As a teacher of Ancient History and a massive Star Wars fan, Mosaic North Africa's Ancient and Galactic Empires Tour looked ideal for me and I was certainly proven right in that as the whole trip was the most amazing experience. I was very impressed with all the admin side of the booking, finding my initial conversation with Ivan a great way of answering all the questions that I had and the info pack I was sent really helpful on the practicalities. All the hotels I stayed in were excellent with very helpful staff and good quality breakfasts and dinners and my guide Nadhem was absolutely superb, really knowledgeable and passionate about his country and its history but also a very big Star Wars fan who was a mine of information on the making of the films. The Punic and Roman sites we visited were incredibly well preserved and the mosaics on display in the various museums were breathtaking in their beauty, while visiting the various locations where Star Wars filming took place was a fantastic experience - taking a 4x4 journey through the Sahara to visit Luke Skywalker's house as the sun was setting was a dream come true! The Force was really strong with this trip.

Kevin and their team, including our tour guide Nouriddine, were super professional, organized, warm, and clear.
We operated a group of 20 with teens and it was an unforgettable trip for sure. Highly recommend!

Our focus was on seeing the great (but under-visited) traces of Roman North Africa. Mosaic delivered as promised! Timgad was especially awesome in the extent of remaining structures— rivaled only by Pompei—which can't compete with the surviving mosaics in the related Algerian and Tunisian museums. The Mosaic staff—drivers and guides—were not only knowledgeable, but also know all the locals from site to site. My private tour of Tunisia was organised by Mosaic North Africa to allow me to follow my father’s wartime route through Tunisia and also to absorb the culture and history of the country . Algeria is a country with treasures and people should come and visit to find out more about the place. Though tourism a bit under developed there're lots to see and be explored here, especially the nice and warm people which are definitely highlight in my trip. Tunisia is beautiful and relaxed and a good place after Algeria's adventure.

I would highly recommend Mosaic North Africa to others who are interested in visiting Algeria and Tunisia.

The road trip through Tunisia, the Star Wars sights and the amazing guide and driver all combined for an unforgettable tour. The camels, the Land Cruiser, the charming Tunisian communities, the sand dunes. I could go on and on! As a lifelong Star Wars fan, Hotel Sidi Idriss and the igloo house were truly surreal. Mosaic North Africa

Nahmed was undoubtedly the highlight of my Mosaic North Africa trip. Nahmed is welcoming and easy to be with. He is super at logistics and really, really knows his stuff. Having studied Latin, Greek and ancient history at university, I recognize what a resource he is. I peppered him with endless challenging questions and not only did he not tire of them, he quickly yet thoughtfully answered all but one…which he soon answered after hunting down the expert on the portrayal of zebras in Roman mosaics. (I did say the questions were challenging, right?)

Nahmed is passionately interested in the history and culture of Tunisia and that, combined with his warm and informal manner, made my visit.

As for suggestions for improvement of the tour, I would limit the Marriott in Sousse to one night in favor of more time elsewhere. While it was a good hotel, it could have been anywhere: I wanted to feel like I was in Tunisia and all the other stays felt that way.

I am recommending Mosaic North Africa to all my friends and family who follow my travel blog.

Mosaic North Africa arranged the 14-day Roman Ruins & Sahara Sands Tour in Algeria for me as a solo trip to fit my specific dates. The booking process was very smooth and communication was great throughout. They were able to very quickly arrange authorization for a visa on arrival.
The tour was an amazing experience — Algeria is a stunning country and everyone I met was extremely welcoming. Everything ran very smoothly, drivers were all there waiting for me at the airports and taking me from place to place and the guides were very kind and informative and I learned a lot about life in Algeria. The restaurants and hotels chosen by the company/guides were very good. It’s amazing to be able to visit Roman ruins and other sites with almost no tourists around (there would be thousands of tourists at these sites in Europe) so now is the perfect time to go before it gets crowded!

Everything that was included in the itinerary was delivered. Guides were timely, knowledgeable and professional. Cars were always clean and well maintained.
My highlights on the tour were Tunis Medina, the incredibly preserved Roman Coliseum of El Jem, dining on a fantastic camel dinner and the city of Sousse.
The food and accommodations far exceeded my expectations. If you are planning to visit Tunisia this is the tour agency to use. Highly recommended.

We had such a great time! Every detail being planned out and taken care of allowed our family to rest and enjoy the beautiful Sahara! The tour guide and driver were kind, professional and flexible, making our tour feel unique and personalized! We would rebook and do the whole tour again in a heartbeat!

If you have never been to Tunisia, it's a very friendly and welcoming N. African country full of beaches and deserts with a dash of Rome, sprinkles of Star Wars, and a light dusting of Indiana Jones. A great way to see Tunisia is with Mosaic North Africa, which I would highly recommend. My guide/driver Nadem, was fantastic and our contact who made our arrangements, Ivan was great. I did the 13 day ancient and galatic empires tour under their StarWars.Tours brand.
For part of the tour, my friend and I were traveling together but I was staying longer and we needed to split up part way through. Ivan was very flexible and able to personalize our tours to make this happen. He was also very responsive and quick to be sure we we were ok with the arrangements and any changes. Ivan lives in Tunisia and when my tour was in his town, he made the effort to meet me and gave me a little gift. That was a nice personal gesture.
The tour was great. It's so cool to be at the Star Wars sites and to see how Tunisia inspired Tatooine. Tunisia also has some impressive archelogical sites and nice beaches.
For me the highlights were Star Wars Canyon, the Igloo house, Bulla Regia and El Jem. The Igloo house is just iconic, and I just really liked the Canyon, I could camp there. The underground villas at Bulla Regia are so unique and unexpected and it was surreal to be able to walk everywhere in the El Jem ampitheater and not be limited on where you can wander.

