the all leather Kalmar Laptop Backpack for $214.00. Once arrived, I was quite impressed with the overall design, construction, craftsmanship and materials used. Quality of the leather and finish are great. Very durable and will age well as with most brown tanned quality leather. All leather compartments and the shoulder straps are nicely lined with heavy canvas cloth. The two leather top flap buckle straps I thought would be inconvenient to access the main zippered compartment. Not so. They are instead fastened with quick simple easy magnetic snaps! Stitching is nicely aligned throughout the bag. Only exception is the leather zipper tabs where the stitch line is off center a tad on the back side. There is nothing cheap looking about this all leather knapsack.
For it's maiden voyage, we loaded it with two mags of Napa Valley Cab and headed for dinner in Tiburon. Compliments all around and that was before pulling the wine! Only question I fumbled with an answer was- Is it made in the U.S.? Can't rightly say where the Paul Richard line is made. No where on the bag does it say 'Made in China'. And if it was drop shipped, the vendor has wisely repackaged and mailed out from Vernon, California.
No, the bags don't arrived in fancy Louis Vuitton boxes and white canvas dust bags. But I also didn't fork out $14,602 for a LV x Supreme which actually looks anemic in comparison. Besides, rather save my sheckles on a down payment for an Austin Martin DB9 with brown leather interior to match my new leather bag.
The product arrived in double ziplocked inner plastic bag with outer brown colored bag nicely displaying the 'Paul Richard Handcrafted Bags, Estd. 1997' signage and stag logo. Works for me.

I ordered 2 bags as gifts for the Christmas holiday, shipping was slower than told it would be.

When I finally I received both bags, I realized after giving one as a gift, it had a portion of the top zipper not correctly sewn into the bag.
I reached out to the company and it’s been crickets ever since. 3 weeks to be exact.

The bags are fair quality, however the overall company online experience was average at best.
Still hoping the co will make it right.

The best customer service anyone could have asked for. There was a shortage of material for the messenger bag I had ordered and they took great care in making the adjustments to fullfil my purchase.

I recently used one of the bags I purchased for a trip to L.A. I love the durability of the canvas material, the clever internal separation pockets and the hidden back pockets that are perfect for a cell phone. I’m excited to test out the other bags I purchased and suspect they may outlast me because of their sturdy material and construction.

These bags are made in China! They created a Paul Richard for the site. I ordered a bag before Christmas not knowing this. It finally arrived in mid-January. This ‘leather’ bag is made of canvas with a few leather decorations. Certainly not worth the $100 paid. It arrived wadded up in a plastic bag. This POS was wrinkly waxed canvas suitable for the garbage can. What a rip-off! Buyer Beware!

Over the course of the 2024 holiday season, I ended up ordering 5 bags of different sorts.
Except for the final bag, all arrived promptly with plenty of update emails to keep me appraised of where my bags were located. The final bag met with some material availability delays but pushed the delivery date back by just two weeks.
All of my gift recipients had good things to say about their gifts & I like the two that I kept for my travel use.

I placed an order for a canvas backpack about 6 weeks ago. Not long after I was concerned about the reviews I was seeing online. Not to fear. I received my product as ordered a few weeks ago. It is of excellent build quality. A great design and I'm really pleased with it. Long may your business continue.

‘ Caveat Emptor’ Let the Buyer Beware!!

Do your research thoroughly( it’s easy to do!) before dealing with ‘ Paul Richard’.

The ‘ story’ regarding ‘ Paul’ being an individual artisan who is closing up his Workshop ( of bags made by himself) is just that, a ‘ story’.

The bag was shipped from China, and is of the quality one might expect to find in ‘ copies’ of branded goods, mediocre at best and made in a ‘ factory’.

Treat the regular supply of ‘ gushing’ and Positive reviews on here with equal scepticism.

This is an operation that uses AI to create a ‘ notion’ with regards its identity and brand.

They respond, promptly, to emails, but with ‘ computer says No’ responses that are fluent but entirely unhelpful and unresponsive to customer needs.

Avoid what will be a frustrating learning experience at your own expense!
