I went to Martine originally as I had v high blood pressure and could not sleep, also awful feet/legs cramps, after assessing me she gave me acupuncture and made ma a fabulous foot cream ,Spikenard and Vetiver, that night , no lie I put the cream on my feet, easily absorbed smelt woody, earthy and slept 8 hours, un heard of… no cramps, thought this was a one off, not at all, I gave some to my friend as well who DID sleep 8 hours as well, the acupuncture which I have weekly is so beneficial for balancing my body, emotional and physically, love it and Martine’s professionalism.

​I recently completed the Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine day course with Purebei, taught by Martine. It was a day filled with incredible wisdom that truly opened my eyes to a whole new world of ancient knowledge and insight into the human body.
​It's easy to see how passionate Martine is about her craft; she genuinely wants to pass her years of knowledge on to those eager to learn. I rarely write reviews unless an experience has truly moved or stayed with me, which speaks volumes about how impactful this day was. I highly recommend Purebei to anyone looking to better understand themselves, their bodies, and all things TCM.

Martine succeeded where conventional medication had failed - and quickly! After treatment for bladder cancer, I spent 8 months in constant pain and was weeing every hour. I was on various medication which had made no difference at all.
In a leap of faith I decided to try acupuncture and was recommended to Martine. After 2 sessions, the pain had considerably reduced to 6/7 out of 10, making life a bit more bearable. After a few more sessions, the pain has now reduced to 0/.5 out of 10 and I can last 3-4 hours without needing the loo.
My energy levels have significantly increased, and I am sleeping so much better.
Martine is highly qualified and experienced. I recommend her wholeheartedly. Thank you for changing my life, Martine!

Martine is an excellent TCM practitioner. She is the real thing! She has helped me with so many issues. All those years struggling with IBS and now I know why and it's gone. She really did a number on me before knee replacement surgery to the point I had almost no pain during recovery, shocking everyone! Now she has introduced me to a wonderful cream that has given me the best sleeps ever! Tried it on my husband and it works for him too! Id you can't sleep you need to try this!

I was suffering from severe digestive issues that I couldn't eat anything, Martine helped me with acupuncture and herbal treatments, which were very helpful, I was able to eat after the first treatment, and after the second treatment, I was able to eat harder foods normally without stomach pain. And Martine was very patient and friendly. She made the whole treatment very relaxing. She was very caring and relieved my fear of acupuncture, like a close friend.

After listening to the talk I decided what have I got to loose by giving Acupuncture and Martine a try......
WOW!!!!! what an experience!!
After feeling very low, a body full of aches and pains, completely lost my mojo and generally feeling rubbish with no energy, I can honestly say Martine worked her magic, after just a few sessions I feel a completely new me my aches and pains are gone and I have bags of energy and a smile of my face!
I Strongly recommend this very talented young Lady....

After suffering horrendous Migraines for past 3yrs, lasting roughly 20hrs of the most extreme pain ive ever known and getting nowhere with Doctors, 3 different doctors, all suggesting different causes and different tablets, I was very low and getting no where, apart from a cabinet worth of meds I decided I didn't have anything to lose trying Accupuncture.... Thank god i found Martine,after my first 2hr session with her asking me more questions about myself than any doctor ever has I had my first session and I'm amazed, delighted and migraine free. I attended an inspiring 6 sessions course with Martine which I would recommend to anyone interested in massage, acupuncture, Qi Gong, or simply understanding an alternative approach to health. I knew her as an excellent CTM practitioner (acupuncturist and herbalist) who has helped to improve my health enormously. She is also an excellent, enthusiastic and generous teacher. Ken was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2013 at Christchurch Hospital and 4 years later
his diagnosis was changed to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.(Parkinson's Plus condition). So when he started receiving acupuncture with Martine Niven his condition was advanced. As his condition
steadily progressed through the years his ability to achieve tasks has declined. He now has little quality of life after having been very active.
His symptoms which are frustrating and debilitating for him are:
loss of power and clarity of speech. He talks in a whisper slurring his words so it is very difficult to pick up what he is saying. I think due to his Parkinson's he is not aware that he is talking in a whisper.
He gets an irritation in the throat and finds swallowing difficult. This causes him to cough a lot and brings up mucus which is coloured and is prone to chest infections. Due to lack of exercise fluid builds up in his body sitting on his lungs. He also has a sinus problem. His legs and feet are very swollen.
He freezes a lot and his feet tend to stick to the ground. Sometimes it is difficult for him to lift and move his feet. He also suffers from shakes when his body goes into spasms and is taught. His trunk is rigid so finds it impossible to sit up from a lying down position.
The muscles in his eyelids are weak so often keeps his eyes closed even when walking and eating his food. Everything he does takes him a long time.
His stability and balance is not good. He can easily lose his balance and fall over which is often backwards and falls heavily. For a few years now he has no longer been able to get up with aid but it now requires two strong people to lift him up off the floor and into a chair. This has got worse and now looses his balance frequently.When he walks he shuffles his feet and can trip up over his own feet.

