I I could give a minus score, I would!
Bulky Waste collection was booked and paid for on 28th Jan. Items for collection were put in my front garden 2x Sofa's and a footstool. I got an email on 29th Jan advising that my bulky waste was collected.....best bit is that i'm at home and no one had come to collect the items!
Went into my enquiries and it showed as resolved....how???
Provided feedback to say that collection was not done. Received an email on the same day to advise that this will be collected.....its now been 7 days and still not collected. Called up and was in the queue for an hour (there was 1 caller ahead of me) and eventually, the customer services adviser took my enquiry number and said that this will be escalated to the relevant team and collection will be made either that evening (Fri) or the next day (Sat)....guess what, still waiting! Best bit is that we live so close to the depot where the teams are based! Called again on 3rd Feb and again email sent for escalation.....feedback provided was that the items were not there when the team came to collect....how do you miss 2x Sofa's and a foot stool!
Happy to take your money but cannot provide the service or lying about the collection!
Cannot get through on the phones or no reply when you make enquiries online
Council is going downhill with their services...dont know what is going on lately...MP's and Mayor please do something about the services.....want our votes and money but whats the point if you cannot provide for the people that voted for you!

If you're considering moving to Newham, think again! It's been the worst experience, and I deeply regret leaving Hackney for here. The council is staffed with rude and disengaged employees, while many residents seem indifferent to their surroundings. The streets are littered with trash, crime is rampant, and drug use is alarmingly visible everywhere. Missed bin collections and poorly lit streets are common issues, and you're often charged for services that simply aren't delivered. If you earn a decent income and value a community that takes pride in its environment, invest your money in a borough where both the council and residents genuinely care.

This is literally the worst borough ever.. all they care about is stealing your hard earned money in cold blood..

I park my Nissan qashqai DT69OSD Near Atlantis Ave, London E16 2UB for a few minutes.. instead of giving me a ticket and let me know next time they will take my vehicle... no.. they jus took my car and later find out I must pay 270£ to get it back.. this is pure scamming..

This borough are here scamming people on Sunday after Christmas week.. this is unbelievable.

I am utterly appalled by the abysmal service I have received from Newham Council. Their complete disregard for residents’ needs is nothing short of shocking.

Rubbish is everywhere, crime is rampant, and there is a horrible vibe to the place these days.

To add insult to injury, they’ve issued a fine that I cannot pay due to a recent power outage. This is a clear example of their utter incompetence.

Of course, they need all the money they can get, considering HALF OF THE BOROUGH DO NOT WORK AND HAVE NEVER WORKED (look it up if you don’t believe me). The money I’m paying should fund a workshy family of seven for half an hour or so. It just goes to show – you can shower an area with money; it won’t change the underlying situation. Reform is needed.

This is just one example of the many issues plaguing Newham Council. Their complete incompetence and poor service make it clear that they are more concerned with generating revenue from the workers to give to their mates on benefits than providing quality services for ALL their residents.

I urge anyone dealing with Newham Council to be prepared for frustration, delays, and a general lack of support.

I have just left the borough to live somewhere else, and already, I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Many others are following suit. I would recommend anyone who works a job to leave Newham. When there is no one left in the borough who makes money – who will they fine then?

Newham have decided in there total lack of wisdom and forethought ,despite the fact we pay extra to park at home due to ulez ,we pay extra to go anywhere in east London …added top up fee …due to ulez…now people (residents) coming home in early hours of morning either to leave or go to city airport or to actually go home from night shift are being stopped from travelling down royal Albert dock way (which is a working highway) as “ they want to stop hoon drivers” …so many a time a cops car is either at the roundabout or hiding in a offset driveway watching cars go by …So Newham council in all there iodicy instead of putting speeding cameras up they stop cars going down ,who legitimately are and should be allowed to travel this road …absolute mindless ,money grabbing idiots

absolutely awful service. Online forms don't work so called and held for 40 mins to then be answered by someone who then put me at the back of the queue again after 1 explained the online form wasn't working. Absolutely shocking shocking disgusting service. I've been trying to contact them for 2 days now, the call back service doesn't work, their online service doesn't work and their telephone service doesn't work. I honestly don't know how to solve this since there is no way to contact them.

