NACA is by far one of the best mortgage products available to the public. As long as you have realistic expectations of how long and tedious the process is going to take this will get you on your way to prepare you for home ownership and if you’re lucky get you into your first home

The NACA program seems too good to be true but it's real. It takes a bit of effort and time to get through all the requirements but the benefits are totally worth it. I'm just starting out, but so far, working with my mortgage counselor Katya Walker has been a pleasure. I'm looking forward to finding a great house with them.

Today I had my first meeting with Mr. Dwayne Jordan my assigned counselor. The meeting went great! better than I anticipated. This can be a nervous life changing event though, Dwayne was personable and professional which made the process easy. I left the meeting with understanding and realistic expectations of what is forthcoming. I look forward to the remainder of this life changing process.

My counselor has been incredibly patient and knowledgeable throughout this process, and I truly did not expect things to move forward so quickly.

I haven't experienced the process yet of getting a home and yes has taken a lot of time getting all the required documents, but it has shown me how much I have not tracked my funding and Megan Evans is excellent to work with. I am so looking forward to the end result.

I have been working with NACA for the past 4months. I am very pleased with how much my counselor has taught me and prepared me for the homebuying process. As someone who came in ill prepared, I feel that the preparation and time NACA has taken is quick. Have patience. I am expecting to have my approval very soon! everything they have to offer is well worth this short wait.

We are working with Ellen Peterson to buy our first home. She has been helpful in explaining the various requirements to qualify for NACA. Although our situation is complex, I feel assured that Ellen will get us to the finish line.

Our first NACA appointment went really well. Our NACA counselor Ellen Peterson was very patient, knowledgeable, and reassuring. There is a lot of paperwork and it can feel tedious, but Ellen gave us very clear next steps to help us. There is no downpayment and no closing costs when you work with NACA so we are committed to the process.

Working with NACA to buy my home has been truly rewarding experience. From the start, the organization guided me step-by-step through the process, making something that usually feels overwhelming much more manageable. I appreciate their commitment to helping everyday people achieve homeownership without high interest rates, hidden fees, or a massive down payment.

The counselor has been patient, knowledgeable, spoke my language, and genuinely cares about my success. She took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood each part of the process—from budgeting to loan eligibility.

I’m currently going through the NACA program and so far it has been very educational and structured. The process is not rushed, but it’s clear that the goal is long-term homeownership, not just getting you into a house. The workshops and counseling focus heavily on budgeting, financial habits, and readiness, which I appreciate. It does require patience and follow-through, but I can see the value in how thorough the program is. I would recommend NACA to anyone serious about preparing for homeownership the right way.

Beginning in 2019, once my application was completed, I was assigned a wonderful NACA worker, Mr. Lamar Sellow. Unfortunately, Mr. Sellow left the company around February 2/2020. I wasn't notified until March 2020, and was reassigned to the Cleveland location to Ronda Easley. That was the beginning of my nightmare. Ms Easley wanted me to resubmit all the paperwork again. I was in disbelief and didn't know what happened to all prior paperwork that was submitted to Mr Sellow. I complied and resubmitted my paperwork. Ms Easley was rude and very unprofessional. She never followed through and just kept me resubmitting the same paperwork over again. She would schedule appointments and would not be available. On one occasion, Ms Easley gave me a choice to attend a video conference or a telephone conference with her. I chose the telephone conference with her. Once the telephone conference was scheduled, Ms Easley wasn't available. I waited for several hours and when I finally spoke with her, she was very arrogant about it, and said that she sent an email the day of for me to attend the video with other people. She also said that I should have seen the email. A last minute email while I was at work, and was prepared for a telephone conference that was scheduled several weeks in advance, that I should have seen the email. Could she had rescheduled with advance notice or asked her supervisor to cover her appointment with me. I eventually got her supervisor involved. It started out fine with the supervisor and eventually got worse because she covered up for Ms Easley's unprofessionalism. Even though I had access to the portals, Ms Wilson led me to believe I had more money for a nice home, until I spoke with a realtor who eventually explained what I had been allowed. The realtor and I explored my portal, once the information had been recorded by Ms Easley. The new information wasn't available and led me to believe that I was qualified for a much higher bracket like $200-$300,000 bracket. I was very disappointed to find out that I was only qualified for a $90,000.

If I would known upfront what I was allowed, this could have saved me time and embarrassment when scheduling appointments with realtors. We are told by NACA not to share all the information regarding how much we are provided. I had a rough time with realtors not wanting to assist me because they thought I was lying or knew that I didn't have enough for the purchase. In actuality, I didn't know because Ms Wilson was saying go find you a house but hadn't been upfront with what I was allowed.

On one occasion, I gave a realtor Ms Easley's email address and I was copied on the email with Ms Easley basically saying I lied to the Realtor that I knew what I was allowed. I was outdone.

I tried to get realtors in Cincinnati to sign up for the trainings and get the word out since there were offices in Cincinnati. I was going to set up a local event. However, I jfeel like NACA use deceptive practices and need to be more transparent. Four years, I spent being excited and got no where even with the complaints and having to call NACA's office to get clarity. One worker actually looked in my portal before new info was added that stated I qualified for a home under $500,000. Therefore, I felt justified in looking for a $200-$300,00 home. My last option before giving up, I called a CEO and he seemed empathetic but explained there were only two people at the Cleveland, Office, Tonda Easley and her supervisor Sheila Wilson. After 4 years, I gave up, 12/20/24.

There needs to be civil trainings for NACA office staff. The Cleveland Office need more qualified workers and there needs to be other office locations. The only thing I was doing was paying for yearly renewals. It would be hard for me to participate and hold NACA events based on my prior experience. I would be lying to say how great the program is when I couldn't get a home. If it's for low to moderate income, I was going to have pay around $1000 for rent when others are paying under $800.

I couldn't add a date. The system would not go back that far.
