"Optimum is the absolute worst provider for cable and internet service. I signed up about a month ago, and nothing ever works. I've gone through three boxes already, and the service is still consistently down. On top of that, they keep raising my bill for no apparent reason. I'm beyond frustrated—I'd honestly rather spend my nights staring at a wall than pay $200 a month for cable that barely functions. And let's not forget the customer service reps, who are incredibly rude and seem determined to start arguments. Seriously, they're the worst."

Start over. That's how this company could improve. The customer service is crap, the internet service doesn't run properly will have extreme lag/latency, don't even get me started on their mobile service. It's the worse I've ever had and I've had straight talk. Never will I ever use them again nore will I let any of my family and friends use this service. I've worked for cox on the internet side and I've worked on cell towers. This is the worse service anyone could get. They'll ask for different payments to "improve" service because I didn't have the top package. Once getting the "best" they had to offer. It ran exactly like the rest. Same issues. Bluepeak is better, but not by much. Unfortunately when you've only got two choices you've gotta land on one and Optimum is just a waste of money and time. Go to bluepeak or dobson at least you'll get someone from the US that understands and actually cares what you're going through. Instead of just upselling because that's all they are "properly" trained in.

I want to start out by saying that for nearly 20 years I loved Optimum and when other people would complain to me about their cable company I would rave about how responsive and outstanding Optimum’s service was. That changed about five years ago and has gotten progressively worse.
The first problem was when they ran a new line into my house. It was installed through the side of the second story of my house. In the following weeks and months when it rained I had water leaking through my dining room ceiling. A contractor came out and immediately noticed the hole where the cable was coming in wasn’t sealed off in any way. He hit it with some silicon and the problem was solved but the door jamb and ceiling in my dining room was severely damaged. When I confronted Optimum about it they didn’t even express any concern or remorse. They just told me they’re not responsible for anything beyond running the line in the house (which I don’t totally believe) and I need to get a contractor to “make it pretty.” I would gladly have had someone seal it if only I had been told about it.
Then their customer service representatives became nothing more than human websites. There are rarely people in their call center with any more information than the website. They’re literally human chat-bots who use entirely too many words to give too little information. I had to talk to four different people to get a simple answer to a cloud-DVR question. I had to call three times to answer questions about their fiber optic internet service. Suffice it to say their reps are lazy and moronic.
A year ago we were promised a specific reduced price for our loyalty. When the bill came that price was not honored and when I called to confront them they said they couldn’t honor the price. They counter-offered and we landed between the two amounts but I will never forget that they lied about the price they were going to give us.
Recently, having had enough of their nonsense, we canceled our TV service. Unfortunately we have to keep their internet service because it’s the only option in our neighborhood. It took 30 minutes to complete that transaction for some reason but then when they sent the summary of the new bill it included two $15 line items for “Total Care.” We were never told about Total Care, never discussed Total Care, but there it was on the bill. I found out what the service was (it’s a useless service contract for them to fix equipment that isn’t normally their responsibility like your personal router or indoor wiring that you damage yourself). Thankfully we scrutinized the adjusted services and saw this before we were billed for it. They tried to get an extra $30/month out of us for an optional service that we were never told or asked about.
I sent an email outlining the severe decline of their customer service to the person in charge of customer experience at Optimum. It remains unanswered.

Have had Optimum Internet for years paying for 1 gig download. Get <50 Mbps. Have had tech come out to the house at least 5 times over the last 5 years. $80 each time to say they can’t figure out what the problem was, must be my high quality netgear router and higher quality Modem, which all work perfectly. The last time they came out the guy said the lines are so bad, I’m surprised you have any service. The next day a truck came out and worked on the lines for a good 8 hours. An Adminstrator called me and told me I needed to use their router modem, mine was no good. I told him I was not going to pay for it and a monthly fee. He agreed! Now I’m getting charged for the modem and monthly fee. Speed is good now after years of complaining and paying @ $1200 for high quality router modems myself and numerous techs with truck come out over the years. Now they say, well, you just need to pay the monthly fee. Nothing we can do????? Can I speak with your supervisor? No it’s just me… you will have to pay the monthly fee! They suck!

I signed up for their mobile phone service on March 3, 26. The line was not activated for 19 days. I transferred my wife's phone following their instructions and she was without service for 6 days. 25 phone calls to their customer service team and nothing was resolved. To cancel everything was more painful then having an arm amputated with a rusty saw. I had to demand 22 times that my account be canceled, and yet they are still charging me for a line and service I don't have. Next stop is legal action

I wish there was an option to give lower than one star. I live in Leander Texas and we're pretty much stuck with them if we want unlimited internet. They are hot trash. Straight up hot trash worse internet ever goes out at least 2 to 3 times a week.

Virtually impossible to cancel service. When you call they put you on hold and verify your info dozens of times and eventually they just hang up. I'm paying nearly $200 a month for service which is 1000 miles from where I now live and I'm stuck with it . Not a thing I can do . I've called about 11 times trying to cancel.

They kept raising my internet price by $10 every month for no reason without telling me so I tried to cancel my plan. When I called, they initially had me on hold for 30 minutes, then forwarded me to four different agents who all claimed they would cancel it. I had to explain to each one them my situation every single time which was very repetitive and they didn't help whatsoever. On top of that, each of them kept offering to discount my rate by $20 if i kept the plan. I kept declining and said I needed to be somewhere important soon but they didn't listen and kept on going. Finally, after over hours they said they cancelled my plan. The crazy thing? When I checked again the next day my plan wasn't even cancelled. The absolute worst customer service I've experienced in my life

We were replacing our internet boxes and while there, the representative convinced me to switch to Optimum Mobile. His name is Daulin Pena at the Morristown store. He went out of his way to explain everything about the service and that it would be less expensive than the Verizon service I had. A lovely young man.