Amended my review after I managed to get through to Christopher who was brilliant and professional and helped me solve my issue! Such a shame there wasn’t a Christopher to answer the first time. 5 stars to Christopher, zero stars for the rest of newham’s systems and service solutions.

If I could give I would give 0 star. If you call them they don’t pick up the phone. If you email them they don’t respond back to the email.

Newham Council epitomises the very worst in local government. From their shocking financial mismanagement to the seemingly endless parade of incompetent executives, their dysfunction seeps into every facet of their operations.

Basic tasks like setting up a council tax account, obtaining a student exemption, or reporting street litter become exercises in futility. Expect endless delays, unanswered emails, and a complete disregard for your time. Their block waste collection service is equally abysmal. Overflowing bins and uncollected rubbish pollute block waste rooms, creating a breeding ground for pests and generally unpleasant communal spaces.

Formal service complaints are akin to shouting into a void. Investigations are either non-existent or so poorly conducted that they add insult to injury. Noise complaints are met with indifference, leaving residents at the mercy of inconsiderate neighbours.

One can't help but draw parallels between Newham Council's operational effectiveness and the kind of governance one might expect from a developing nation riddled with corruption. The pervasive sense of apathy and disregard for public service is truly appalling.

Adding to the chaos is Chief Executive Abi Gbago's frequent and unexplained absences. One has to question her commitment and ability to manage this dumpster fire of a council. Under her leadership, or lack thereof, Newham has descended into a state of utter disarray.

If you have the misfortune of living in Newham, brace yourself for a constant battle with incompetence and neglect. This council is a disgrace to local governance.

Newham council is not fit for purpose they take extortionate council tax throughout the boroughs they run (VERY BADLY I MIGHT ADD) there bin collectors are just lazy sods who earn money for old rope good money at that and they can’t be bothered to pull out our bins less than 2 foot out of our front garden which has no gate so instead they don’t empty them what will they want next remote control bins that empty them self’s for them

By far the worst council. Very poor processes geared to taking your money at every opportunity, e.g automated emails to mailboxes you can’t respond to with no option to speak to anyone.

The parking fines they issue are a joke. How about looking at all of the illegal parking on Green Street by van drivers. You never see them getting a ticket. And how about Raymond Road where Tesco, Iceland and Lidl use it as their own private delivery yard. Roll cages lined up on the pavements, trucks mounted on the pavements and the sheer volume and depth of potholes!

It would be nice to see them to tackle dangerous parking for once. I’m not holding my breath though. Can’t wait to move away from here.

They don't help for people only want lot of money from pocket they don't scare from God. Money hungry people. Very very disgusting people working in the council.

Newham council is the most dysfunctional council I know. Every time enquiry about something, mostly get no solutions.

Elections team are a joke. Did some election vote counting work. Expect to not be paid at all. Had to chase this for neary a month (july 31st to 23rd Aug). They dont respond to emails or calls

The dirtiest borough in London.
Rubbish everywhere. They miss rubbish bins collections regularly and there is no chance to report it online because that option doesn't work.

Newham council are absolutely useless!!!
If you need to contact any member of any team, there is a totally disconnected system of pressing buttons. Once you eventually get to talk to a person, they instantly cut you off. Their attitude seems to be “OH DEAR WHAT A SHAME! Never mind I'm sitting here all day and I'll get another call soon”.

To rub salt in the wound, I then sat on the phone listening to a recording which kept on saying 'YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT TO US!!'

I rang the council at 1.35, hoping that I might get through to a member of staff, but was sent on a wild goose chase, from press 3, press 2, etc. Eventually I get through to a queuing system and told I'm number 14 in the queue, and half an hour later I'm still number 14 in the queue and being told, 'YOUR CALL IS IMPORTNT TO US!!'

THREE HOURS TWENTY MINUTES LATER AT 16.55 WITH ONLY FIVE IN FRONT OF ME, THE LINE SHUTS DOWN.

I reported an issue on the 20 June, and was told it would be dealt with in two weeks. (This exact same issue has been raised every year since May 2019. And has yet to be resolved). Today, SIX weeks later, it STILL HASN'T BEEN CARRIED OUT.