After been told that acupuncture helps rigidity he started treatment with Martine on 15th June 2023.
It has proved to help all of his symptoms. He is also taking herbal medicine which is successfully clearing the fluid out of his body. The fluid in his body has been a terrible problem for him. He constantly dribbles, coughs bringing up mucus and blows his nose a lot. During these last couple of months the improvement has been remarkable. He no longer uses a nasal spray. His sinuses are clear. No longer having to keep blowing his nose. His mucus is clear and greatly reduced. Since
taking his herbal medicine he has not had a cold, cough or chest infection. He still dribbles a lot but not to the extent that he did.
He had dry scaly skin on his scalp which is now all cleared. His eyes were sticky which have now cleared.
The spasms which he has frequently suffered when his body contorts has steadily lessened.
During his second treatment of acupuncture something remarkable happened. Martine had placed needles in the top of his scalp. He was totally relaxed and soon fast asleep. After about five minutes he opened his eyes and started to talk clearly. It took him by surprise as he was talking normally. He could not from then on always talk clearly but has been more communicative and periodically speaks more clearly. His mind is also clearer and does not get as confused as he was. Having been a personality who loved to talk it has been great for him to be able to join in a little when we have family and friends round. It is refreshing for me too to have a little bit of conversation with him when in the car and during meal times.
Since having acupuncture all the improvements have been a slow steady progression but when I look back to how he was it is remarkable and I have every confidence will continue improving his quality of life. I am looking forward to Martine working on strengthening his legs once the fluid has been expelled from his body. This will make a tremendous difference as I'm confident that it will greatly improve his balance and reduce the danger of him falling. I'm also hopeful it will enable him to enjoy activities again that he has not been able to do for a few years now. I am not expecting a miracle but with help if he is able to do a little gardening and weight lifting which have always been two of his passions it will be lovely.

I went for a few session with Martine and I was very impressed with the results. She explained her approach in detail along with my profile type with the reasons for my conditions. I noticed improvements straight away and her tea has also been a great helper for my sleep issues. My mood improved and general wellbeing to an extend I did not suspect.
I will be back, if adjustments are needed :)

I have had a series of treatments from Martine for both physical and emotional conditions.

I was sick every evening, wasn't having dinner and really low energy.
I went and saw Martine, who was very professional and welcoming and my symptoms have improved so much! I was only their for around 45 minutes and it has helped me SO much!

I first came to see Martine for blood nourishing treatment back in 2015, I was competing internationally and my tendons were getting worked very hard! My body responded so well and acupuncture was the only thing that helped me manage and eventually rid me of my tendinopathy.
Whilst being treated Martine discovered there were a few other things going on which were effecting my health including the remnants of a Glandular Fever virus I’d had in my teens. Which presented itself mostly as fatigue. We then began treatment to rid my body of any underlying pathogens and the results were amazing (if not a bit disgusting!)
In 2021 I contracted Covid which then unfortunately turned into Long Covid. With the main symptoms being brain fog, chronic fatigue, anxiety, rapid weight loss and lack of appetite as well as abnormalities in my cycle including chronic period pain and backache. (The full works!)
Though I occasionally still experience some symptoms, with Martine’s help through acupuncture and prescription herbal teas I have been able to return to work as Cabin Crew, manage my anxiety completely, regain my appetite and my cycle has almost regained a similar normality to that pre covid.
Martine is compassionate and kind, she is dedicated to helping her patients feel better and is constantly learning alongside her practice to be able to do this. I am grateful for her and for each treatment that “keeps me going”.
