Mum and I went on Emma's weekend crochet retreat in Hexham, it was fantastic. We had an amazing time, learning new skills, crocheting brilliant projects, chatting, drinking tea and eating cake.
Emma made everything so special for us, the room decorated in crochet, we were made to feel comfortable and the atmosphere was so exciting too.
Cannot thank Emma enough for making our crochet retreat the best weekend ever 🤗

I absolutely loved my one day workshop with Emma. So much so that I am going back for the weekend retreat!
Emma is amazing - so kind, patient and helpful. Everyone is made to feel that they matter to her, no matter what level of crochet they know, and her sessions are just a lovely chance to relax in the company of other people keen on crochet - to learn, laugh and have a great time!

I love Emma’s retreats. They’re a wonderful way to relax and indulge in crochet. There’s always a good mix of projects, lovely people, and in luxurious locations. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves to crochet.

Just returned from a lovely weekend attending the Crochet Retreat at Crewe Hall with Emma from “Oh So Pretty and Clever Crochet”. Lots of lovely food and an amazing venue. Had a fantastic time, lovely ladies to crochet, chat and chuckle with. Would definitely do it again.

Very relaxing day retreat making Xmas decorations . Emma is a great teacher and very patient. This is the 3 rd time attending her retreats.
I have always found the people very friendly and like minded . As well as the projects provided everyone has lots of hints and tips . You can also take along projects you’re working on for advice/support and suggestions. Great day out or weekend if your looking at weekend retreats. See you again soon Emma . X

Would thoroughly recommend Emma’s retreats and workshops, her teaching is really clear. She makes it a fun experience and looks after her clients very well. And she’s very patient! Definitely one of the best craft classes I’ve tried.

I asked Emma to help me make a baby blanket, having no previous experience of crocheting. Emma was patient, confidence boosting, and taught me all that I needed to know for me to complete my project, and all in just a couple of sessions. Thank you Emma.

I used this company to learn to crochet the lady (Emma) was very kind friendly and patient I am left handed and she to the time to explain every thing to me while teaching someone that is right handed I would highly recommend this company to anyone that wants to learn

I recently attended a weekend crochet retreat ran by Emma at Crewe Hall. Having never attended one before, I was a little unsure what to expect. The setting of Crewe Hall itself is very impressive, the accommodation was comfortable and the food was more than adequate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now onto the good stuff - Emma is an incredibly friendly, fun, knowledgeable crocheter. She put together an incredibly fun weekend including two very different projects - she was on hand to provide support, and laughs, throughout the whole weekend. I had wondered how it would work if the attendees were all of different skill levels, this wasn't a problem as those who had less experience were given more support and no one felt left out or pressured to compete/complete their project in any given time. The group of ladies I had the pleasure of meeting were all very enthusiastic about crochet, very friendly, bubbly and fun. I went along with a friend and we both had a fantastic time. Not only did we come away with a cool goodie bag, projects completed/to finish at home and fun memories, I also picked up new tips and tricks / techniques and made some new friends. I would thoroughly recommend Emma's crochet retreat to any one who enjoys crocheting, wants to meet like minded people, have a right laugh, lots of treats and learn something new. I can't wait to book another one!

Thank you for a wonderful retreat. It was great to sit with likeminded people and chitter chatter whilst learning in a informal setting. Emma helped me understand and master the logic of a single crochet. Something I have struggled with for the last 3 years.

I have just been on the November retreat run by Emma and had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. I also went on one in April this year and enjoyed that so much that I rebooked.
The atmosphere is relaxing and fun. Emma turns an already stunning room in the hotel into a super area with every comfort you could need. The time , love and effort which goes into her retreats is very obvious.
There were many skill levels on the weekend with some superb ‘ show and tells’ , far beyond my level of competence. However the projects that Emma shares with us are interesting and geared so that more advanced crochet folk can get ahead and even finish ( unlike me! ) and less accomplished crocheters can work steadily.
I did not need as much help this time but Emma will always take time to guide and advise.
We were encouraged to do our own WIPs as and when and constantly shared laughs, tales and tips .
Emma takes great pains to ensure that her guests are happy .
The atmosphere is totally non- competitive and very laidback.
I would recommend the retreat to meet new people, learn new skills and generally get away from the stresses of the outside world with like minded people.

