Trouble Free Sale
We used Open Law for the sale of 2 x properties and additionally a name change on the Land Registry for both houses. Despite being messed about by the buyers of both properties Kim Taylors Team at Open Law have guided us through the entire process bringing both to a satisfactory conclusion.
I cannot emphasise enough the pressure involved in selling property however Kim's Team have been able to keep the process moving throughout.

Professional good communication
Having used a number of different solicitors over the years for conveyancing / mortgage related matters, Open Law have recently provided the best service I've had. They handled a Transfer of Equity related to my divorce. Their structure - with different teams - worked well, meaning I never had to wait long for a response, and there was always someone on hand to speak to about my case. There were initially a couple of delays, because of miscommunication from the mortgage company about where to find the mortgage offer details, but once Open Law had received all the paperwork they needed, they were very quick to process it. It was stress free, and they completed before my deadline, which was great. They also kept me informed of progress throughout, and I appreciated their fixed price, so I wasn't worrying about the cost of emails and questions. All the staff I dealt with were professional, kind, and knowledgeable. I will definitely use them again. Great service!

A great team
Open Law dealt with the conveyancing for my house sale. The whole team were always professional, helpful and kind. Their communication was great, especially at the 'key' times.
The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that sometimes there is an issue with completing forms electronically on the 'portal' and being asked to complete something similar sent by email. This isn't a big issue at all.
I didn't buy another house at the same time, but am using them again for my house purchase.

Kim and team were exceptional throughout our purchase, being patient and pragmatic through a sale made all the more complicated by a 'challenging' solicitor down the chain. Fees were reasonable and clear with no hidden surprises. Would definitely use again although hope not to have to!

Like getting blood from a stone. Do not respond to emails or phone calls. How they are still operating I have no idea. I think they give a huge chunk of commission to estate agents who recommend them. So many people have had purchases and sales fall through because of these cowboys

Kim and her team were helpful in moving my sale and completing in a reasonably quick timescale (buyers needs were urgent) I didnt like the thirdfort identity check process I thought it was too intrusive for a sale. I would have preferred to fill in the many forms manually which would have allowed for comments and explanations making it easier. Phone was always answered and the team got back to you.

Not an enjoyable experience
At the beginning I was happy with the support from Open Law. Team was willing to listen and engage.
However, I found myself losing confidence and at times patience with Open Law.
At times I felt like I needed to know the 'Art of Law' regarding house moving and have the knowledge to understand. This is despite me telling the Team on MULTIPLE occasions that they need to be a bit more clear to someone who may not understand the process well.
I believe the team at Open Law can learn more about effective communication and person centred supported. At one stage I was told I was not a priority as other clients needed to get their deals in place to avoid increase in stamp duty. I did not appreciate being told I was not a priority.
The entire process with Open Law did leave a bitter taste in my mouth despite a good early start with them.
I only chose Open Law as they were recommended to me.
I hate to leave a negative comment but I feel critical feedback needs to be given.
Advice - active listening, effective communication and person centred training is required for the team at Open Law.
