A lovely property and spacious, beautifully kept, garden. The barn is in a quiet, pretty location and we enjoyed hearing a wide variety of birdsong. The barn itself is very well appointed, spotless and extremely well provisioned. Fresh flowers, fixings for a full English breakfast, and a cream tea plus a basket of Cornish goodies were all included. The iwalk Cornwall app recommended by the owner W as really useful and we enjoyed lots of trips to the coast just 15 minutes away. The barn proved to be very well located all round with quick access to Padstow and coastal walks and a few minutes drive to the A39 for points further afield. We used a Tesla to get there and had dedicated use of a Tesla charger at the Barn which was very convenient. Excellent all round.

The Old Barn is the most relaxing place to stay - welcoming but unobtrusive hosts, a wonderful and thoughtfully curated welcome basket, luxurious bedding and a super comfortable bed. A good night's sleep guaranteed and you wake up to bird song.

The kitchen is amazing, has an Aga and absolutely everything you might need, even a stand mixer.

Tregonetha is a lovely quiet location yet close to everything so you can have as quiet or lively a break as you like.

Looking forward to the next visit already.

This was our second visit to The Old Barn and it would be safe to say it did not disappoint. The location was just perfect for all of our day trips and meant that we could keep our children entertained even though not everything was open as it was all just so accessible !

The standard of the cottage was second to none and we loved the attention to detail in the care package of food and drinks that were left for us, coupled with the delivery of delicious fresh Cornish Pasties from Stephen !

Could not recommend this cottage or it’s hosts more highly !

The Old Barn is a real home from home, so clean and comfortable with the friendliest of welcomes from Stephen and Allen and very generous food hamper on arrival. This was our second stay and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas, with the woodburner (and ready supplies) ensuring a cosy and relaxed week's stay. Perfectly suited for a family (and dog!) friendly holiday and the EV charger is so convenient. Thank you - we can't wait to go back!

We were lucky enough to still have our family, half term break, here in Oct. We certainly were not disappointed and had a wondeful week ( despite the unpredictable weather ). The Barn was the perfect, most luxurious base for us. It’s perfectly located for lots of exploring around beautiful Cornwall.
The property is stunning ( the photos do not do it justice!! ), immaculate, spacious and has lots of mod cons you wouldn’t normally encounter in a holiday property. Steve and his partner have literally thought of everything. And the added touches of the generous welcome hamper, refridgerated goods and delivery of warm, fresh, local pasties on the first morning make it extra welcoming and personal. There’s no wonder they keep winning top notch awards!!!
The Barn really is a gem of a property and we’ve found the perfect base now for our future Cornish family adventues.

Fabulous holiday cottage, could not fault it. No wonder it won the best in Cornwall. Great location too, near the beaches, restaurants and food outlets that make this northern coast of Cornwall so special. Owners could not have been more helpful, and the welcome hamper and the supplies in the cottage were the most generous we have ever encountered. Lucky enough to get a last minute booking. Will be booking for the same time next year.

So disappointed that our 2 weeks at The Old Barn has been cancelled due to the National Lockdown. However, within 2 days Stephen has replayed 100% of the rental fee. What a gentleman he is.

We visited the Old Barn for our honeymoon and it was such a lovely experience. We were greeted with a personalised vegan hamper and some of the best almond croissants we have had. The condition of the Old Barn was immaculate, I can't see a single person being disappointed. Fit for a family trip or a long weekend away for a couple. We will be visiting again in the coming year!

Stephen and Allen are very hospitable, kind and helpful. Their eco-friendly spacious beautifully converted barn was a pleasure to occupy and was spotlessly clean throughout. The furnishings are of a high standard and the kitchen is very well equipped. Finding a 5 star property which accepts 2 dogs is rare but Stephen and Allen welcomed our two mutts who met up briefly with their 3 delightful dogs. Stephen and Allen were never intrusive but are at the end of a phone/text to help with any queries. The enclosed south facing garden is lovingly tended and full of beautiful flowers and shrubs. Previous reviewers have mentioned the welcome pack and cream tea on arrival which was extremely generous and very welcome after a long car journey. The fluffy bath robes were also appreciated and a rare find in a holiday let. Tregonetha is a good location to explore mid, south and north Cornwall and despite many tourists in the coastal hotspots (due to Covid restrictions not permitting holiday folk to fly abroad) retreating back to quiet and peaceful Old Barn at the end of a busy day was welcome. The Wifi was excellent and we took a fire TV stick 4K enabling us to stream Netflix etc. The only item I missed was a hand held shower for hair washing and bath cleaning! The shared access is a bit rough and uneven but is a very short distance. Thank you Stephen and Allen.

There is something truly special about The Old Barn, maybe it's the Aga warming the kitchen, maybe it is the sheets, crisp in their Egyptian cotton. Could it me the Hamper of Cornish treats, the lovely hot showers, the afternoon tea upon arrival, the fact it is spotlessly clean? They are all marvellous things - what I think is truly special about The Old Barn is that Stephen and Alan seem to have thought about everything you will need - even when you do not know it yourself.