I attended a sunny weekend retreat at the end of August at Crewe Hall with Emma who was welcoming from the very start. The venue is an amazingly beautiful Jacobean mansion and the public rooms are panelled and ceilings painted in truly stunning style. Our bedrooms were spacious, modern and very comfortable. Emma provided a lovely room for our group of mixed-ability crocheters - I have only been doing it less than a year and have just made simple blankets. My friend was even less skilled but a couple of others had obviously been doing crochet for years! Everyone got on well together, chatted, listened to music and Emma was so helpful if we struggled with any activity. We had lovely cold drinks, snacks, tea and coffee in ample supply for when I had ripped my piece out for the 3rd or 4th time and chocolate was called for! Emma helped me to overcome my problems (working too loosely) and I received so many compliments on my pieces when I went home. Emma even provided a demo of yarn-dyeing which we could participate in out on the terrace under sunshades. It was a great end to a very, very enjoyable weekend. Emma did her absolute utmost to meet all our needs, liaised with the hotel to ensure our meals were on time and is an extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful lady and I achieved a level of skill that I did know I possessed! Emma’s workshops will no doubt go from strength to strength and I wish her well.

Emma is very skilled and patient. I have undertaken several online courses and attended one crochet retreat to date. I find her HHH on the second Sunday of every month really inspiring and my crocheting abilities have improved significantly thanks to her help.

My sister told me about this company and although I have not been to an in-person retreat yet. Covid, distance and cost. I am now a regular on the Sunday crochet zoom meetings. The owner, Emma, is sooo helpful and knowledgeable and a lovely lady with a great sense of humour. The retreats, according to my sister, are fabulous and I'm saving up!

Crochet is something I never thought of doing until I met Emma! I saw a retreat local to me and went along. Emma made me feel so comfortable and explained everything to me step by step, nothing was too much! I can’t recommend Oh so pretty and cleaver enough! Thanks again Emma, looking forward to next time!

I recently attended a retreat with Emma. I would 100% reccomend. I had a lovely time with lovely people and Emma was so patient and knowledgeable. What a beautiful setting.

Started attending crochet workshops held locally by OSPaC, Excuse the pun but I was hooked, well led and as I didn't have a clue how to crochet I didn't feel embarrassed at all, in fact Emma supported me so much I decided to venture to Crewe Hall for one of her retreats! AMAZING venue, most relaxing weekends I have had in a long time! Met some amazing people and learnt so much, along with my other crafty skills crochet is now becoming one of my favourites! I will be back Emma! (Red wine too!).

Recently I attended a day retreat with this company. It was a very small group. Tea and coffee were provided, as promised. There was sufficient yarn provided for 4 simple projects (ideal for a beginner in my opinion). I managed to complete 2 of the projects on the day, and was close to finishing the 3rd. I asked for and was given the pattern for the 4th project to complete at home.

I was watching on Instagram, with interest the details of the weekend retreat held on the Bank Holiday weekend, as I was thinking about one of these weekend retreats for a future weekend away. Another person I know was also watching the feed, and commented that the 1st project of weekend looked like one of the projects I had made on my day retreat. I agreed it was the same project that I had done. A side discussion ensued about whether I had used that particular item on my return home, and to which I advised I hadn’t as some of my other friends had made and used home made scrunchies and how long they took to dry, and by the time they were dry and ready for the next use were very unpleasant. For what ever reason, the owner of the business decided this was a personal attack on her, and that the comments were spiteful, nasty and untrue - because I have used another company who also do crochet retreats. I believe the other retreat company the owner of this business refers to, must be very popular as all their retreats for next year are difficult to get on as they are all fully booked.

Most companies take on board any comments that are made about them (either positive or negative - and I don’t believe my comments were directed at the owner in a negative way - she has chosen to take it as a slight) and use the comments to improve their product offering to the market place

Because of this perceived slight, I have now been blocked from this company’s Instagram account. An interesting place to be, when I could have been putting money into her business!

For the record, the owner of this business needs to realise that I am not affiliated in any way (financially or by family connections) to any of the companies that I use for retreats and workshops. I have attended workshops/retreats using a variety of media (yarn, fabric, mixed media, glass, paper crafts and food craft to name but a few) and pay for every one I attend.

I would suggest this should be marketed as a beginners retreat, and would not recommend this for anybody who considers themselves to be of an intermediary or advanced skill level or even a competent beginner.

So I would like to say thank you to Emma I had a lovely day today on the day retreat at crewe, she is patient and helpful, I hope to be able to return again to another retreat and to join the zoom meetings. Lisa 🤗
