I hate this place!
Regret moving here!
I don’t even want to decorate my flat cause I’m too busy spending my own money fixing… but you want to pay rent, service charge, council tax etc for y’all to just sit on your flat bondas!

Can’t wait to leave this demonic place!

If I could give a 0 star I would have, they scammed me of a refund of my council tax which has not been done at all for months, so much for a government organization.

If I could give no star I would. Newham council scam their residents on a regular basis. From not fixing hazardous roads and pavements to not regularly cleaning the area and picking up rubbish on the streets - including glass.

I have been trying to get in contact with them for two days but no answer. I scheduled a bulky waste collection in which they failed to pick up within five working days as they stated. In addition to this, they sent me an email lying that they attempted to collect my bulky waste but it wasn’t there. THIS IS INCORRECT AND A BIG FAT LIE. I placed the item in my front garden (as requested) as soon as I booked the collection.

The lack of integrity of this council is appalling. I have been scammed out of my money with no service completed. I am still on the phone trying to get through to them as I write this review.

Newham council is worse council of London. Their staff are working there for ages but they are most of rude and unprofessional people working any London's council. Newham registrar office is one of the example!

It's just the most horrible council I've ever seen. First they made me pay £500 when I moved out of my flat and now I have £800 in credit which they should refund me. I have set up an enquiry to get them to refund me this £800 that was left on my balance. They just marked this enquiry as resolved and didn't refund my money. It's just awful.

Newham council are a total disgrace I have lived in Newham for 36 years and I have watched it totality go down hill for the past 6 years I have been emailing Newham Council and my MP sir Stephen Timms for over a month regarding drug dealing and drug users on the other side of my fence which is the only thing separating my garden and the park I have even been in touch with crime stoppers what have they done nothing. I cannot even enjoy my garden due to the constant noice and smells from the drug taking and the abuse. And Newham has done nothing.. Newham has become dirty full off drugs and users and drunks this is not the Newham I once new and liked living in this borough now is a total dumping ground for all off the scag-heads and there dealers the streets are dirty with rubbish there parks are not for normal people anymore to enjoy you take your life into your own hands going into Priory park as it’s been taken over by scum and Newham council don’t care this council have been run by Labour for a lot off years Newham needs a change from Labour running this low life off a borough change is needed or step up Newham and do something for the residents who pay to live in this borough

This council actually makes me physically sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only am I trapped in one of their leasehold properties for nearly 20 years due to their leasehold charges scamming then the plandemic, I now have the misfortune of having to go into this filthy rotten crime ridden Borough to visit an elderly relative every week.
They just find every excuse under the sun to extract money from people with their fines.
Anyone in their right mind would run from this Borough as swiftly as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfair parking fine, its like a road robbery.
No option to see the evidence and appeal.

The Falling Standards of Newham Council: A Dismal State of Affairs

In Newham’s realm, a council once revered,
Now finds its standards steeply veered,
Efficiency and effectiveness now wane,
As the council’s decline causes much disdain.

Applications, once hopeful, now left to languish,
In a realm of neglect, they struggle to flourish,
Processing times crawl, frustration mounts,
Lost in the abyss, accountability discount.

Rudeness permeates, a discourteous façade,
As staff, with disdain, treat public with discord,
Nepotism thrives, connections take flight,
Meritocracy crumbles, fairness out of sight.

Fines and charges rain upon the oppressed,
Disproportionate penalties, leaving them distressed,
Minor infractions met with financial strain,
Creating resentment, trust goes down the drain.

Housing assistance promised, a lifeline for the weak,
But in reality, it’s a promise they seldom keep,
Only economic migrants receive aid’s embrace,
Leaving vulnerable souls in a hopeless chase.
Neglected streets, a reflection of despair,
Potholes and filth, with neglect they share,
Complaints go unheard, repairs take too long,
Hazards and inconveniences, the consequence is strong.

Communication fails, a broken line of trust,
Long waits, disconnections, residents left in disgust,
Voices go unheard, concerns left unsolved,
Leaving Newham’s residents feeling uninvolved.

The council’s decline, a bitter truth to bear,
Inadequate service, a state of affairs unfair,
To restore faith, urgent action is the key,
Transparency, accountability, the path we must decree.

With improvement and commitment as our guide,
Newham Council can regain its stride,
For the community it serves, it must aspire,
To regain trust and respect, rekindling the fire.

Applying for selective licence as a landlord in Newham.
On line application forms full of bugs, will not let you up load relevant information no obvious ways to save the form so far. Cannot contact the dept' as they have been having problems with their phones.
Now over 7 hours trying to fill in the form.
must be lovely to get paid to sit in an officeand get paid no one pays for our time such a disgrace. Especially as we get financial penalties for late forms.
COMPLETE JOKE

Waited for half an hour for someone to answer the phone only for the customer services agent to hang up two minutes later!!! No I am back in the phone queue and nobody is answering! It's so difficult to speak to anyone about council tax bills and get help to resolve an issue!