Up until our visit to Tunisia we have visited all the North African countries from Egypt to Morocco. This visit to Tunisia completed our journey. Mosaic had previously organised our visit to Algeria and it was based on our experience with them that we chose their "Best of Tunisian History" tour.
Our experience justified our choice. The whole tour was with our driver/guide Anis. He made sure that we not only saw the wonderful sights of Tunisia, but also some of the out of the way places as well. His careful attention to our every need was very much appreciated. In particular we had a minor medical emergency which Anis handled brilliantly not only arranging the medical treatment, but also adjusting our itinerary so that we saw virtually everything that was originally included.

We found every aspect of our tour perfect. The hotels and other accommodation were just right, and very comfortable. Everything was looked after perfectly.

As mentioned we have now completed our North African safari (Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco) it is unlikely that we will be visiting there again, but certainty the Algerian and Tunisian legs, which were organised by Mosaic were highlights.

Most of the other visits were with tour groups. There is no doubt that the individual attention given by Mosaic provided a superior experience.

The Star Wars Tour to Tozeur, the Sahara 4x4 excursion, and Star Wars Canyon was a great & easy experience since all the details were taken care of, and the itinerary was very flexible. They know how to do private, catered tours right. Really appreciated the time and attention that was given to show me where the scenes from the Star Wars movies were filmed, and a beautiful guidebook was brought along so that I could recognize the film locations and take photos similar to some of the scenes. I would highly recommend the Star Wars Tours offered by Mosaic North Africa.

I highly recommend visiting Algeria to anyone with an interest in Roman history, and Mocaic's tour covered more than enough for me, with extensive, well presented information about each site and their history within the Roman Empire. With some interesting details about key individuals from the region, who played significant roles within the Empire.

We had such an amazing time in Tunisia! What a lifetime of memories: visiting salt flats, camping at the foot of the Sahara desert, riding a camel, touring Berber villages, and of course visiting a few infamous Star Wars filming locations! Tunisia is such a diverse and beautiful country. Our tour guide, Mohammad, was so great and was so good about explaining different things along our tour. We felt safe and well and taken care of! We’d certainly use Mosaic on our next trip!

I was able to take a tour with Mosaic North Africa in January to visit the various Star Wars sites in Tunisia. It was a very cool experience to see all of the sites and see how much Star Wars takes from local Tunisian culture. The entire trip went very smoothly, and the local guides that the company uses were all very knowledgeable and good at what they did. Overall, it was a very good experience.

Our trip to Algeria with Mosaic North Africa was an amazing tour that I can’t stop thinking about! It was excellently planned and included a diverse itinerary that included historical and cultural components which appeased all members of my tour group. I also appreciated that all the food (even the food in the Sahara) was so delicious! All the tour guides in each city were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating to our needs and interests. We loved getting to chat with them about their lives and learning about their culture.

The highlight of the trip for me was the camping trip in the desert. To be honest, I was dreading it since I didn’t enjoy my last experience camping in the desert, but being in Djanet blew all my expectations away! We had great camping tents and mattresses and blankets that all seemed new and clean. The guides also set up tables and folding chairs for us at every meal, and even had the foresight to plan a snack time for us every day. Every day was fun and exciting, exploring new scenery and new aspects of the desert. We did see a lot of cave paintings, which got a little repetitive, but there were also canyons, dunes, and differently shaped rocks that kept things interesting.

Highly recommend going on a trip with Mosaic North Africa. They will definitely cater to your interests and give you a tour that you will enjoy!

What an incredible trip!

I am so thankful to have planned my Algeria travels with Mosaic North Africa. It was packed with excitement, history, and sights. I was truly blown away by how much they were able to pack into my 12 days. Not a moment was wasted.

When I arrived, the local guide team greeted me and were so kind. They worked at my own pacing. They taught me about Algeria’s history, from Roman ruins to French occupations. Everything was pre-arranged, we even had police escorts in some places.

My highlight was undoubtedly the 4-day desert camping. Very few can say they went so deep into the Sahara Desert. We traveled by 4×4 to see numerous ancient cave drawings, hike massive sand dunes, and camp under the stars… all the meals were delicious, cooked fresh. It was perfect. A time I will not forget, and I certainly could not have planned it myself.

Walk the ground where some of the first Christian martyrs were imprisoned and then fed to the lions and wild bulls. Wander through the ruins of Roman forums where emperors and governors sat while crowds roared; through ancient temples and the surrounding remains of cities long gone. Visit the Roman baths and be amazed at the engineering genius that made luxurious leisure possible not to speak of the engineering and architecture of so many ancient buildings; all led by expert guides steeped in the local and ancient history.