I have absolutely never done business with a company so awful. The way that you manipulate vulnerable people and force services with promises that are lies is despicable. It is only a matter of time before you face your consequences. Sickening. and if you are a young person working for these criminals . GET OUT! I am amaaaaazed at how many horrible reviews with the same story are posted everywhere and you still are authorized to run a business.

Worst internet service ever. Paying for services we never received. Then when you call to cancel they try to upgrade you for more services that you will not receive. Constantly getting text saying no service and d not know when you will have it back, but you will still need to pay your monthly bill. Had service for 10 days out of 30 but still required to pay a full month for the service. Of, when you call to cancel the service, it is like getting a government office to do some work. I am having tk beg and plead with them to cancel out my service. I am not even hooked up to anything with them now and they still will not cancel.my service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, BAD BAD BAD. Even when you are dead, you will have service with them because they refuse to cancel. Clingers, you can't break up with them

My area doesn’t have fiber so there were outages at least 2-3 times a month. ATT has fiber so I went to Optimum website to cancel. No, you have to call to cancel.
Worst experience ever. They kept me on the phone 34 minutes!!!! They have a script they need to go through. She kept saying “I understand” and then continues on her script. Everything she said showed she didn’t understand that I simply wanted to cancel. After 31 minutes she said she has to transfer me to an account manger who offered lower price. When I interrupted to ask, “ Did the last person cancel my account? She said, “Don’t rush me”. Unbelievable. Finally after 34 minutes I got off with assurance that they would process cancellation.
Optimum if you had just done want I asked in a few minutes I would never have written this review but making your agents badger customers over and over is bad business- and I bet causes high turnover.

My most recent interactions I called got hung up on multiple times, was transferred and had to restart multiple times and to beat it all after finally thinking my address got updated and my username corrected as they input it incorrectly last time I called, well neither was ever corrected so today I contacted the chat on the app told her the problem and she stated I had to call and before doing so was trying to reset my password when I never requested it. Then she had the audacity to say she was going to disconnect the chat because of abusive language because I stated that changing from Suddenlink to Optimum has not helped their customer service. Again no assistance but to tell me I have to call a number where I have never been helped since I have been with this company even after the name change. I am disappointed that they call it customer service. I am a customer service agent for the State and yes we actually assist people. If you are paying these individuals as employees at least make sure they do their jobs. Look at the reviews, that alone should get the wheels moving to correct a bad situation and possibly allow your customers to feel like they were assisted. small things can do a lot but I would start with a better way of monitoring my agents and accountability. Otherwise the company will just change its name again to trick people into thinking things will get better

We have had Optimum service since it first became available on Long Island. It has generally functioned okay, but any dealings with customer service or tech service has been an absolute nightmare. Our most recent experience was especially challenging. We have moved to a different state and needed to cancel our service and return the equipment. I went to the Port Jeff Station location and they refused to accept the equipment back unless I called the Optimum number first. Four other people were in the same predicament that I was. They had in stand in the lobby and call the phone number. The person on the end of the line refused to cancel the service because it had my spouse as the primary person on the account. She kept asking for him to be put on the phone or call them himself even though I explained he was currently on an airplane. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they said there were none. After 30 min, I gave up. The Port Jeff location still refused to allow me to give them the router and cable box. (There was no supervisor there either and they said that person only works on Thursdays.) As a result, I had to bring the router and cable box to the state where I now live, spent another 30 min on the phone, and now I have to ship it back to NY. The customer service rep obviously had a script to follow because he kept offering special deals to keep my service no matter how many times I said I had moved and want nothing more to do with optimum. He was planning to send me the packing slip information to the optimum.net email address even though I would no longer have access to it! Once he finally processed the cancellation, he offered a special offer for mobile phone service. When the call finally reached it's end, I had to officially say that I wanted the service cancelled. Then he told me it would stop at the end of the billing period, so Optimum is charging me for 2 weeks of service that I'm not using -- a final way of overcharging and scamming customers.

This company lures you in with a good price and no contracts but if you have a problem you are at thier mercy. My modem would stop working anywhere from every 5 mins to 30 mins. I contacted the tech department and they sent me another modem. After several failed attempts of self set up I contacted the tech department again. They told a service tech would have to come on site to fix this issue and the soonest they could be out was 11 days from then. I then received a text msg asking if the issue was fixed. If not to respond with AGENT and I would get a call. The agent seemed to be having a problem with line cutting in and out, and hung up on me. This happened twice. Two days later I received an email to rate my experience. The next day I got a phone call from Optimum who told me I could go to a store 1/2 hour away to get another modem, and option that was never mentioned before. When at the store the representative told me in an apologetic tone that the company values new customer hook ups more then customers with issues and he himself could not get a field tech to his house for 2 weeks. This did not make me feel better. I was actually wondering why I was continuing to do business with this company. They just want to give their customers homework assignments to fix the companys issues. Their idea of customer service is to pass you off to someone else or see if they can ignore you and maybe you will go away. I finally got the problem with their faulty equipment that they gave me not two months earlier, with great effort on my part.

Optimum is a HORRIBLE I had no tv internet for part of April 15th and part of April 16th. I called them but it was very hard to get thru to them. When I finally got thru which was a number of times none of them knew what they were doing.Finally after hours of getting aggravated I finally got a woman who knew what she was doing and all was working fine after that till the next time. This happens every once in awhile. They know how to charge u the money but the service SUCKS.
