Bunch of absolute charlatans!

Quoted £10,900 for my car — only for the figure to start dropping the moment I arrived. I could palpably feel the attempts to reduce the price.

Apparently having a service carried out six days early (because I was out of the country when the MOT was due) now qualifies as a “partial” service history. That feels less like a genuine assessment and more like an excuse to chip away at the agreed price.

It didn’t stop there. A bonnet that had simply popped off a bracket near the headlight was dramatically reclassified as a “serious crack”, with another £600 knocked off. An exaggerated description conveniently followed by another reduction.

The whole process felt like a textbook bait-and-chip exercise — attract with a strong quote, then systematically look for technicalities to drive it down. It left me with very little confidence in the fairness or transparency of the valuation process. I had already packed my documents away before he returned with the ‘serious crack’ finding as it was blatantly obviously his desperation to make any reduction. He claimed he had to put it down as a serious crack or he’d be ‘marked down’! Are you in school fella?

Experiences like this do nothing to improve the reputation of the industry.

Always excellent service

From start to finish the process was made very simple. Ash and Kyle looked after us very well and we were delighted to drive away on the day in our new car. The service that we received from Motorpoint Derby was excellent and we will certainly return in the future.

We went to Motorpoint as they had a number of cars that we had shortlisted and wanted to narrow our search. We went back and bought a nearly new car on our second visit because of the excellent service received- knowledgeable, friendly and not pushy. We collected on the 3rd visit and as previously, they couldn’t have been more helpful.Thanks to Josh, Martin and Leon

Easy to buy, good price

There were car mats in the boot when I came to view and collect the car, but I had to leave the car for one more day due to needing more paperwork, and when I collected it the next day, the car mats had been taken out. Then the staff refused to let me have the car mats back and acted as if there were no mats in the car in the first place. Just did not think it was professional to allow a customer to see there were mats in the car the first day of viewing and then take them out when we came to collect the car the following day. If I had the paperwork, I would have had the mats. Although the other service was good, this is what let the service down. If I had received the mats, the rating would have been higher.

Pick up my new to me car on 12/02/2026. And on Friday we drove to south Wales and back today checked the oil levels and it was just about showing on dip stick this car should have been serviced before I collected it as I told motorpoint the engine could of seized up. It cost me £60 pounds for my friend to change the oil and filter. Call motorpoint to say I was not happy sending a car out in a dangerous condition so called them and said can we have a invoice for the parts but no apology I think I was being good not going mad at them for sending a dangerous car out so will I use motorpoint again no so if you buy a car off them check the oil.

Fantastic Experience. Maia was brilliant. Not pushy just helpful and understanding. Went that extra mile to help us get our car. Will be using again when we change our car.

Friendly staff that help you to navigate the modern computer problems of Tax, Insurance etc. No pressure sales just a very pleasant experience. I would highly recommend giving them a visit.

We were welcomed on arrival then allowed to wander around to find any interesting cars without any sales pressure. We were given the keys to look around our selected car then had a 20 min test drive after signing insurance papers. The purchase process was very relaxed. Warranty extension and extras were offered, but no pressure to buy them. We collected the car on the next day. We enjoyed the whole process and recommend Motorpoint as a great place to buy a car.

I would recommend their Derby branch. On arrival greeted with a warm smile. Ash was our sales representative. No hard sell he knew about cars which makes a difference. We didn’t end up buying a car from them but would have no problem in using them in the future.