Absolute CLOWN SHOW

I'm locked out of my account on the Newham Council website so I've emailed multiple times with no answer so I tried calling several times every day for a week, still no answer - I'm trying TO PAY YOU!!

My last experience with them was when it took them 11 months to make a simple adjustment to my name on the council records...

This total joke of an "organisation" exists at the apex of patience-testing incompetence. Unbelievable

Please answer your phones. I have been trying to get rid of green waste for weeks. The pile grows over night, with what I believe is other people’s green waste that they want to get rid of.
I need to get rid of it quickly to prevent this pile getting bigger as I need urgent work done in my front garden

Electric company doing construction in my front garden likely cause for the bin men from Newham forgetting my bin, reported the missed collection on Newham website this morning. And by the early evening a truck came and emptied it. Quite suprised. Didn't get that quick a response when I lived in Redbridge.

Really bad service in all respects. Have been living here for 5 years and I am appalled by how the UK government has ended up to such a disgraceful levels of service to its citizens. We pay huge taxes to get a horrific service back. They never answer the phones, they never tackle any of the key issues we raised, all the services we try to use from them never work effectively, they don't service well pensioners as everything now is online on poorly developed online portals that takes me, with a PhD in computer sciene, at least half an hour to order my visitor parking permits and get all the pensioners on the road really struggling to do anything with the council. I was verbally abused by one of their council workers and when filing a complaint they just responded months later saying it's not upheld with no explanation. Every single experience I had with them has been absolutely horrible. Considering moving out and it's completely unfair to bring people to this position. We pay huge amounts for the properties and taxes to be kicked out because we cannot deal with all the issues and inefficiencies and poor service in this council! How did it come to this? UK is turning into a third world country!

Absolute joke of a service. If you can avoid living in Newham, do.

In my past job, I worked as an intelligence officer for a London Embassy. After that I started my own business and then got a job with the council and an overpayments officer.

The council contacted MI5 and stated that I may be leaking documents as I had a high level of access to their systems. I worked my ass off for this council for 6 months until being arrested by the National Crime Agency and MI5.

They tried charging me with conspiracy to commit espionage and when that failed they used torture tactics and used the lies made up by this council to frame me for committing a crime. I was tortured, beaten, humiliated; my business was shut down and large sums of money was taken by these fiends.

All because Newham Council and it’s employees; the Mayor and some of the MPs wanted a scapegoat for their misdemeanours. I took this case to the magistrates court and then the crown court only to find out that the people involved signed a non-disclosure agreement and in court they all stated that they couldn’t say anything or no comment was issued.

I was pretty much ostracised; being a tax payer, a Newham resident and council tax payer; a law biding citizen that the council thought could use and abuse. I was framed and charged with threats and assault which I never committed and they sent me to prison for a month and transferred me to Newham Mental Health. I was told that if I ever said anything, they would call me crazy and let the people of Newham know that I am a criminal.

People in Newham know me very well. My business helps other businesses and people with health problems and disabilities to live life appropriately in a borough that doesn’t care.

It’s the worst borough to live in and the worst borough to work for as they spy on their residents and use that information to enforce their will. This includes using and passing information to “relevant” agencies (I.e. Police, Intelligence Agencies, Bailiffs and etc) to undermine law biding citizens working and making a decent living; especially if you are making decent money.

They don’t want you to progress. Just be poor and struggle to pay damn bills and taxes. They want you under their thumb.

I hate this borough. I hate it’s policing and enforcement system. It’s abhorrent the way they treat people fining them and raising taxes to squeeze every last penny out of you. They are thieves. Move borough if you can. And if you cannot, then prayers be with you.

Newham Council ignore serious complaints that affect peoples lives, and charge local residents for the privilege. It’s an abysmal excuse for a service that has repeatedly failed Newham residents on many levels. They make it impossible for noise complaints to be investigated by completely cutting noise officers and specifying the need for a specific address, otherwise they will ignore the complaint entirely- which is want they would prefer. They are dysfunctional on every level when trying to make contact or get a complaint recorded. They have made promises about resolving local antisocial behaviour, yet have done next to nothing. People deserve much better and at the very least to be acknowledged.

I've done a mistake in my housing application, instead of applying to change application i've applied again. I called them so many times , i email them to abandon my mistaken application in order to apply for change of circustances but nothing, i was waiting for 2 months now and nobody sorved my issue.

Careless, outrageous customer service!!
They refuse to refund the overpaid council tax amount, 2 months now sending emails and I have been totally ignored. Scammers!!
And how convenient it is for them that they have technical issue affecting their telephone line.