I'm sorry, but the only thing I can say is, NEWHAM COUNCIL YOU ARE USELESS AND THE PEOPLE RUNNING IT ARE TOTALLY INCOMPETANT AND WOULD BE BETTER EMPLOYED PICKING UP A BROOM AND SWEEPING THE STREETS. AS FOR THE MAYOR, ROKHSANA FIAZ, AND THE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS, THEY SHOULD ALL STEP DOWN AS THEY ARE THE LEADERS AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS UTTER SHAMBLES OF SUBSTANDARD WORKMANSHIP, OVER-INFLATED CONTRACTORS’ COSTS AND GENERALLY ‘COULDN’T CARE LESS ATTITUDE’ THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE COUNCIL, FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM.

THE WHOLE OF THE OVERPAID, UNDERSKILLED PETTY BUREAUCRATIC TIME AND MONEY WASTERS SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THEIR POSTS AND REPLACED BY PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT WHAT SERVICE IS PROVIDED TO THE BOROUGHS TAX PAYERS.

I got charged a parking fine even though I have evidence of payment made for the duration I had parked for.
There’s no contact numbers and when I contacted the council’s complaints department they emailed back stating that they don’t deal with such queries.
It was clearly stated on their website that they do.
No further information or contact information was provided.
Absolutely disgraceful.
I was only visiting the area. Parking was horrendous.
Machines weren’t working and the only option available was by phone.
Payment was made yet ended up with a fine.

Newham council in their great wisdom have made it almost impossible to communicate with anyone on a person level. If there is an issue with waste disposal, parking or other important matters the only information
is through an unclear 'Newham' website and chatbots!
it used to be a council that took pride in its borough, unfortunately it is now run by entitled, overpaid, unaccountable and even worse incompetent councillors, middle managers and front line staff. Its become a very frustrating place to live sadly!

Went to corperation street in stratford nov 2023 to visit a friend who lives in the road. There used to be an open gate but instead there was two signs showing no motor vehicles. I got off my bike and pushed my bike forward 10ft and then rode to my friends. before november i had moved and updated my v5c a bit late. In june 2024 a debt company contacted me demanding £280 for a pcn. If i appealed i would have to send two seperate forms which would need to be signed by a court. The debt company said due to the time it takes the debt would go up. I called them today to ask for paymnet options and the only option was £100 a month??? So i had to borrow the money to pay it in full which has left me money issues. Apparently If i had ever received the PCN it would have been about £80 and i would have appealed it as i was not riding the bike but i have no option to pay £80 now. The road upto and beyond the sign i can use i just cant ride past the sign but i wasnt riding the bike. the two meanings i found is you can not ride or drive a vehicle past the sign and i didnt and no motor vehicles in the road ahead which is not correct. The debt company charge was about £75 yet the council could have got my details from the DVLA at a later date before instructing the company. Total scam especailly for my mate who lives 5 doors past the sign for the last 15 years and one day forgot and got a fine herself

Newham was a ghetto when I was growing up but now it has become a slum. MP's in Newham are on? Over £86.000 a year to do what? The East Ham MP was campaigning on High Street North to retain his seat this coming election and he seemed oblivious to the state of the street or the obvious gangs of pick pockets, drug users and general crime. He has failed to help people who have been to his office and on three occasions that I asked for help he gave encouraging words but failed to fight my corner even though he made it clear that I was in the right and had been treated very unfairly. On one occasion he told the chairman of Barking and Dagenham college that his letter of concern would be his final word on the matter. When I pointed out what he wrote in his email he never got back to me. The people who he has known for years have never had a complaint because he helps people he knows on a personal level or those who have template cases that he has won before. So many people complain about him but when it comes to polling day they still vote him in. When are minorities in this area going to wake up and realise that Liebor just use them to stay in power? They have no intentions of getting you out of the bottomless pit because they would lose your votes so they keep you in the cycle of poverty and despair to guarantee your vote, blaming everything on the Tories. Well the same MP has been our MP of over three decades and Newham has never improved even when Liebor was in number 10. Go to areas like Chelsea and see how many betting shops they have there. You would be lucky to find one yet Newham has around 86 according to latest data. Why has S.T not done something about this. Crime is through the roof and local services are beyond poor. People are quick to blame the Mayor but that is a poor excuse and people need to start laying the blame where it needs to be laid. S.T writes for our local Newspaper which is a very good strategy to stop people from complaining about him and it's wrong. Why should any MP have a second job if they cannot do their main job properly? People wake up and stop conforming to this third world standard of living. We are all worth more than this.