Review*: What a fantastic place the Old Barn is. Beautifully renovated, to a very high specification but at the same time with homely and relaxing comfort. Stephen and Allen are the most generous hosts, with such attention to detail to leave you not wanting for anything... except slightly better weather during our stay! The measures in place to handle the additional arrangements for COVID-19 are faultless and sensibly employed. The hygiene and cleanliness is spotless. We were here for the week celebrating our anniversary and we were so well looked after - the welcome array of goodies is just the most extensive we have ever seen anywhere. And then the pasties on our next morning were just gorgeous. All told, the Old Barn is worthy of all the accolades Stephen and Allen have rightfully earned - it is home away from home and we hope it’s not too long before we can escape for a return visit. Absolutely 5*, by far the nicest property we have stayed in! Stephen and Allen are wonderful hosts we received a very warm welcome, nothing is too much trouble and so much thought has been given to every aspect; from providing the most amazing welcome pack including fresh local produce for breakfast, pasties, fresh fruit and cheese to fresh flowers (the list of goodies is endless), there was even a cake and balloon waiting for one of our party who was celebrating a big birthday, which was all hugely appreciated and made the visit even more special.

The property itself is full of character and beautifully furnished, so comfortable and relaxing, again there was absolutely everything you could need, must mention the comfortable beds, even gowns and toiletries were provided. Everywhere was immaculate, spotlessly clean with all precautions taken.

We experienced mixed weather during our stay, we had the pleasure of sitting in the sun in the very private and beautiful garden but equally felt cosy and warm indoors on the more unsettled days. A great place to stay whatever the weather! In a lovely peaceful location, near enough to easily visit the more popular places but also really convenient to visit a number of different beaches with a choice of coastal walks.

This is a wonderful property. Brilliantly converted and maintained in immaculate condition, the house combines original features with all the modern touches you could hope for. It is extremely well-equipped, with the kitchen including everything you need for even the most ambitious piece of home cooking - all aided by a good collection of cookery books!
Not least of all, we were provided with an amazing grocery pack, including everything from sausage, bacon & eggs, fresh fruit and cheeses, through to bread, scones, biscuits, cakes and chocolates! There was even a comprehensive selection of spices and sauces to help with those recipes! And we mustn’t forget the freshly-baked pasties that our host, Stephen, also brought to us - another very thoughtful touch.
Stephen is a fantastic host; a genuinely kind, thoughtful and attentive owner who will do all he can to make sure his guests are happy. With ‘Old Barn’ Stephen has created one of the very best holiday homes you could wish to stay in and we are already looking at when we will next be able to return. ‘Old Barn’ is first class in every respect!

A lovely break for us all - including the dog!

Old Barn is really well equipped and the welcome hamper and goodies - and fresh flowers were much appreciated.

Stephen and Allen were charming hosts and nothing was too much trouble.

We arrived at Old Barn Tregonetha on the day restrictions were lifted - having booked at the start of the year - and everything was perfect.

Upon booking (via the Old Barn website at a fantastic price, better than via third party booking sites) Stephen contacted us shortly afterwards to introduce himself. Stephen proved to be a genuinely invested host during the lockdown, keeping us informed of the current situation and recognising any concerns we had.

The Barn itself is finished to a stunning level and felt homely the second we entered the property - even better than the pictures! The beds were extremely comfortable and the Aga was fantastic. Stephen was there to introduce himself in person and took the social restrictions seriously throughout the entire stay, but took them within his stride, always being warm, friendly and approachable. The Cornish hamper was amazing and enough food supplied (sealed) for the first day of the stay.

The location is great as there is easy access to the A roads and Padstow is only a short drive away. Other main attractions like Eden Project are only a 20 minute drive, and Newquay less than half an hour. There are large supermarkets nearby that also deliver food shopping to the Barn.

Finally, the secure garden was perfect for our big dog to happily roam around, and had the weather been better, would have been fantastic for BBQing and relaxing in.

If future holidaymakers decide to spend the evening in the Barn, then be aware that the Smart TV doesn't have access to streaming services such as Netflix, but HDMI leads are provided - that is the only negative opinion and is trivial at best!

Overall, an excellent stay and host; I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

Stephen is the most charming host, there to meet us on arrival and to say goodbye in person.

The property is simply stunning, luxurious and homely. Fabulous fixtures and fittings, super beds, great bathrooms were all as expected. It's the little things - the welcome hamper, cream tea, fresh pasties and flowers that really sealed the deal for us.

Oh, and the fact that our dog could run around in a secure garden (and she even had her own treats provided - meant everyone in our party was happy.

I honestly could not recommend this property more highly. The location is superb to explore Cornwall and the property itself is second to none.

The owners were incredible. It was evident by the standard of the property and the attention to detail that they have poured their hearts, souls and a lot of consideration into ensuring all of their guests have a wonderful holiday. From the welcome package of food and drinks to the plethora of information on the web site everything has been covered.

The property was immaculate and the level of cleanliness was incredibly impressive. The extra measures they have put in place in these uncertain times were above and beyond and very reassuring.

My children are already asking to return and we will definitely be booking this property again - we had a truly fantastic holiday.

Very sadly, due to the pandemic and having a newborn baby we decided that this year we won’t be staying away from home at all so not visiting like expected in August. We were very much looking forward to staying as have known friends to stay previously with their dog and they high recommended. The booking process was straight forward and when I made contact to explain we wouldn’t be visiting there was no issue at all in getting our deposit back the same day!! Really hope to visit next year once the world is slightly more normal!!
